i have been away from the boards for awhile looking for work and signing up for masssage school and sitting by the lake etc... but i bought a book by Carol Rushman (a local astrologer) called "the art of predictive astrology".

i dont mean to **** anyone off but she seems like a charlatan, i have ABSOLUTELY no interest in predictions and stuff like that, i am only interested in astrology from a psychological perspective and the transits and progressions still seem important from a psychological perspective.

anyway, thats why i bought the book (to learn about transits and progressions) but i havent had much luck with it. the technical info seems to take a back-seat to mumbo-jumbo stuff.

can we start learning progressions and transits?

You have to learn the basics before you can get into the advanced.

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll

Randall's right beebuddy.

I think I recommended that book to you as well. Interesting that you didnt like it that much. I'm suprised you didnt find any useful info in it. You will find with most books that get into transits and progressions, they will be speaking of the predictive aspect of astrology. Not to say that the psychological aspect is not involved at all, because they ARE intertwined, but, you mostly look at those two things to see the energies coming up for you. There are many other books out there that you might find you like more.

"Can we start learning transits and progressions?"

Sure, you are free to learn them whenever you want to. Dont let anything hold you back. I started learning a few years ago by buying all of the books I could find on the subjects. This is something lala and I have offered to do here. Right now, I have alot going on and dont have time to make up lessons for you on transits and progressions. I'm not even done with what I wanted to do with the natal astrology part of it. Trans. and Progs. are complex subjects and would take alot of time to delve into, something I dont have alot of right now.

May I make another book recommendation?
Maybe you would like Steven Forrest's - The Changing Sky.

In any case, best of luck.

thanks guys,

the book was ok, but the author mentioned some stories from her personal life that were disturbing.

ill look at it again and keep studying, but i see a BIG difference between "current influences" and predictions.

i look for that other book while im in madison.

thats the thing about astrology
we are all so different, even twins
when a transiting or progressed planet triggers (aspects) a natal planet it puts into effect all the aspects that planet makes in the natal chart.

Sometimes a progressed or transiting planet will make hard aspects but not trigger anything in the natal chart.

For any progressed event to happen the rule is it must first be shown in the natal chart.

The examples that were given in the book were as they pertain to the author and even though you may have a similar transits or progressions the effect will not be the same.
