... try yerba-mate! Although there are many bogus claims online about yerba-mate containing "mateine" a non-addictive stimulant cousin to caffeine there is actually no such thing as "mateine". Yerba-mate contains three stimulants however, one of which is caffiene, the odd thing about it though is that it produces very little muscle tension when consumed and falling asleep after drinking it is usually no problem. The good new is however that yerba-mate is less addictive than coffee (for me anyway) and is much richer in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants than coffee or tea. IP: Logged |

I remember a few years ago, wasn't yerba-mate being called a weight loss aid?I'll have to look into it more. Thanks beebuddy! ------------------ The less I seek my source for some definitive, the closer I am to fine. -Indigo Girls IP: Logged |

Trillian,I think it is used in appetite suppressing formulas. Its by no means a miracle plant in that respect although the stimulating effects do seem to kick the metabolism into high gear. This plant can be called a coffee substitute, so it may not be your "cup of tea" Trillian But if you were ever interested in trying a stimulating beverage that contains caffeine this would be the best one because its relatively less addictive IMO. DiviniT,It usually is at the Health Food store in some form or another, it's often in weight-loss pills etc... I prefer the leaf which you then brew just like tea. You can buy it at most tea stores but the cheapest I have found it is over the internet. Google the brand name "Nobleza Gaucha" you can get a kilo for around 10$ US. If you live in a liberal community with a bunch of hippies then ask around at the local food co-op, someone will know. IP: Logged |
