I'm new to asteroids and one of my friends says that they're ' Just chunks of rock in the sky ' and he's not convinced of their potential.

But I would like to explore asteroids specifically in synastry further, and would like a beginning point

True that this is the Asteroid Forum; however, I'm trying to keep all synastry threads together. Moving to Interpersonal Astrology.

I like to use the ones that have been written about with some depth and seem to have lots of people with personal experience willing to share.

Personally I only pay attention to conjunctions and oppositions with 2 degree max (because I find it hard to imagine any effectiveness as they are small bodies - maybe the trine or square if close to exact). Others may disagree - there doesn’t really seem to be any rules.

Chiron - usually where a wound or difficulty is
Eros - for erotic attraction
Juno - for commitment
Black Moon Lilith - for sexual desire

These 4 should have lots of information available and the top three have a myth behind them while the last is biblical. You will find they lead you to others but sometimes I think it gets too much with asteroids because it seems a mythology is based around the name of the asteroid when it could be innocently named after a place or the discoverer (in another language too). Also if you have too many listed a synastry chart can get too crowded to read clearly.

Hope this helps
