I'm writing a book, setting up my own website to self-publish.

Just in the vague design phase.

Stuck on colors, colors colors everywhere!! Which ones to choose? It's oh so hard because I love them all!

I am leaning toward purple or indigo- as it is resonates to higher spiritual planes connected to the third eye and crown chakras. But it is very feminine.

I want something more neutral.

Which color shades do you think is more suitable for self publishing a book aimed at teenages for spiritual development?

Yellow: the color that the eye sees the fastest. Soft yellows can be cheering and make individuals feel sunny. Bright yellow used as an accent that attracts attention and helps to brighten a room, but in large amounts yellow can be over-stimulating.

Green: the ultimate pacifier. Often associated with nature. It is both relaxing and reassuring. Pale yellow-greens conjure images of growth while deep greens are associated with status and wealth.

Blue: arouses feelings of freshness, coolness and relaxation. In lighter hues, blue is airy and open, while dark blues represent wealth, strength and respect, evoking the feelings of reassurance in individuals.

Purple: a noble color in its deepest values, yet it can be flowery and refreshing in pale violet colorings. Deep purple is rarely used in large amounts, but is a great effect as an accent color.

Red: attracts attention, causes excitement, and even raises blood pressure. Intense red is stimulating; however, it can also be distracting in large amounts. Red is associated with wealth and sophistication, while high value reds (pinks) can make people feel good about the way they look.

Orange: stimulating in its pumpkin orange hue or warm in its terracotta and peach version. As with other intense colors, orange can be distracting, but it is ideal for attracting attention to details.

Black: evokes feelings of fright but also transcends the feelings of elegance, excitement and wealth. Like white, black is a color of contradictions that relies largely on the effect of the other colors used with it. Black can make large spaces seem smaller and more intimate.

White: sterile, airy and refreshing, depending on what other colors it is combined with, while making smaller spaces feel larger and more spacious.

This is a real conundrum.

I don't think purple is feminine.

I don't think purple's feminine either. I always associate it with Jesus, Easter etc.

How's it coming along, SunChild?

The purple spectrum/family of colors is not feminine in my opinion either.
I really hate that some societies assign gender
labels to colors.
Color is genderless.
Societal conditioning traps people into assigning gender to colors.
This is so very wrong!
Colors should not be classed in such a way.
It leads too often to unkindness and stereotyping, so people are afraid to use, wear, express, and so forth....
their personal love for whatever color they love, or colors.
Pink is for girls, blue is for boys.
Why?
A boy who loves pink or pastels is insulted.

Or giving attributes to colors.
Folks who wear black, labeled witches even nowadays, or dark and evil.

Color is also subjective and objective.
I love to wear black, yet love all colors, but would not wear them.
I love nature colors, not black as to what I see round me.
I love shockingly bright rich colors in some objects.

OK....got off track...

Are you wanting to have the website reflect you/and the reason for the site....
Or do you want to only please the public, whilst sacrificing what you like/want and want to express?

Yeah I'd have to agree with you Lexx

While I am thinking about what pleases others-I might not be pleasing myself, perhaps what really pleases others the most is what pleases me.

Got it.

Yes it was me

I just realised we both have a thing for humming birds my mother who is a taurus has one tatooed on her shoulder. I drew (a lame colorful sketch) of one for her. we're not speaking much at the moment.

I'll send you a link via email if you like, I would love your critique.

Im still in the middle of writing this book, it came as inspiration for my daughter, I want to share everything I have in my spirit and my heart with her when she is of age to mature spiritually.

My heart really goes out to teenagers and a lot of young people I know who's lives are spiritually barren. It drives me to inspire magic and awe back into their being.
This book is writing itself (once I made the decision to commit), and I type type type away, save it, hate it, but then two weeks later I will read the chapter that I wrote and say "yes", perfect, this is it! It's not coming from me exactly, but I am so grateful that it's coming- some of the ideas pop up in the middle of writing, and I go with it.
