Trump claimed he never said he would “repeal and replace [ObamaCare] within 64 days,” though he repeatedly promised during the campaign he’d do it on Day One.

After 7 years of planning, the GOP couldn`t pull of their driving mantra "Repeal and Replace"

After 7 years, it`s dead on the floor..

So far, Trump has an epic fail on his 2 of his 3 major campaign promises . With one more to go on overhauling the tax code, I forsee as another fail for the middle class American.

What other promise are you referencing? And it was the Democrats' fault that they couldn't do a clean repeal, which is what everyone wanted. But this is only a delay. Let Obamacare explode. No one will have health care. The Democrats will own it. They will be crushed in the 2018 elections. And they will beg to vote for a fix. This works out well in the end.

I have to laugh when in reality is is so sad.

The art of the deal was to demand a vote, play chicken with the freedom caucus then blink.

So, the art of the deal is lay blame for the loss on the Democrats. Yes folks, the bullying was the democrats.

So in anger, all your compassion flew out the window with the ill and needy having health care?? Because Trump bullied then blinked?

The other promise was his "Muslem ban" as he called it.

quote:
Former New York mayor Rudy W. Giuliani said President Trump wanted a “Muslim ban” and requested he assemble a commission to show him “the right way to do it ...

Redone as a "travel ban on Muslim countries" he still lost out as a promise.

2 lost promises with one to go.

Trump isn't a king. He can't do it by himself. That quote is fake news. The travel ban has nothing to do with Muslims, or else it would include 50 other nations. It's nations with compromised governments without proper vetting, as determined by the Obama administration. It will be reinstated by the Supreme Court. The Democrats are stuck with Obamacare, and it's not going to be pretty.

No, those who are rejoicing in the retention of Obamacare are the ones who aren't compassionate. Your glee is sad, because this was a failure for all Americans--not just the ill, but also the millions who have insurance they can't afford to use, and the young healthy who must pay the fines. Everyone knows it's collapsing. The Dems just don't care. And I'm not angry. This was a foregone conclusion. In 2018, there will be more than enough votes for a clean repeal.

No glee on this end.

I`m no fan of Obamacare but less a fan of tales being spun about it.

I am NO fan of TrumpCare dishing the financial crap on the poor and elderly either .

So a 50-50 crap shoot.

Obamacare is imploding:

quote:
“[T]he law is collapsing,” House Speaker Paul Ryan said over the weekend on “Fox News Sunday.” He cited limited choices in some states and insurance companies pulling out of some markets, and he predicted “massive” premium increases in the future.
President Donald Trump said the law is “just about ready to implode,” during a March 17 photo-op with the Republican Study Committee members who support the GOP plan. “Obamacare is dead; it’s a dead health care plan.”

quote:
In reality the law — specifically the ACA marketplaces for those buying their own coverage — is ailing, but still very much alive.

Federal officials announced a few days ago that 12.2 million people were signed up to be covered by Obamacare health insurance policies sold through the federal and state ACA marketplaces, or exchanges, this year — down less than 4 percent from the 12.7 million who signed up during the same period a year earlier. That’s a pretty lively corpse.

BTW, when I said a complete repeal, you said no no. That would hurt people. Now you say let it implode to hurt people.

There is no winner Randall. No matter how you spin it and thats the saddest truth.

We became screwed when ACA came down and the rest is history that can not be recovered.

Don't put words in my mouth. We couldn't do a complete repeal. We didn't have enough Republican votes. Those numbers are deceptive. Just because people get insurance doesn't mean that they have insurance that they can actually use.

Schumer and Peloosey are dancing on the grave of the failed bill. They are ecstatic. It's going to make for a great video when Obabacare collapses and to play in the 2018 election.

Words in your mouth? Do you deny you told me Trump had compassion and wouldn`t repeal completely to take from the needy?

We will be revisiting some "facts" from a few months ago to see where we are at today.

