Before my journey into Reiki I read and understood the basic principles for healing including a variety of methods including understanding energy and also how to receive healing. It's all about belief and developing the necessary consciousness. It can be quite simple to do on yourself. I moved on to Reiki because I resonated with this system, and then I will move on to Seichim once I feel I have learned Reiki enough to comprehend Seichim. But you don't need to go this far to know what healing is all about.
Healing can be just a transference of 'Love Light energy' to another through power of intent. A lot of us do this on a regular basis.
There are so many methods of healing. Find the system that resonates with you and make sure you know what is required to practise certain systems including current issues surrounding the system, learn about consumer protection and legal issues to protect yourself, and others.
I will say these things also.
Practise, practise practise and research and learn as much as you can before you even consider healing others. Even visit life long healers to get wise advice.
Healing is not about diagnosing people, or promising healing.
Its about offering an alternative to help the other person receive healing on more than just the physcial level which can be used in conjunction with standard medical treatments.
Never promise you will heal someone because the person receiving the healing may depend on the result.
And remember, the receiver is only as good as the healer, they must be open to receive it. If it fails it may be because the person is not be open to it and therefor the energy cannot be transfered. So never promise anything!
Only heal when you have a persons permission, even if it is distant healing.
When you learn healing, you are not learning how to gain power, or be some sort of great master, you are learning how to BE a channel for healing energy, and how to transfer it to others, so there is no elitism involved, that totally blocks the real intention.
Transference of energy is something to be taken seriously, then you reap the benefits that are nourishing to the mind, body and spirit.
