Mars rules the sign of Aries, and its natural House is the 1st House. Its orbit takes approximately two years.

Mar’s primary function in one’s chart is out-directed self-projection; energetic emotional activity. The Sign and House locations, along with any aspects to other natal planets or points within a natal chart indicate the emotional self-expression approach of the individual to his or her environment. All drives associated with this planet are inevitably accompanied by an emotional conponent. Emotion is the way that the body feels when it is prepared or stimulated for particular action or reaction. With Mars all emotions involve the individual’s personal involvement in the experience that activated the emotion. The more intimate the emotion, the more intense the action or reaction. The action or reaction can vary over a wide scale, from very violent to self-assertiveness depending upon the sign, House and Aspects involved, and the awareness of the individual.

Some positive Keywords associated with Mars are: Courage, energy, activity, initiative, and originality. Some less positive Keywords are: arrogant, aggressive, headstrong, selfish, and impulsive.

The pure Mars energy represents our basic expression of self through our actions and reactions in our environment. That pure raw Mars potential energy is harnessed by the Sign and House locations along with the aspects it forms in the individual chart to create our unique emotional expression potential for this lifecycle. The House Sign and aspects act as an emotional energy governor to direct our self-expression energy in a focused direction; much as a lens focuses light to a sharp hot point.

In the next several posts we will discuss Mars location in various Signs Houses and the effects of its aspects.

Hi Lanny
Thanks for getting the Mars string started. It's gone very quiet on this forum but hopefully things will start to pick up once Merc & Mars go direct

I'm a bit slow myself lately - trying to shake of a bad dose of flu which has turned bronchial
Hope things are good with you

No problem Cat. I've decided to take retirement since I can't find a job. Actually I think its time to take time to relax alittle. My social security and Navy retirements will provide enough to make it. I can also make up to $960/month without affecting my retirement.

This will allow me to have time to do those things I enjoy, astrology, Fishing, and hunting.

Lots of love

Lanny

Hi Lanny
Yes it's tough finding work....it's still eluding me....once again on hold waiting for people to get back to re potential work. I'm majorly hoping once Merc and Mars go direct at the end of this month that things will start to happen.

I wish you much happiness in your retirement That's good news that you'll get the time to do the things you enjoy
Sue

PS: I've been meaning to ask you, is it ok if I email you as I wanted to ask you something about transits to the natal nodes?

wEvils' useless Mars trivia:

Mars is actually quite a surprising planet. For a start, its VERY asymmetrical, the largest mountain in the solar system (Olympus Mons) sits on top of an enourmous bulge in the planets' crust (the Tharsis Bulge).

On the other side the planets' crust is somewhat collapsed into a huge basin. This is probably because Mars was hit by another planetisimal aeons ago when the solar system was forming.

The atmosphere is thin Carbon Dioxide and while Mars has Ice Caps, they are very small.

Mars is possibly the biggest solar candidate for terraforming (if we ever get that far)
