I don't get this phenomenon. Is it common? Is it me or are people who think they are able to/should feel like they're on drugs for eternity out of touch with reality?------------------

Some people explain that "being" in love is a feeling of wanting/needing another person to feel fulfilled. To simply "love" is to just love the other person, without the need to "cling" to him/her. Idk, I guess that if I hear that particular line, I'd think that the person still cares about me, but no longer wants to "be" with me. It could be just a "nicer" way to break up. IP: Logged |

This touches on two things:It's possible to love someone and not be in love with them. Pets and family are an easy example for many people. And when you love someone but don't want to be their life partner, have their children, etc, then you love them but aren't IN love with them. Of course people who believe that "men and women can't just be friends" would find this extremely difficult to understand, just as asexuals might. OTOH, the 2nd is there's also plenty of people who have adopted incredibly unrealistic (if compelling) concepts of both porn and/or romance...and romance is even more insidious because it starts at an earlier age in many movies that aren't listed as romance, like countless Disney movies when I was growing up. Love is supposed to be all bliss so when it's inevitably not, or when the chemicals in the brain calm down so it's not such a high, then they think something is wrong. In some cases they even realize what's happening but will instead look for the next one to give them their thrills which they may or may not feel terrible for. One person even posted here in SP about that problem and she explained it astrologically (placements that inspired loyalty and stability that she was unhappy without but other placements that drove her to seek the ecstasy of new love...led to situations as described in this song). She didn't know what to do, but she kept an endless chain of cheating going on because while that was painful to herself and whoever she loved (but was no longer IN love with) the alternative was despair. She deleted her post pretty fast (and I don't recall who it was) so I can't link to it. Maybe love addiction therapy may have helped her. I for one don't believe we're slaves to our planets, they can be worked around, but they do provide the wind in which we're caught in and without that work then some people are just a leaf tossed endlessly about in it so that they end up like her in an endless cycle of pain (to her and those unlucky enough to let themselves love her). Even if it's involuntary, you're either in love or you're not. It's not productive to be in a state of indifference, neither here nor there. If it's lukewarm, then cut it off and move on.
