Hrm. I've got a question about that, hypatia.

(Pardon me for playing "devil's advocate" here -- I'm a Libra Sun, what else can be expected?)

What if... what if... you do exactly that for a really long time, and no one responds? Then what?

LOL

I think some people will always respond, maybe not the overwhelming majority all at once but more in the style of a butterfly effect.

Like everyone is stuck in this republicans versus democrats dichotomy but little by little the numbers of libertarians, minarchists, anarcho capitalists etc are growing in number.

Maybe none of those groups will ever be the majority but they are growing in number yearly so maybe not in this life time or the next but at some point none the less there will be a transformation in our current system as we know it, change is inevitable.

Then nothing, you just continue with yourself.

I love a good quote, especially a pictorial one.

Not going to share my thoughts about a comment here because it probably wouldn't be taken well, but I like what the last three posters said.

Was thinking about putting together a digital collage of favorite buddhist (and other) quotes to add here....

Will post it if i do.

That would be cool.

Which comment do you feel if you reply to it that it won't be taken well? Mine? If is mine you can reply to it, it's fine.

Hrmmm... I'm starting to intuit something "fishy" in this implication that life is supposed to be one long spiritual masturbation session. That there's something unworthy about the desire for human contact...

BTW, what are y'all's tumblr usernames?

That's an implication that you have perceived for some reason, but not one that is implied.

(And not sure why you ask but I'm not on tumblr.)

This isn't pointed at you, PixieJane. Or you, hypatia. Both of you seem like sane and decent people.

Anyone else who feels this may be pointed at them: that's your guilty conscience, so, yes, it's pointed at you.

No matter how subtle your ill-intent, I will recognize it. No matter how you cloak it in sarcasm and New Age phrasing, I will recognize it. If that's what you want to do at this site, you're going to offend my sense of rightness. If you want to play games, I'll beat you at them -- because I can and because you deserve it.

Sorry to derail a thread (which I do a lot of lately), but hypocrisy gets under my skin. I could contribute a lot to a thread on Buddhist quotes (heck, I'd even whip out Photoshop and contribute my time, energy, and talents to it), but I hate that there are bad-hearted people here, for whom this site is a re-run of their high school days, and they want to form cliques and intentionally hurt people's feelings to bolster their egos, covering the actual lack of self-worth bubbling up from their subconscious.

Saggie Moon no like.

Just wow!

One of the saddest things is to watch highly aggressive people constantly projecting this aggression by feeling personally attacked by everything, including different opinions and/or posts which are not addressed to them.

Time for a gym session, sir!

I don't think there is anything unworthy what so ever about desiring human contact. I like Buddhism a lot but I am not a Buddhist, I am not committed to any religious or political ideology bc I feel it limits me and my intellectual freedom.

I don't use tumblr.

I used to like Eckhart Tolle, until someone ruined him for me. After a while, I associated yoga, buddhism, and people like Byron Katie, with the guy who twisted the message so that he never caught any blame for anything he did: it was always the other person's fault for having trusted him. He would tell others that they shouldn't need to be loved, but it was his one goal in life - he was "saved" by a woman, but I should just appreciate my pets, and my family. You know?

I hate that he's all tangled up in my head like that, with something that is supposed to bring more peace and sanity to your life.
