Hi Ghanima,

This is your thread, the one I will be answering you on. Nice chart Aries Ascendant 19 degrees 41'. (conjunct my sun by 1 minute ) Your Chart ruler is Mars (17 Aquarius), making a tight opposition with your Moon (17 Leo). This sets the tone of your chart since its so close to exact. And involves your ruler. Notice that the Moon trines the Asc. and Mars sextiles the Asc.

Aries Ascendant

(Howard Sasportas)

With the fiery sign of Aries rising, the person should meet life in a straightforward and energetic manner: 'Here I am, notice me, now let's get things started'. There is a need to be decisive, take action, and 'own' the power to create and direct the life. The core of Aries rising is finding this creative potency within, not waiting around for things to happen. Life is best viewed as an adventure, quest and challenge. If other placements in the chart indicate a meek or withdrawn nature, there will be more struggle in developing the Aries qualities. If the Aries Ascendant is denied expression, the inner frustration which accumulates could periodically explode in illness, dramatic or wild outbursts, unruly fits of anger, or other forms of self-destructive behaviour. If the rest of the chart is already fairly fiery, the Aries Ascendant allows the assertiveness to flow freely, but with the danger of being too forceful or overly egocentric - which in the end may be self-defeating.

If Aries is rising then the opposite sign, Libra, will be on the Descendant, beckoning the person to balance rampant automony with some degree of consideration for another person. However, if those with this Ascendant have to choose one extreme or the other, it is probably wisest that they err in favour of self-assertion and daring rather than hold back too much for the sake of keeping the peace or adapting to the requirements of others. After their own power has been found and the courage to be the self is freed, then they can learn to regulate, adjust and temper the nature accordingly. Ultimately, the Libra qualities of grace, forethought and consideration for another person's case and point of view will need to be included.

Physically, Aries rising may evince a lively, energetic face with intense but darting eye-contact. Movements are usually quick and impulsive, as if the person is ready at any moment to plunge headlong into some new activity. 'Don't stand in my way' may be the message subtly (or not so subtly) communicated to others.

Moon opposite Mars

Moon opposition Mars (Haydn Paul)

Inner tensions and unresolved issues are likely to be projected into social relationships; and this creates difficult experiences and a scene for crises or turning points.

Your inner pressures are released within relationships, thorugh arguments, dissension, provocation, and antagonism; you take advantage of even trivial issues to turn them into energy-filled confrontations and clashes. This will obviously affect career prospects and domestic life; and these rebellious feelings will always be stimulated by anyone imposing his or her will on you through authority, orders, or criticism. Anyone crossing this line and irritating your feelings is liable to be confronted by an extremely obstinate and stubborn character. Co-workers will soon lose patience with an emotionally erratic colleague, who can suddenly become aggressive when facing criticism or personal comment; and people will learn to withdraw from contact if you behave in this way.

You feel emotionally uncomfortable; and others may find you hard to understand. You need to resolve the difficulty of instincts and emotions co-operating with an active and assertive Martian energy. Sometimes you may favour one of the planets; and, when this is temporarily Mars, you are liable to act impulsively, making sudden decisions which could be irrational, foolish, and lacking in forethought. Yet such actions may sometimes allow you to break free from restrictive situations. Expressing the lunar energy may encourage cautious self-protection, remaining with the status quo, and being afraid to move beyond familiar behaviour patterns. The challenge is to unite both energies, honouring each as equally valid and necessary for a well-balanced personality.

Part of this aggressive and assertive nature may be rooted in your relationship with your mother. Childhood feelings may have been denied through a lack of emotional contact, or through having to submit to an oppressive home régime of duty and behaviour. In adult life, you refuse to submit to this again, yet unconsciously repeat the pattern by attempting to impose your will on others. Hoping to gain superiority, you may be too assertive in your desire to become a leader and not a follower. This often results in a distorted self-image, both to yourself and to others, as you fall into the trap of becoming 'number one' and behaving in ways which are cold, arrogant, and overly assertive. You hate others resisting your will; and when this happens, you respond iwth a personal attack. Sometimes such an antagonistic stance may succeed; but eventually its costs far exceed those of other more moderate approaches.

