My boyfriend has been complaining of a sore throat all day. His glands are tender, too. I took a look at his throat for redness or white patches and instead I found a lime green tongue! He hasn't eaten anything that would make his tongue that color. We called a nurse and she said it's not uncommon for the tongue to change color because of a viral or bacterial infection, but she had never heard of a tongue turning this color!

Has this happened to anyone else?!

WTF
Wow, I can only imagine how scary that must've looked. I haven't experienced it, but hope he feels better. Is he taking antibiotics?

There are many prescription and OTC drugs that can do that. Has he taken anything?

No, that is not abnormal. Not extrememly, at least. It's happened to me before. I see an acupuncturist and in chinese medicine the tongue is considered important to assist in diagnoses/treatment. Every time I see my acupuncturist, before she begins with the needles, she checks my pulse and my tongue. I think it's sometimes referred to (informally) as a "coated tongue" and yes it's kind of an unhealthy sign but it in itself is probably not anything to be very worried about. I've gotten it before when I've been sick. I would guess it's related to your boyfriend's current sore throat. Anyhow I'm NOT a doctor but just wanted to say that it's my guess that it's not some horrible illness or anything.

Just my 2 cents.

LOL, Bluemoon... I won't go near his mouth. It's been cheek kissing for three days!

As soon as he's all better he's getting a big, sloppy wet one!

Glad to hear he's feeling better!!

Yeah it is kind of gross, huh?

And no, it's not a NORMAL occurence for me, lol! Only happened a few times when I was really sick. (Thank goodness...)

Randall~ Why the editing? What'd I do?