One

quote:
Not a single Republican voted for Obamacare. We all despise it. We hold the majority. It will be totally scrapped. Republicans also want lower taxes. The ones who vote against Trump will be voted out of office. He will also take care of our veterans. Obama just let them die in the streets.

two

quote:
Actually, 60 seats on the Senate wouldn't be required. Generally speaking, to repeal a law, you just pass a new one. But the Dems would filibuster it, and 60 seats are needed in order to prevent that. Obamacare is in a death spiral. Trump could put the final nail in the coffin by simply ordering the IRS not to enforce the penalty, which is nothing more than a tax. Then it would die on its own. Even better, Trump could use a reconciliation, which only requires 51 Senate votes and 20 hours of debate. This would only repeal the budget parts of the bill, such as the subsidies, but it would gut Obamacare down to nothing. And Trump would use Executive Orders to trim back the regulations that resulted from it, including wiping out all of Obama's. Plus, many Dems are unhappy with it, so gtting another 9 votes might not be so difficult to obtain. Bottom line, Obamacare is done for. [R.I.P.]

So, question is how did this happen?

ok. I had to find this thread and statement

Randall:

quote:
The repeal is tougher, because Trump doesn't have the 60 votes he needs. He could starve Obamacare a number of ways and kill it that way, but 20 million Americans would suffer and lose insurance for a time. Do you dislike Trump so much that you overlook his compassion and his wanting to make the transition smooth and simultaneous? .

the thread link for reference.

Ni filibuster needed. Republican bravado melted at the crucial hour.. after spending millions of taxpayer money with kibuki repeals when they knew it wouldn't fly.

I suspect, as Dumpty has hinted in the past, that some form of universal healthcare will be the end result.

Of course they could always knuckle down and REPAIR ACA but that seems too sensible and doesn't carry enough political UpYours to fly in our current era.

Where did I say that Trump would not repeal it? I said he could starve it, but 20 million would suffer ininsured. If you quote me, then interpret what I say correctly.

And yes, I did agree to a total repeal--lock, stock, and barrel. Absolutely. Thank God, I'm not President. But Trump is smarter than me. And a great leader listens to wise counsel, which I would hope I would also have done. It was very wise of Trump to look out for those 20+ million and modify his plan to protect them. I don't expect you to ever give Trump credit for anything, but it shows maturity and compassion that he put his ego in check to embrace those who would have lost everything under his original idea to scrap the whole law in its entirety without adopting one or two parts that actually work and without making it simultaneous. Trump is brilliant.

Adopting one or two parts is not "repeal"
So by your statement, you indicated Trump will not repeal.

If a government repeals a law, it causes that law no longer to have any legal force..

Replace, to assume the former role, position, or function of; substitute for.

I do understand the difference & he clearly and vehemently said repeal.

2. Ask Congress to immediately deliver a full repeal of Obamacare.

President Trump didn't have Democrat support, so an actual "repeal" wouldn't work. Tomato tomahto. We know what Trump meant. Get rid of the old law and put a better law in its place. Budget reconciliation was the next best thing. But once the law collapses, Democrats will be forced to vote for a replacement. That is, the ones who are still left in office.

"Democrats will be forced to vote for a replacement. That is, the ones who are still left in office"

Exactly!

Lost in all the democrat rejoicing that ObamaCare is still in force, is the fact that more than 1000 democrat elected officials across America were involuntarily "retired" from office....for supporting or voting for ObamaCare!

So democrats, don't change a thing. Keep rejoicing that ObamaCare insurance premiums have doubled or tripled; that ObamaCare deductibles have doubled or tripled; that ObamaCare insurers are fleeing the ObamaCare insurance markets; that ObamaCare provider networks are shrinking and that physicians are getting out of medicine or refusing the pittance paid for seeing ObamaCare and Medicaid patients AND worse, all the nightmare ObamaCare paperwork which doubles or triples their office staffs.

Yeah democrats keep up the "good work" and in the meantime, refurbish your resumes. November 2018 is nearer than you think!

It shouldn`t have been touched until it could be repealed and a better plan immediately to take it`s place .

They jumped the gun so blame Dems if you want but their rush shot them square in the azz.