Yet your personality can appear attractive to many; and there is certainly a validity that can intrigue some, even though it is often a distorted expression of the planetary energies. Choosing companions, both friends and lovers, is one area where weaknesses may appear, as you are often attracted to people who turn out to be unsuitable characters with equally volatile emotional difficulties. Intimate relationships may be limited to physical expression, or entered for material reasons, as you may repress the deeper emotional and subtler dimensions of interpersonal contact.

Sustaining relationships is difficult as time passes; and once initial atttractions fade, relationships collapse; satiating superficial feelings is easier than dealing with your deeper needs; and you prefer to avoid these. You are drawn toward 'exciting experiences' which lead into dubious areas of life, where 'excitement' may not prove beneficial. Much depends on your choice of fellow travellers, as personality tendencies can dissipate and deplete energies if efforts are not consistently made to reunify conflicting traits. In a similar way, you may fail to fulfill promises made to others through inner changeability; and commitment and responsible behavior may not be your strongest assets.

Routines and partnerships may fail to satisfy; and reactions against fixed life-style patterns may pose relaxation difficulties, creating psychosomatic illnesses associated with stomach tensions and digestion problems.

Repressing genuine feelings is not wise. You may need to acknowledge your lunar qualities more openly, and find space in your life to allow proper expression. Lessons are needed to discover how compromise is important in developing better relations. You may need to find new forms of self-assertion, which recognize that others exist too and should be given equal respect. This can help to moderate your overbearing tendencies. Through greater insight, you can gain relationship clarity, with perspective, realism, and more positive attitudes proving highly transforming as self-centeredness diminishes. Accepting the need to live harmoniously with others can readjust your sense of proportion and help you realize that you can contribute to the well-being of all, instead of merely indulging in alienated antagonism. Transforming this imbalanced side of your nature will bring considerable personal benefits, improving self-esteem and peace of mind. Achieving this will also heal uncomfortable emotions; and, once their stressful, hidden, contaminating effect on you is reduced, you can discover a clarity of thought and decisive action which can be used for your advantage.

Whoa. It's gonna take me a minute to process that, Lalalinda, so I will be back in a few to make comments.....this part was pretty darn scary:

Holy poop.

Yeah, this is so true it's disgusting. It's a stupid pattern I wish I could break. I think I need to take a hint from Pisceans and not make promises... they seem to know that that kind of thing never leads anywhere good, and that life is very interchangable, you can't predict what will happen, so making promises seems so futile to me now...

Your inner pressures are released within relationships, thorugh arguments, dissension, provocation, and antagonism; you take advantage of even trivial issues to turn them into energy-filled confrontations and clashes. This is interesting to me because I hate confrontation. It makes me feel sick to my stomach, get the shakes, and ultimately cry. This is confrontation between others, not including myself. I do tend to draw drama to my life, part of that 'excitement' seeking thing? I don't know... but it has become a very obvious trait that I'm not that proud of. But yeah, anyone trying to tell me what to do, or what they think I should do usually results in me doing the exact opposite. Kinda like 'reverse psychology'. Try and put your beliefs on me, and you will be met with some pretty serious resistance. And criticism, forget about it, it always hurts my feelings more than it should, no matter how constructive it may be, I take things quite personally.

Well... that's all for now...

hello Ghani,

So how is transiting Jupiter affecting you? With it sitting on your Descendants expect offers from everyone

Moon trine Ascendant (Robert Pelletier)

The Moon trine the Ascendant gives you an easy-going disposition and allows you to derive much pleasure from creative expression. You are imaginative, sensitive, emotionally poised, and articulate in expressing yourself. You appreciate the sense of values that your parents have instilled in you, and you are prepared to take advantage of your sensitive intellect and develop your own mental resources and ideas. Being resourceful, you will find the way to capitalize on your talents, even though it may be difficult to find the necessary funds to accomplish what you want. You may be forced to do without some necessities, but you feel it is worth it if your main objectives can thus be realized. Unless you are alert, people will try to take advantage of your good nature to benefit themselves. You should require your friends to prove their worth before accepting them completely. You cannot afford to be indifferent to your own needs in relationships, whether casual or intimate.

