The last one in this category, for me, was James Gandolphini. When he started the Sopranos, he was lean. Once, he could command one million per episode, he was really heavy.

His last meal may have killed him. WE don't know but he was eating and drinking to great excess.

Prior to his role as Tony Soprano, he was a bartender and waiting for his big break which he got very late in life.

Others in this category, for me, are Elvis, Princess Diana and Michael Jackson, although there are many more.

Do you guys ever think about this?

I feel like elvis was just too insanely gorgeous to not be famous. imagine elvis not famous, just as a normal nobody? As a truck driver (what he was doing before the music). i cant imagine it lol. I wonder what would it have been like, had Elvis's twin (identical) brother had lived too? Omg! Madness.

Yes, I think about it and preach about it when my Scorpio daughter says she wants to be famous.

I don't want to control her, but she needs to know about the risks: loss of privacy, having to deal with difficult personalities, living up to impossibly high standards or being ridiculed, and exposure to a drug culture with pressure to conform.

Elvis could have easily been a nobody. One decision in life can make all the difference. He made a brief television appearance and was literally an overnight success!

Faith, have you heard any of the evidence about Elvis faking his death? One of my friends is friends with the author who investigated his supposed death and wrote a very revealing book. I will post some of what she uncovered.

Wow, you are friends with someone who knows her?!

I watched some of her videos on YouTube a few years ago. I thought she sounded credible enough. However, after reading many books and watching all kinds of films about Elvis, I now believe there is no way in the world he would have abandoned Lisa Marie like that.

I watched some things on Elvis being alive and they seemed credible. I thought us not landing on the moon was total hogwash. Then, I heard a radio show on it and I don't think we did. I know people will think it is nuts but the show was so credible about the heat belt they would have had to have gone through that I do believe it.

Lisa Marie knew about it. Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to and sacrifice to protect those that we love. Elvis was involved with organized crime and not in a bad way (he was working for the DEA), but his family's lives were in jeopardy. It sounds absolutely absurd to think of Elvis as a DEA agent, but it was publically confirmed after his "death."

Yep, she lives one state away from me, but it's just a few minutes across the bridge to get there. She showed me all kinds of documents and photos she got from Gale!

Elvis was also personally trained by Bruce Lee! His fave book was one of Linda's faves as well (Cheiro's Book of Numbers). Linda's interps for the numbers came straight from that book. Elvis was obsessive about doing Chaldean numerology on everything. This is the book he was "found" with while dying on the toilet. Elvis had a morbid sense of humor--even in death! His death certificate said that he weighed 170 pounds (another Elvis joke)! And handwriting analysts say it is unmistakably Elvis' handwriting. He developed a dark obsession with death after losing his mother. One time, he practiced "faking his death" at a concert. Gunmen ran on stage and shot Elvis multiple times. He was covered in blood. And then he just started laughing!

He called Gail in 1988!!!!!!

That radiation belt will have killed those astronauts with that thin little suit they had back then. We had to beat the Russians to the moon, though.

So, do you think it was staged, Randall?

It's not against the law to fake one's own death. The FBI does it all the time. But to claim on life insurance or other such benefits would be fraud. No one ever claimed on Elvis' life insurance. The tombstone has his middle name spelled wrong. Elvis was very superstitious, so he would never allow his name to be put on a tombstone. He was using the pseudonym John Burrows. A single was recorded and released (left at a trusted radio station) called "Check The Spelling On The Stone." We don't know if that was actually him singing, but it sounds chilling. The bowling alley here had it on the jukebox.

I have always thought the first one was staged. But I think we can go there now.

Well, we don't actually know for sure that he did. But if he did, I don't know the answer. I can only hypothesize. He was probably haunted by his fame. One one hand, he loved the attention. On the other hand, he couldn't go anywhere without being recognized. And then there's the possibility that he was entered into the Witness Relocation Program.

Another interesting tidbit is that Elvis was very close to Nixon. When Elvis was turned down by the FBI (he collected badges and asked for an FBI badge), Nixon made him a DEA agent. Nixon also took him to the place now known as Area 51 and other secret bases. Elvis had a way of getting whatever he wanted. He once went to a dealership and smashed a handful of purple grapes on a cadillac and demanded that the dealer make and sell him one with that same color. He also had a temper. He would hire and fire and rehire his friends.

Yeah, sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction. I guess we could have actually gone to the Moon. But it really seemed very convenient. Lots of money was being spent by NASA. And the public demanded results. The movie Capricorn One is about faking a Mars mission. But we all know they were referring to the Moon.
