Hello Everyone, While researching Chiron (my obsession, untill I get it right ) I ran across a ton of information on Lilith. Understanding her was a breeze in comparison. Plus its easy to track in my own chart I feel a strange kinship with her because she is a sad survivor. Tarnished, liberated and scorned. With Lilith there is female suffering connected with pregnancy, abortions, stillborn, miscarriage, crib death, wet dreams and I strongly suspect prostitution. Not necessarily walking down the street but anytime a woman uses sex to get what she wants or as a compromise. Sex equates to (female) power. http://www.islandnet.com/~licht/lilith_asteroids.htm#lilith Lilith Her mythology dates back to Sumerian and Hebraic tradition. She was considered the first wife of Adam, his wild and instinctual consort who animated his sexual longings and claimed equality with him, “because we were created from the same earth”. When he wanted to dominate her, she left him and chose loneliness and exile rather than subjugation. As ‘punishment’ for her rebellious act against the masculine, Lilith was regarded as a personification of the ‘feminine evil’, a demoness and ‘vamp’ that attracts and then devours male energy, the raging, ‘out-of- mind’, uncontrollable feminine, uncivilized (certainly un-Victorian!) woman who cohabits with men at her own will. The witch in her role as devil’s consort and the temptress and ***** / prostitute are some of the prominent dark Lilith archetypes and (particularly male) phantasies and projections in our Western societies. Psychologically, Lilith brings up deep and primal issues like unbound sexual power, repressed feelings of rejection and rage, refusal to submit. In a ‘Lilith state’, we are very irrational, but sometimes it seems, that’s what brings out the truth from underneath. Peri-menstrual times can guide us women to Lilith’s realm. I would suggest acknowledging themes that come up and finding a safe, creative and transformational outlet. The association with 'Black Moon' which some astrologers attempt to justify with calculations round the Moon's shadow in my view has to be regarded symbolically and psychologically: In mythology, Lilith got enraged about the 'diminishment of the Moon', in other words, about the treatment and self understanding of the Feminine as secondary and inferior: As 'Moon', lots of women have been (expected to) merely reflecting back the Sunlight of the creative, Sun-like Masculine. Lilith's causes for claiming equality for the Feminine were dual - for herself, and for her 'Moon sister'. It reminds of Feminists who fight also for equality of their home and family bound woman 'sisters'. Therefore, the 'Black Moon' speaks of the alliance of Lilith and Moon. It is always interesting to consider the relationship between Lilith and the Moon (and also Venus) in one's birth chart to find out more about the dynamic of the inner 'feminine trinity', in women as well as in men (as their 'animas'). Many men tend to avoid going to these muddy emotional (esp. Lilith and Moon) places; they let women ‘specialize’ on it and rather stay ‘in control’. Thereby, they perpetuate a projection of the demonic dark feminine onto ‘women out there’, while an aspect of their own inner feminine (the ‘anima’ ) cries for acknowledgment and integration. I would like to encourage men to deeply explore what brings out their ‘inner Lilith’. Where is your lilith and does it make any strong aspects in your chart. Especially important are the aspects it makes to the Moon

My Lilith is in Gemini in the 9th house. It only trines my Ascendant(Libra) and makes a semi-square with my Mercury. I experience Lilith through the way I talk, I think definitely. Because it's the only aspect to an actual Planet in my chart, I feel that pull on my Mercury very strongly. I am fascinated by the whole mythology of Lilith and I support it 348588358%. I am definitely huge on woman and men being equal and nothing makes me angrier than reading about the past and seeing just how unequal it was. I think it needs to be voiced, and I don't hesitate to do so. I attend college and my driving force is to create a new face for women.
Like Lilith in many ways, if I am not equal than I'd rather be alone. IP: Logged |

I have been very curious about Lilith... so this is great to see! I too, identify and, when I read of her I have to say, I was very much taking the same stance! I still do. I believe Lilith is of considerable influence within me, though, I have yet to understand her position, in my chart fully. What actually started my curiosity in Lilith, is that my husband has Lilith(27Pisces), conjunct his Moon ... and we share the degree, sign and house, in our Moons. 26Pisces in our 4th houses natally... The first interpretation of Lilith in a natal chart, was on HOROSCOPESCHAT. I read Philip Graves interpretation of Apogee Lilith in a male's nativity. His insight fit well there... Thanks Lalalinda... I know much is in this 'Lilith' that I am wanting to understand...~ geminstone IP: Logged |

My lilith is in Virgo conjunct venus and mars in virgo 8th house.Sextile moon in Scorpio.I have had to deal with female suffering issues with pregnancy, perhaps even more because of its being in the 8th house. With my last boyfriend(who I thought I would end up marrying)I had gotten pregnant, but complications occured, thus ending in an operation.I was so sad.But now I know it had to happen that way for a reason.I hope I will have children someday though. My lilith is in scorpio, opposite my moon. This "attracts and then devours male energy, the raging, ‘out-of- mind’, uncontrollable feminine, uncivilized (certainly un-Victorian!) woman who cohabits with men at her own will."(I'm trying to tame her It's like attempting to train a rottweiler, but I do feel we're starting to get along just fine, lol ) IP: Logged |

I would move this to the new Asteroid Forum, but I'm not sure a string can be moved from here, since it's private. It might glitch if I try. IP: Logged |

I've always understood that Lilith the asteroid and the calculated Black Moon Lilith/Dark Moon Lilith/Oscillating Lilith represent different archetypes. I've become really interested in the latter as its prominently featured in some of my darkest and strongest relationships.A great quote: The level in which the Black Moon (not necessarily Lilith!) works is very primal and stemming from sexuality and body-energies --which is not the same as genitality-- while the asteroid 1181 Lilith is (or should be from its astronomical characteristics) more concerned with community or more social issues. The Black Moon is more related to the past, to the origins, to the "uroboric mother". from a great writeup on the subject: http://www.expreso.co.cr/centaurs/blackmoon/lilith.html http://www.tdjacobs.com/NotesonLilith.html ^ This writeup sold me on using Oscillating Lilith over the other calculations, which he calls "true BML." I prefer oscillating because that's how it shows up on astrodientist and I prefer to avoid the confusion. As for Lilith interpretations, this site will blow you away: http://www.sanjaperic.com/tag/lilith/ The articles titled "Lilith in (Sign)" are the general interpretations. This is truly great stuff! As for me, my Oscillating Lilith is in Libra/5th, same as my Sun, Mars, and several asteroids. My 1181 Lilith asteroid is in Scorpio/6th in a stellium with Eros and Sappho. H13 is the number code for osc. Lilith on astrodientist. The "Lilith" option on the menu is for the mean calculation of Lilith, and 1181 is of course for the asteroid. IP: Logged |

Both Lilith and Chiron have possibly the most fascinating archetypes of all and yet people shy away from learning about them. Lilith is in Aquarius in my predominantly Aquarius chart so that can't be good... heh Though really, growing up between two brothers doesn't help in this case either. IP: Logged |