You have sufficient talent to make a substantial contribution to your career. You realize that in order to succeed you must make sacrifices in your personal affairs. This might mean deferring marriage until you can get the education you need to succeed in your professional endeavors. You want to know that you've exploited your creative potentials, and you want the fulfillment that this brings.

Your marital partner must always remain a lover, so that you will continue to make substantial contributions to maintain the fascination and excitement of your first encounter.

You need to know you are wanted, and you are crushed if your efforts are unappreciated, especially by those to whom you've been the most generous.

Whoa!!

That is so true right now! I have been writing a ton of poetry/songs and sketching like mad lately. After work, I've been delving into my mind and tapping into all the creativity that I have stifled for the past year or so, and it feels wonderful to expel all that emotion in such a positive way!

Being resourceful, you will find the way to capitalize on your talents, even though it may be difficult to find the necessary funds to accomplish what you want. You may be forced to do without some necessities, but you feel it is worth it if your main objectives can thus be realized.

Is there a camera crew following me around? That is sooo what is going on right now!! I'd have to say this is the hardest and most frustrating time I can remember in my life thus far. Lots of changes have taken place in the past few months (fixed sign, like change? NOOOO!!) that could easily get me down in a rut, but I'm trying very hard to remain grounded about them and accept them as they are meant to be. I am also trying to positively affect these changes by not just sitting back and letting things happen negatively, but being proactive about what I want out of them. It is not a fast process, but it is one that I know is nessecary for me at this time, and that the lessons learned will help me get that much closer to where I need to be on my path.

hello Ghanima,

You're on Mercury right now, yours is in the 11th house conjunct Mars (Aquarius) I can totally relate to this aspect as I have the Square and many people in my family have the conjunction. This is a hyper-active aspect, these days its called ADHD.

Think about it, you've got the mental processing planet (Mercury) energized by Mars. Zap! Quick, smart and in an Uranium house it gives you a special genius. In Aquarius your views are progressive and far sighted (as in the future)

Mercury in the 11th house
(Stephanie Camilleri)

This location of Mercury strengthens the ego, making it easy to set long-term goals and stick to them. These people generally appear to be flexible and easy to get along with to those with whom they interact briefly; but over a length of time or from a distance it is apparent that they have been working inexorably towards personal goals all along. This says nothing of what kinds of goals they will choose; they may be the best possible or they may be totally irrational, linked to childhood fears, etc., but in either case these people will go after what they want until they get it, whether it is good for them or not. They will go through any number of horrific experiences, if necessary, in order to get what they want.

They are usually attractive, often with an electric quality to the personality that attracts others to them. Sometimes this electric quality is out in the open, blazing directly from their eyes; sometimes there is a veiled quality, as though masked, but waiting to blaze out.

Whatever their financial circumstances may be, they usually appear to others to be well-off and to be able to get whatever they need whenever they want it.

They appear to be unconcerned with theie own image, but actually they do care immensely how they look to others. They generally think quite well of themselves, and thus it is easy for them to create an exciting style.

They may be somewhat callous toward those nearest to them. They are more interested in their own feelings than they are in the feelings of others, and more interested in those who are interested in them than they are in those who aren't. However, much as they like others to be attracted to them, they are not deceived by flattery. They like to measure their effect on others by how many they can attract, yet they themselves will also be subject to powerful attractions to individuals or groups.

They are the busy bees of ideas, carrying them from one group to another, buzzing with excitement, pollinating the mind of humanity. Yet it is not really ideas that excite them; it is the people who have the ideas; or perhaps, in their eyes, these are one and the same.

Mercury in Aquarius
(Frances Sakoian and Louis Acker)

Mercury in the sign Aquarius indicates a mind that is open to new experience. The ability to see things in the light of impersonal truth gives a mind that is truthful, unbiased, and objective. To peopl ewith this position, the truth must come first; they have little concern for traditional or socially acceptable ideas if these conflict with facts or first-hand experience. Here is the secret of their originality. Because of their impersonal objectivity, these people are not easily surprised by anything they may see or experience. Thus they can accept things others would find unnerving or incomprehensible.

