Hello all,

Today I want to talk about composite Mars opposite Neptune…

Truly, one of my least favorite aspects. I hate this one. I don’t want to be fatalistic, as every chart is 100% situational, but this one would be top of my “red flag” list.

In my experience, almost every single relationship with this aspect had something very wrong about it. Deceit, lying— or even one person totally involved in what seems like a great relationship, while the other one is putting in the motions, hoping they’ll eventually come around, but the entire time they are either thinking of someone else or incredibly emotionally unavailable.

My mom had this aspect with her fiancé, and turns out he was married the entire time. She had no idea until she registered for their marriage license.
(This is a very karmic relationship spanning decades. They are still in love, but not together. Their relationship fundamentally changed my perception of love. Their composite sun is exactly-- to the minute-- conjunct Venus. He has a Taurus stellium in her 7H opposite her Neptune. Her Mars and Descendant conjuncts his North Node in Aries.)

So, I want to hear your experiences with this aspect. Have you experienced it to be an indication of deceit?

I think this aspect could also indicate a rebound relationship-- where one person is happy-go-luckily with someone, but the other is still hung up on their ex, trying to make them jealous, or trying to prove to themselves they are attractive to others. There is *something* off about the relationship.

not fatalistic, but actually very realistic to consider this aspect a red flag.

a few ways this aspect shows up:

- you do not see each other's angry side and it might shock you once it comes out (mars is convoluted by neptune). the silver lining in this case is that when mars is opposite neptune it is usually trine pluto. so you might actually get the best out of this person, and only see their angry side when other people are present and the anger is unlikely to ever be against you. but it is a passive aggressive aspect so there might be subtle digs at you too. and the davison chart might show a different story so that should be considered too.

- if you are in a romantic relationship and you have this aspect someone is very likely to cheat on the other. then the other person might cheat once the other person has decided to be more loyal. rarely would both be cheating on one another at the same time. at best you'd enjoy an open relationship (who really does that?)

- if you do not get in a relationship with this person one might be very sexually infatuated with the other. might consider them their ideal sex partner and often fantasize about them sexually.

- if no sexual factor is involved with this aspect you might actually be affecting each other negatively on an energetic level. e.g. one will totally be draining the other one energetically. the drained person might feel ill, despondent, etc.
it is likely that the roles will reverse at some point if the people are involved for a longer period of time.
this is the thing with it being an opposition. it's usually about taking turns.

- one might be deliberately manipulating and lying to the other person about whatever they're trying to gain from the relationship.

if this aspect is within 8-10 degress i wouldn't really consider it though. the effects would be barely felt or would take many years to take any effect.

about your point that one person might actually be into someone else the entire time (if not both).
i was thinking about this a while ago. i think it's a possibility.

overall it just shows that there is no fidelity, there are other people / relationships interfering and that the sexual compatibility is in fact not very good.

Spent about 4-5 years with this aspect Double Whammy with someone, alongside another person where it was still Mars opp Neptune, but their Mars squared my Pluto stellium.

I'll be honest, although the mutual Mars opp Neptune came about first, it outlasted the other by a few years. It was also the one I 'escaped' into to get away from the Mars square
(though a lesser extent).

Getting into the DW Mars opposite Neptune ... They were 4 sister signs, so we had all 4 elements going. There was some level of harmony with that, but it was circumstantially a very Neptunian time in my life. Met through the very on the nose ways; partying/alcohol/distant events - Their Neptune in Sagittarius, my Mars in Gemini playing out there a lot.

But with my Capricorn Neptune- I have to say my saving grace might have been that I have Saturn conjunct my Neptune. I don't tend to fall under the same spells once I realize what's going on. The moment the spell is broken, I am unable to find it again. At the time, perhaps because it was before my Saturn Return, I kept looking for it, despite it being gone. It's very embarrassing! But I also make great efforts to not shame anyone for learning curves. We're all doin' our best.

Anyway, the Neptune in Sagittarius gen has a one up on me if I get caught in the fisherman's net. My Gemini Mars is RX, so it takes a longer time for me to process through situations. (Also, I'm autistic- taking things literally and also being in the sway of the magic of people, well).

My lessons learned were to ABSOLUTELY trust what suspicions come up, to pay attention to the broken glass of an ideal image. Let things go when they are rotting on the branch. My take is a little more harsh with Saturn's influence, but I will say, for Neptune's haze, it can be a lifeline.
