Hera, wife and sister of Zeus, Mother and Queen of the Gods, god of marriage and women, roman counterpart Juno.

Hera was known to be very jealous and vengeful, understandably, because Zeus was always off with a consort, but she was also very loving to her husband. She was a sort of role model for all married and soon-to-be-married women.

Many different stories tell which gods are the children to both Zeus and Hera, some include Hephaestus, some dont. One story says that because Zeus had Athena without Hera, she had Hephaestus without Zeus. Because Hephaestus was so ugly she cast him from Olympia and to get revenge, Hephaestus crafted a magical throne that when she sat on it she couldnt leave it. One night Dionysus got Hephaestus drunk and brought him to Olympia and got him to free Hera. In return, Hera rewarded him with Aphrodite as his wife (although she wasnt faithful to him).

Hera wasnt only jealous of Zeus' consorts, but also of the children he had without her, including Heracles, or as we know him as, Hercules, which she tried to kill several times, starting by trying to prevent his birth. She would also punish all who stood in her way, such as Echo, a nymph who tried to stall Hera while Zeus was with a woman by talking and talking to her. When Hera found this out she cursed Echo so that she could only say what someone else said.
