I've got a sore throat and have to stay silent most of the time and write notes instead. This time it really comes down hard and the recuperation has been slow. The doctor said he didn't see anything of significance after the endoscopy, but there were lots of swollen spots he said they were "lymph- something". Any advice? Thanks IP: Logged |

Did he say Lympe Nodes? Have you tried drink hot tea? Just breathing in the warm steam from soup or tea or whatever hot beverage can help. IP: Logged |

Hi NIKITA,I found this in my herbal encyclopedia I will search some more but it may take a while... The Herbal Encyclopedia - E Echinacea Echinacea purpurea MEDICINAL: Echinacea, also known as Purple Coneflower, is a natural antibiotic and immune system stimulator, helping to build resistance to colds, flus, and infections. It increases the production of white blood cells, and improves the lymph glands. The tea from this herb should be used in all infections, and has been used in treating skin cancers and other cancers. Please note that if you suffer from any auto-immune disorder, you should use Echinacea, or any other immune stimulant herb, only under the guidance of a professional, such as a naturopathic doctor, TCM practitioner, etc. IP: Logged |

Wow, fresh tea would be awesome... I'm sure it would be similar to green tea... the only access I have to herbs is the nearest health food store. I really need to have my own organic herb garden, I just keep putting it off.. I would say Google it to find out for sure. I have been told by numerous people that fresh is better... But I am not an expert on herbal remedies,or doses, and my book does not specify. IP: Logged |

eat fresh garlic. Lots of hot liquids, tea or soup, etc. You don't have to dry echinecea first. Use the root. Chop it up finely and boil up in water for 15 min. THen step for 15 min. Drink up (i'd add some other tea though) Also goldenseal is a good one to take. dried honeysuckle flowers, nettles are good to eat for Vit. C, along with citrus fruits. Sage is a good antibiotic herb to use as a gargle. Hope those help. ------------------ After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music." - Aldous Huxley IP: Logged |

Not to repudiate anyone who posted here, but studies have shown that ecinachea can actually weaken the immune system.I reccomend lots and lots of fluids, herbal teas are a great idea. Try to get your hands on some vitamin C, (if you can swallow it). If not maybe some sweetened cranberry juice, usually not as acidic as citrus juice but with lots of vitamin C. I'm not sure if you have a viral or a bacterial infection, did your doctor put you on antibiotics? I've done pretty well battling my chronic tonsilitis with warm salt water gargles, and 1/2 water 1/2 hydorgen peroxide gargles. But I'm not sure of the severity of pain. Do you have white spots on your tonsils, do you have a fever? GG is right garlic, and onions too, both have antibiotic properties, although I've noticed they're not as effective as the gargles.