Mercury in Aquarius is in its exaltation; consequently, these individuals have the ability to know that reason exists as a patterning of the Universal Mind, of which the individual mind is but a submechanism. Thus, Mercury in Aquarius manifests its highest intuitive faculties through communication with the larger Universal Mind, transcending the individual ego. The ability of the natives to experience extends beyond the five physical sense. Because Aquarius is a fixed sign, the mental energy is stabilized and concentrated, so that it is capable of receiving ideas from the archetypal realms of consciousness. Some have the ability to perceive the mind itself as an energy field and its contents as energy patterns. People with Mercury in Aquarius are likely to be telepathic.

The direct experience of higher states of energy also gives scientific insight into the workings of material manifestations. Natives see reality as it is on the microcosmic level - a pattern of energy pulses in motion. Because Saturn co-rules Aquarius, there is good mental organization and concentration, often leading to mathematical ability, which is one reason why this position produces scientists.

The ability to see things in broad terms promotes humanitarianism and concern with the spiritual unfolding of humanity. This is an excellent position for astrology and all forms of occult study.

People with this position of Mercury like to function in conjunction with others; hence they become involved with group and organizational work. They seek mental stimulation through friendship.

Mercury conjunct Mars
(Karen Hamaker-Zondag)

Contacting people and talking to them (Mercury) is speeded up by Mars. These people are liable to speak quickly and to the point, and are always ready to have their say. It looks as if they act first and think later. They are not afraid to stand up for themselves and are only marginally interested in whether or not others agree. They can vigorously defend an idea - sometimes too vigorously - and they do not mince words.

With this conjunction, thoughts never stand still, although they are not always steadily applied. Mars is naturally rather uncontrolled; and Mercury, too, encourages these people to jump from one subject to another. Therefore this is not a good position for prolonged concentration, but is more suitable for quickly absorbing, arranging and providing masses of data.

These people need to take care not to speak too fiercely. Mars can make people tactless and can cause them to blurt out things that others may find offensive. Indeed, any aspect between Mars and Mercury can sharpen the tongue. With the conjunction, these people can be very sarcastic and satirical, becoming formidable opponents in debate but also making enemies.

Mercury conjunct Mars is impatient when others take time to put their thoughts into words; and people with the conjunction are inclined to interrupt them in order to finish what they were going to say - which is why this aspect is said to indicate a bad listener. They are better at making contacts, holding conversations, gathering information, etc., than at listening to others. But, bluntly spoken though they may be, they are often very honest and straight-forward.

Amazingly accurate, as usual...

They are the busy bees of ideas, carrying them from one group to another, buzzing with excitement, pollinating the mind of humanity. Yet it is not really ideas that excite them; it is the people who have the ideas; or perhaps, in their eyes, these are one and the same.

In this statement I can see the pattern that has been my relationships past... friendships, anything, I flutter from group to group, person to person, and sparks fly off my fingertips and from my mouth... I am just completly infatuated with humanity, I can't sit still, I can never rest. It's a curse at times, I'm learning to shut up and listen more though, concentrating on one person at a time.

Here is the secret of their originality. Because of their impersonal objectivity, these people are not easily surprised by anything they may see or experience. Thus they can accept things others would find unnerving or incomprehensible.

Very true. That's the best description of this trait I've come across.

This sounds so pompus, but I've often felt I can read people, like, not just that they are sad or happy, but what specifically they are sad or happy about, even if I don't know them. I'm sure a lot of people would think I'm nuts, but I have a very easy time communicating with others because of my ability to relate to anyone, anywhere, anytime... It's like, I can see things in them that have made them who they are, and know what to say to make them at ease and comfortable. Does that make any sense?

Mars can make people tactless and can cause them to blurt out things that others may find offensive. Indeed, any aspect between Mars and Mercury can sharpen the tongue. With the conjunction, these people can be very sarcastic and satirical, becoming formidable opponents in debate but also making enemies.

This is funny, because a lot of my close friends call me 'Goes too Far', as I'm not afraid to take a joke to the step beyond funny, to what others are thinking but are afraid to say. I have no desire to make others uncomfortable, I just think people should be who they are, not cover up parts of themselves because it's not 'socially acceptable' aka ''cool''.
