Just to quickly go over the symptoms I suffer from:
*Intense swelling in hands, knees, calves, feet, and ankles (whatever swells, becomes red and very warm, sometimes to the point of numbness and/or tingliness)
*Fatigue
*Physical and mental exhaustion
*Weakness in limbs.
*Muscles spasms (mainly just in the calves)
*Some nauseousness and dizziness does occur but not on a daily basis as the other symptoms.
*Joint pain
*The most pain I feel is in my legs more than anything else.

I am 20 years old. I lead a relatively active lifestyle and eat quite healthy (I mean, of course I have that "junk" every now and again but who doesn't?...). These symptoms just do not sound normal for a healthy 20 year old female. Sometimes I literally feel like I am a hundred.

I have been seeing the doctor (my doctor, and probably 4 or 5 others) for over a year now. His first thoughts were "allergies" so I went into see the specialist and had all the testing done. From this I discovered I was allergic to pet dander and dust. Two things I have lived with my entire life, and other than sneezing or maybe getting a rash on my chest, and from that, never once have I experienced the above symptoms.

I have had urine samples and dozens of sets of blood tests, I've gone in for a barium swallow (terrible experince, nasty stuff lol especially on an empty stomach)and had ultra sounds done to look at my organs.Everything comes back normal. Doc says there are no signs of my body attacking itself. He is "stumped" and doesn't know what to do. He is at least continuing tests and has refered me to a rheumotologist for the joint pain...

I have done anything in my own power to try to stop this or at least get an idea of what is causing it. So I cut my salt intake by half (didn't ever use too much salts to begin with). Didn't make a difference. Stayed away from anything unhealthy. I went at least a week of taking out 1 food product to determine maybe it was somethng I was eating..but no difference. I have discovered that acidic foods cause the flair ups to worsen, but cutting acids out of my diet hasn't stopped these symptoms.
I need to get it figured out as soon as possible. I have called in sick for work twice in the last couple months which I NEVER do. I never miss work. But I have had to call my boss practically sobbing because of the pain which is extremely embarassing for me.

I have an app. with my dr. tomorrow to get my last set of blood test results. Hopefully I actually get some this time...(results).

Have any of you experienced or have known someone who has experienced these symptoms? I am just trying to research it and get an idea while I continue getting tests done and then waiting, and waiting, and waiting, as always. For now, I have been just watching my diet and sleeping patterns. My boyfriend found a herbal recipe for this tea tht is suppose to help ease inflamation. I hope it works. I'm a Virgo Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, and ASC. I like it as natural as can be.

Any advice?

have to say the first thing that popped to my head when i read your symptoms was to cut back on salt, but that doesnt seem to do much

you know allergies make the most sence, u see the swelingness and the joint pains both point to that

have you checked you mineral levels?? i have cramps in my calves all the time (im 22 but have had them since 14) but when i take magnesium supplement i feel much better.

its aweful being in that place where u dont know what the eff is going on with you but don't wory keep doing tests and researching your symptoms online hopefully u'll figure it out..

Thank you so much for your response, Venus.
The salt thing was exactly what I thought when the swelling first started. I literally have tried going without everything and it doesn't seem to change anything.

Yes, I believe my mineral levels were one of the first things he checked. I think. I know I have the print out of the test results somewhere but the friggin thing is like 10 pages long. I thought the muscle spasms could be from lack of potassium so I eat half a banana a day now hoping it helps. Could take it in vitamin form...

I will try taking a magnesium suppliment. Makes sense, actually. If I could just get rid of the cramping at least I would be happy.

Thanks again!!

Ami! It is crazy that you mention that, my mom just did today. My aunt has it. Her symptoms are the same as mine. It's funny, because this is something that is really difficult to detect in blood tests.

I am going to look more into it. Seen the doctor today, he's having me referred to a specialist, should be seeing him in a couple weeks. Things are looking up as of finding the cause. I have heard nothing but great things about this specialist and my doctor says he is brilliant so I am looking forward to finally getting an answer (hopefully). I will also be seeing a rheumatologist(sp) to get the full arthritic screening. But that will take time because the rheumatologist has always got a big list and only comes into my town every 3 or 4 months.

Now I just have to wait some more, but hey at least he's referring me to different specialists. He told me to just come in and see him as soon as I have a bad flare up, because that may be the only time that they will actually catch something with a blood test.

Anyway, thank you guys so much for your insight. Wish me luck!

Yay on things moving ahead on the doctor front!!
The best of luck! At least you know from your aunt how to manage things. Getting a diagnosis will be great too since you can then focus on healing.
Keep us posted.

Often times medical diagnosis is a shot in the dark...really. When a doc puts a certain group of symptoms together and isnt sure they will treat for their best guess and if no results move onto something else.

With your age, they will be hesitant to run the million dollar workup, but keep at them.

Good for you in doing your own research!!! I educate people to educate themselves all of the time, but in the population I serve, they got the way they are for a reason.

Are your liver enzymes OK? Kidneys OK?

Your symptoms are symptoms of alot of health issues, it will take that particular practitioner to figure out what is going on.

Yes, it is really tough because I can have the symptoms of so many different things. And yes, so far kidneys and liver are working perfectly.

Age is definitely the biggest issue. Doc is a little confused by it lol....actually, he was asking about my emotional life, trying to pass it off onto the fact that I husr lost somebody close to me. Despite the fact that she passed at the beginning of last month and I've been seeing him about this for over a year ago. I can agree emotional turmoil can worsen your health but it is definitely not the cause!

But things are finally getting done. I am doing what I can on my end to keep myself healthy, and now I just have to wait patiently for an answer....not too patiently, though. Gotta push a little lol

Thanks again, hippichick

If it is this, the traditional doctor won't get it. You study it on the internet and bring him the info, imo

Definitely interested!!! Please, anything natural that might help would be so greatly appreciated. Like I said, I have a lot of Virgo energy. Natural all the way!! (unless there is no other option, of course)

So far the only natural remedy I have found (well my bf found) is ingredients for tea that is supposed to help with the inflammation.

the swelling of joints sounds like you may be retaining water. Has your GP ever suggested 'water pills' to get rid of it?

They say excellent results for juicing, The Raw food diet. May even have a go myself.

Good tip for arthritis, i have daily 3carrots and an apple juiced and celery. It's the carrots and beta caratone and vitamins...

Funny, I was actually just coming on here to thank everyone for their responses and let them know I have yet to get any help. The intense heaviness and swelling is gone for the most part but the joint pain isn't. The last couple weeks the pain in my spine has been unreal. My knees and my knuckles have been severely sore as well. Still waiting to hear from the specialist.

Thank you for the tips,SaggiMC!
I will definitely try all of them. I have tried water pills and they didn't help.

Thanks again everyone.

Ami and LEXX,
I feel terrible for not coming on here in so long as I was in the middle of giving Ami a chart reading and hadyet to even start on LEXX's reading. I swear as soon as I find the time and start to feel better I will come back and start fresh.

For now, I have to go. This computer chair is not good on my back.
