I wonder what the effect of a supernova would be?

Isn't that fixed star not expected to blow for another 100,000 years?

Starting in October 2019,
Betelgeuse began to dim noticeably,
and by January 2020 its brightness had dropped by a factor of approximately 2.5, from magnitude 0.5 to 1.5.

By 22 February 2020,
Betelgeuse may have stopped dimming and started to again brighten. Infrared observations found no significant change in brightness over the last 50 years, suggesting that the dimming is due to a change in extinction rather than an underlying change in the luminosity of the star.

On 24 February 2020,
further studies suggested that occluding "large-grain circumstellar dust" may be the most likely explanation for the dimming of the star.

You gonna be incarnated with same chart 100,000 years from now?

hmmm. On the other hand--
How long (in time as we understand it) does it take light from Betelgeuse, to travel the 'ethers of space' to arrive "as message" on the Earth?

Light .. We are looking at the far-past when we extend our perceptive boundaries past our own Solar System.

Does it spell a time's up for humanity?
Or, her new Conscious Awakening?

Will we still have hands, still have a material body?
Or, will our consciousness be a kind of telepathic interface with machines through technology?

Guess Betelgeuse is going thru the waiting phase like in Tim Burton's BeetleJuice from 1988
(Wish I were savvy enough to insert it in my response)

Sad but it will be eons before organic beings here comprehend it, I suppose.

In my natal ~

Cyrus 7209 (sun),
0 Trine Radiocommunicata 11144,
Anand 23323 (bliss) + Noboru 4807 (rise, to ascend)

I certainly hope not but some might wish it to be over for humanity. If there's a natural way for us to find telepathy, that would be nice. Personally I'm not someone wanting an interface product. But maybe our atmosphere is delivering somekind of unknown interface now and some of us are getting those telepathic abilities. As for typing, my hands would happily prefer a mind setup there.
.
Nice way of seeing the waiting room Mirage!

They don't know when it will supernova. It's within 100,000 years, which is a nanosecond in universal time, but it could blow anytime during that span of time. It will be brighter than the Moon and visible during the day.

Randall, do you think it might happen in our lifetimes? Sounds so wild to think of it.
Other than eclipses, we (current lives here) haven't had such a powerful space event.
