I think synastry and composites can show HOW a couple might be compatible or incompatible, and/or how various dynamics and energies will likely play out in their relationship if they get involved.

But I don't think these charts can show WHETHER the two people will choose to get involved, or the degree of importance of that involvement. And there are so many ways the different energies and dynamics might play out--it's important to look very closely at each person's natal chart as well as the partner tools.

I was just writing today on another thread how, years ago, I plugged a bunch of different birth information into those Soul Mate/Twin Flame calculators and plenty of the people who were real life couples came up as not very connected/incompatible, and plenty of the people who were strangers to each other and/or would never be involved romantically came up high---it's meaningless to "rate" people's level of connection, especially since it's so often used by people on astrology websites to validate their unrequited crushes on guys who are, like, LIVING WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

The charts are a map, not the territory. They can give part of the picture, and help you navigate certain parts of the territory--the parts that are on the map. They cannot give you a whole picture of reality, and they are MEANINGLESS without reference to the territory you're mapping. We would read a synastry between a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, for example, differently from a synastry between a husband and wife.

I've often thought that--unless you're in a place/lifestyle where you're doing an arranged marriage---you shouldn't check a synastry/composite for romantic potential until AFTER you've kissed. because everyone has some heavy duty compatibility indicators with lots of strangers, platonic friends, random aunts and uncles and people who are not interested back.

I think it's not a good idea to have any expectations, positive or negative, based on the charts. Maybe it's fun to match feelings to aspects, but there's nothing to say how long it's going to last. Not in the charts.

One of my brothers and his wife have mostly oppositions with a seriously afflicted composite. They're the kind of couple who make you sick, they are so adorable, after falling in love at first sight 30 years ago.

Hi Saturn8, synastry looks fine: 90% overall synergy potential. Composite of 70% means you would both have to work to make a longterm partnership successful. Not easy, but not too difficult with mutual commitment. Astrology only shows potentials. Willingness to intimately relate, and availability of both partners are key.

Wow -- this is powerful synastry.

Aligned angles (AC conjunct IC and AC conjunct MC), north node conjunct IC, plenty of Saturn (not always fun but it's superglue)... there's a ton of energy between the two of you and I'm not surprised you've been stuck on him for so long.

The hard aspects generate energy. They're important. If there's something the two of you need from each other to grow in life (probably the case, with your nodes aligned with his IC/MC axis), the hard aspects lock you down and force you to evolve (if you let yourselves). I wouldn't fear them or consider them bad; just potentially challenging. He activates your first house of identity and second house of values, which can create a big draw on your end as well.

The composite is also very strong with Venus right on the ASC and Saturn right on the DSC. The 12th house planets are a little tricky, but even the sun is getting pulled by the ascendant, and the Venus/sun conjunction stands for love -- and very overtly expressed love, being exuded by the ascendant. Saturn on the descendant can require a lot of maturity and draw in learning/growing-up experiences if the two of you become a real couple.

Unaspected Venus doesn't mean you don't love him. Just that your love has difficulty connecting with him in full expression. Your love is sort of locked away in a separate room and is clamoring around trying to reach him, but can't quite get there -- you feel it plenty but that doesn't mean you can easily unload it onto him.

The unaspected sun in synastry would concern me but it looks like it might actually be trine his Mercury (wide orb). If not, speaking from experience, you might be crazy about him but there would be trouble finding the full expression of your identity within the context of the relationship.

This has many signatures of a powerful relationship, even if not always an easy one. There are definitely some harmonious aspects too (I like the two-way moon/Mercury sextile and sun/Neptune sextile and Saturn trine sun). This doesn't look scary to me; just loaded.
