I've noticed over the years that my skin has developed weird spots on my face. Almost like reversed freckles, with dark and light spots?

I think it's from using store-bought "chemical peels" and things like that, that I used years ago.

It's not that noticeable in the winter time and with makeup on, but it becomes pretty noticeable in the summer, when I get tan.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can even out my skin coloring naturally?
Like preferably without having to buy a "product".
But feel free to list any products you deem worthy, as well.

I've read that cutting a potato in half, and rubbing the inside of the potato on your face will help for a quick fix, but I haven't tried it.

Anyhoo...it really bugs me. I've always had skin problems, but not like this. Makeup works in the summer, but it doesn't completely cover it up.

Harsh chemicals are not good for skin as you found out

I would grow aloe plants and use this.

People are gonna go crazy when I say this but urine on the skin makes it beautiful

Urea, which is horse urine, is in expensive cosmetics.

You can google it. E. I am not bragging but I get so many compliments on my skin. I use just aloe, mineral make up and I juice.

You also eat way healthier than I do!

Yeah, it almost seems as though the nasty store-bought chemicals I used on my face seem to have scarred it a bit, as the discolored skin is lighter, and the regular skin is darker. So it's kind of like a bunch of little scars that look like...reverse freckles?

I wonder if there's anything I can do to even it out...?

I know that aloe is good for most things, but I'm not sure if it will balance out my skin tone or not?

Whenever I've used lemon juice, it tends to make the light spots even lighter, while the dark spots remain the same.

Although it does feel wonderful on my skin!

I'll pass for the pee pee, though.

Neem oil (as wretched as that stuff smells) didn't really do much for my skin either, as far as evening it out.

But it does work well if I mix it with a homemade sugar and oil scrub, in very small amounts and with other oils.

Hmm...

Ahahahaha!

Eh...my brain just went into overload with the hilarious comments I WANT to make, but probably should not.

I wonder if beer that looks (and probably tastes, although I wouldn't know for certain) like pee would have the same effect?

There's a name for white skin patches, the losing of pigment due to sun exposure... Vitiligo. It's autoimmune disease or thyroid related. If you want to look at the spiritual cause and treat it with energy healing you can look into the astrology: Saturn, DNA, kaali plus other clues. It can be associated with high reptilian DNA. There are many homeopathic remedies that can be used based on your individual vibration. Detox of heavy metals is a great way to start healing this also.

Thanks, PS.
I tend to think (as an educated guess) that it's not due to sun exposure, but to using a drug store "chemical peel", and then going out into the sun, which it says specifically not to do. Also, the product was obviously cheap to begin with (and full of chemicals).

Of course, I did this years ago, before I knew any better. I started noticing it the same time that I started using the nasty product, and it has never gone away.

I'm going to try the heavy metal detox soon.

Starting with taking a bentonite clay bath this evening.

In other news, I was feeling rather desperate today, so I bought some other (allegedly "natural", and annoyingly expensive) products that I thought might help.

Is anyone familiar with the brand Andalou Naturals?

I bought a "Beta Hydroxy Complex" from that brand that claims to do what I need for my uneven skin tone.

I also bought "Hyaluronic DMAE" cream from the same brand.

I'm going to give it a shot, although it's not as natural as I would prefer (although a lot of the ingredients are certified organic, and there aren't many ingredients that I'm wary of, unlike other "natural" brands").

I haven't done any research on the brand (for shame, I know...) but I suspect I'm about to. At least I can return it if it sucks, or if I scrutinize the ingredients and there's anything that really sticks out.

Here is a link, for those who are more informed on this type of thing than I am, if you want to take a look.

Also, make sure you always carry pure water with you and drink that. I don't think the cosmetics will help. I think you could fix it more with an internal helper.
However, the thought hit me to apply wheat grass to your skin. It is a total miracle substance.

Well...brief history of this.

Around 2006 or so, I started using this over the counter stuff, in addition to some prescription strength Retinol that my mom had from her doctor, after she had a professional chemical peel done.

I didn't pay a lot of attention to the instructions, and I didn't bother to stay out of the sun after I put it on. I've already done a few facepalms about this.

So that's when I started noticing the discoloration in my skin (mostly noticeable when I'm tan, as I mentioned...the light spots appear to stay the same, while the rest of my skin tans normally).

Since then I've gone for years being vegetarian, almost vegan, eating very healthy foods, keeping myself well hydrated, using a lot of herbs for skin and smoothies, etc.

None of that helped with the skin discoloration. I don't think it's a medical condition or anything like that.

Detoxifying from the inside out might well be helpful, although I've done a bit of that over the years as well.

So I'm kind of wondering if there's something that I can actually use externally that will help balance my skin tone, similar to helping fade scars.

Anyway, that's the story behind all of it.

I'm going to try the new products I bought, as they seem pretty harmless (and definitely a transparent company, with a lot of organic ingredients), but if anyone has any thoughts on natural, homemade solutions (or other products) that I can apply externally, I would really appreciate any input.

Sadly, the lemon juice seems to make the light spots worse, as I mentioned.

Oh well...I'm not disfigured or anything, but it's nice to go without makeup, and I have a hard time doing that with it being so noticeable in the Summer. :-/

Thanks for all of your input, ladies.

Yeah, that's actually one of the precautions for St. John's Wort.

It is very rare, but it can sometimes trigger photo-sensitivity.

I would recommend Calendula Creme, but you already said that is your favourite.

Does it help?

Ugh. I had a nice reply all typed up and sent, and my computer froze.

That's a great idea, Ellyn, thank you.

The only calendula cream that I've used is the Honey Calendula moisturizer from Kiss My Face. I LOVED it on my skin, but it was a bit heavy for my face, I think. Maybe I'll try it again.

Otherwise, I mostly use the Calendula oil that I buy (which is organic, and pretty spendy) for ointments and salves. I've never really tried it on my face on a regular basis.
It's also pretty thick of course, so I might need to mix it with something a little lighter in order to avoid having my pores get clogged.

Any recommendations?

Eh...I haven't planted any in the garden yet.

You can apply the bentonite clay directly on your skin to suck the toxins out. I read this somewhere but have not tried it. It supposedly works on excema a patches or psoriasis.

Thanks...

I do that on a semi-regular basis (mix the dry bentonite clay with organic apple cider vinegar, and let it set on my face, neck, and shoulders.

Or if I have time I also apply it to my feet and ankles.

It hasn't helped with this particular issue, however.

But it does feel AMAZING!

Ah, no worries!

I made a batch of facial scrub with organic sugar, calendula oil, lavender oil, tea tree oil, and olive oil (I'm out of my jojoba oil, which I prefer).

I used that, and then used the moisturizer I bought. Hopefully all of it combined will help.
