Neurotic is when you are living in your head and not in reality, as it is. Doux's Personality test got me thinking. I am living in my head and reacting to my head way more than I want.
I will elaborate as I think of it( and get courage) but if anyone can relate, that would be great

You seem to be fighting many demons within yourself.

I hope it all turns out well for you.

According to C. George Boeree, professor emeritus at Shippensburg University, effects of neurosis can involve:

...anxiety, sadness or depression, anger, irritability, mental confusion, low sense of self-worth, etc., behavioral symptoms such as phobic avoidance, vigilance, impulsive and compulsive acts, lethargy, etc., cognitive problems such as unpleasant or disturbing thoughts, repetition of thoughts and obsession, habitual fantasizing, negativity and cynicism, etc. Interpersonally, neurosis involves dependency, aggressiveness, perfectionism, schizoid isolation, socio-culturally inappropriate behaviors, etc.

We're all neurotic then

I actually wanted to write something. It is kind of a journey of my life. I think the "Don't be a victim brigade" led by Cata will swoop down but I don't care.

I feel like I have failed my entire life. Most of it was not my fault. My mother molested me when I was young and I froze more and more as the years went on.

I have been given an amazing chart with lots of talents, a friendly, extroverted personality and a good sense of humor.

I could make friends. I could make friends of people's parents and I was what you would call a resilient child.

However, as I froze more and more, I could not make good decisions. Hence, I made decisions that set me back and put me in situations that were not good for me.

After my son died, I decided to cast off my old life as much as I could and put myself in God's hands, seriously.

I screwed up my life, royally, so how could this be worse?

I have led many people to salvation. One girl is a best selling Amazon author and I am in her second book.

Her name is E.L Farris

Another girl is my English professor who was not in good shape when she became my client but accepted Jesus, got active in a chutch and just got engaged.

Another guy came on my website to bug me about what I said about Eris. I befriended him and he told me I was crazy to believe in Jesus.

He just wrote to me that he found Jesus.

If my life has any value, it is as God's servant.

I just wanted to write that, for myself, and maybe for someone else who needs to hear it.

I know that it borders on a DD topic but I hope that it borders on a Sweet Peas topic, too.

I lead no brigades, Ami. I feel your insistence that I am attacking you when I take a different viewpoint is a neurotic tendency, to be honest, and I believe one day you will see you were wrong. Not going to comment on this otherwise.

I would not say you are neurotic, then Ami.

Neuroticism to me equates emotional instability/ sensitivity. And perhaps you do feel your scars quite vividly, but... I also think they must have made you stronger. Do you not think you would be well equipped to handle a crisis now?

You are very inspiring. I know people who have had similar experiences as you but that deny these experiences. That also means they are not addressing the issues. Although your experiences may have curbed your development they don't seem to have frozen it! That can be due to nothing less than your inner strength and diligence.

Besides... What is life but F-ed up anyway? I know no-one with the Disney life we were all promised I too take it very seriously often, but then I have to pinch my arm and realize that it's all going to be water under the bridge waaaaaaaaaay doooooooooooooooooooooooooown the line. From a spiritual perspective at least.

We all have neurotic tendencies. Labeling ourselves Neurotic is not constructive IMO. Maybe some indigenous peoples are neurosis-free but in "civilized" society it is the same as being "normal" , though obviously there are degrees

One of the top five traits of successful people is neuroticism. Obviously not to the extreme, though.

I love that, Randall. After I wrote this thread, I got some perspective. That is what I love about SP. We can put our stuff out there and get comments.

I realized a huge thing after I wrote this thread. It started about 6 months back. I was asking a very perceptive person I know to give an honest assessment of me. I had just done one of her and she appreciated it.

She said you seem too nice. You seem like you have thrown away normal anger and normal selfishness and have one speed and it is kind of robotic.

This shocked me because we are the last ones to see ourselves, most of the time.

However, now that I have gotten my relationship with my mother back, I can see what she means.

I could never be selfish or angry as a child, so I stuffed them down.

This will produce depression and other issues cuz you can't push these things away with no consequence.

At any rate, I, suddenly, saw how I had disowned any selfishness and this had made me twisted.

I owned it back, today, so now I can be selfish

I have had issues with this in the past too. I really admire selfishness in people today because I don't have much of it myself. I've become much better, but... It's a learning curve. I attract people in my life who can teach me this. One things two of my closest friends love about me is that I do not chide them when they do selfish things. They are not afraid to tell me because I just tell them "way to go, I want what's best for you, so if it requires you to be selfish then go for it!"

No problem

I don't like the negative attitude allot of people have to selfishness. What is wrong with putting yourself first? We are each our own first responsibility, I think. Of course once you have important people in your life you have to weigh your interests against theirs, but there is simply nothing amazing about sacrificing yourself all the time. People rarely appreciate it, and I'm not so sure it's good for the soul to cause oneself unhappiness. I don't see much admirable about blind selfishness. It is important to strike a balance. And look at every day as ME DAY

I am also happy to hear about your experiences. I feel this topic is almost taboo. Most people are selfish but rarely will they admit to it, and so they usually just refuse to properly discuss it altogether. This makes unselfish people even more unselfish as they struggle to navigate how to weight themselves against others. It's quite difficult striking a balance, I think. We can't all be libras

Here are the other personality traits that lead to success:

Extraversion – means a person is talkative, social, and assertive.

Agreeableness – means a person is good natured, co-operative, and trusting.

Conscientiousness – means a person is responsible, orderly, and dependable.

Neuroticism – means a person is anxious, prone to depression, and worries a lot.

Openness – means a person is imaginative, independent minded, and has divergent thinking.

Conscientousness is the number one trait, and it supercedes all others and spans all ages and cultures for success throughout life and in all categories for success.

Interesting! I just looked it up. Your asteroid questions teach me something all the time. Never heard about it before. I'm such an astrological novice -.- haha! It seems to be semi-square neptune, and trine jupiter. It's in the same sign as my sun sign and NN (aqua). My narcissus is biquintile the moon and semisextile jupiter. Not sure what all of this means though. Will look into it.

Where is your echo?
