What the heck do you look at when a planet is considered to be "transiting?" Conjunctions? All aspects? The geometry? WHAT THE HECK!?

ok hehe, so basically, when the transiting planet makes an aspect to a natal planet, THEN WHAT? I think that is probably happening most, if not all the time to most people considering the amount of possibilities of combinations of planets and aspects.

Beebuddy,

In looking at aspects transiting planets (planets moving in the sky) are making to birth planets, take a look at the aspects, but also keep in mind that this is a MOVING chart. So some of the planets are moving CLOSER ("applying"), some are EXACTLY conjunct ("exact"), and some are moving AWAY ("separating") from the birth planets. In general look at the "exact" aspects to see the strongest energy of the moment and look to the "applying" planets to find out what are the upcoming/developing issues. Look to the "separating" planets to see what are the issues which are recently past (and maybe get an ephemeris to see how long these aspects were applying and when they became exact).

Personally, because these are MOVING planets, I do not look at the "planetary geometry" (aspect patterns, chart patterns, etc.), but instead look only at the aspects.

Exactly,

Tim

when looking at transits I look 1st for conjunctions and oppositions because you really feel these.

In the case of a conjunction you look at your natal grid (what shows your aspects) and all the planets that are aspected by the planet in question, these will be activated.

An example would be transiting Saturn conjunct natal Sun. Now lets say in the natal you have the Sun opposite your natal Moon. By transit Saturn is also opposing the Moon.

as always great work Tim.

AHHHHHH, thanks Lalalinda! I kinda sensed a bias from some astrologers regarding the conjunctions which is what inspired the question. I can see how those can be considered powerful.
