I had made a suggestion in another thread about having a Physical Oneness Forum but I don't know how that would go down.
Anyway I think that there should be a Forum that has debates on Relgious principles. Not a place where people can preach and whatnot but where you can compare different belief systems and make see what people around here think. The reason I think that this would be (at least a good temporary forum) is, there seems to be animosity towards Christianity especially and maybe it could be talked about. I don't think that a thread would do it because it would probably just become a thread of self-righeousness and resentment and nothing would be accomplished. But with a forum maybe there would be one or two of those threads and then...Anyway, it could be called Spiritual Unity or somthing like that. I know "we" try to say away from talking about organised religion here but this could be different because it could be approaced from a Universalism point of view. It could be a rather inflammatory situation but hey, what isn't

I think that there is a thread that asks for suggestions for a new forum but I don't know where it is.

Hi Silverbells

I think Uni-versal Code encompass`s most of our spiritual insights. It`s shared pretty much through out all the forums.

quote:

While I think this is a wonderful idealistic statement, it comes down to perspective again. I wouldn`t feel 'preachy' sharing but knowflake#1 would take offence and the snowball starts rolling. Keep the faith that an idealistic avenue will be kept open where beliefs are mutally shared, embraced in total love and acceptance.

"Physical Oneness"? ...Geez, silverbells, I thought you were asking for a forum for sex talk! My first reaction was "Holy jumpin jack fish, now your talking! That's a brilliant idea!!!...we could have one of those disclaimers at the beginning, we wouldn't have to worry about offending more discrete and victorians types...Great idea! "

Then, I read further and realized...Yeah, that's not exactly what you had in mind. But it's still a good idea.

Must be that Virgo moon, juni.....I'm a bit slow on the uptake, joke/humor-wise that is. I think Virgos are not the lightest of thinkers. They take everyone and everything too literally. Believe me, I've been there.

pixel - *shakes head ot pixel* No it was not intentional. Get your mind out of the Cosmopolitan magazine (Archie Bunker saying)

Juniperb - I am so idealistic, that is my biggest problem. I know that Uni-versal codes can be a place for the exloration of spiritual beliefs but I was thinking of a place where people could talk about any religion and compare. Cause it's really not safe to talk about Christian beliefs here - it may be said that it is safe but it's not. So then there would be a forum where religion is all that is talked about so noone can be attacked for being self-righteous or something like that. And I know that it is said that Linda was against organized religion but that does not mean that it can't be explored because it does bring out a lot of intense feelings and a subject that is that moving should be explored. But I suppose that there could be a problem with participation since it seems that around here, there is very little patience for anything other than paganism and atheism.

Hey what lighter side of posts are you talking about? Now I don't even know what going on.

lioneye - I was talking about a forum for "sex talk" but not dirty, I mean obviously sometimes Some people can't help themselves *looks at particular post* , but perhaps it could be a place where the spiritual aspects are explored. But I was thinking that perhaps it might get offensive or something and plus if someone gets to the point of sex with someone that they are with they probably won't want to share the particulars online so...

We have Soul Unions and Pilgrim's Progress. We have forums that are just for those subjects, but there is hardly a lot of people going into them.

Soul Unions is all about love and relationships, while Pilgrim's Progress is all about religion, mythology, astronomy, books, and paganism.

Yes, Pilgrim's Progress, of course. Well what is thought about the Physical Oneness forum idea? Yes there is a love and relationship forum but what about the Phys. One. Just for the record: I don't know often I would go into a forum like that.

Sex talk can be incorporated inside Soul Unions. To devote a forum for sex would end up going way out of line, because even if you mean well and I know you mean well, but visitors would write things that are so innappropriate and so irrelevant to what Linda believed. It would make Global Unity look like child's play. The moderator would be forced to work overtime in order to delete all of the garbage, and trust me that would make people extremely angry. I'm going to vote against it because I couldn't trust people to say nice things over the internet, especially since parents let young children visit here. Promiscuity would be promoted in some cases, and that would completely be against Linda Goodman's feelings. After all the site is in her honor. So I'm sorry it wouldn't be a good idea for all kinds of people. Also I wouldn't be surprised if there was a porno problem, and if Linda saw that let's say she'd be pretty temperemental.

I appreciate your point, most definately.
But I do feel, if handled in an adult way, with respect and also lightheartedness, it would be an acceptable way to incorporate this very real manifestation of life and love and reality into the place I adore so much.
I am the first to be childish in these areas, but I do it from love, and I mean, I am an adult, so I know what is too far... I try to be lighthearted and fun. Linda was big on passion.
I think the problem was in the threads started in the past, people complained of the nature of them, because there was no actual forum where these things could be spoken about (and each 'sex thread' has received more hits than probably any other.... I mean, seriously!! Who doesn't want to talk about it?) There wasn't an 'adult content' warning, other than common sense. (The titles usually started with a suggestive theme.....)
If there was a forum devoted to it, where you sign in a disclaimer, as in any case, whether it is an msn profile ( rated adult...) or a movie, or any facet of the web as well. People would know what they were getting into. Sex is a serious subject. What about all the misinformation.. or just plain sharing experiences.. my most fun times with friends have involved these steamy conversations. Everyone desires, everyone questions. It is inate and can't be denied.
I am sure there is a respectable way to present it without turning this into a stomping grounds for porn links, etc....
I mean, there are plenty other websites for that, but I feel there is room here for "Physical Oneness".... Or, knockin' boots. Most people desiring hard core porn need look no farther than google, and I doubt would be led here, of all places.... I think it can be sacred and respectable.

*And yeah right, silverbells, you'd be there posting right along with me!!!! *

Right, but this is over the internet. Trust me you can't control what people will say over the internet. You may talk about sex in a respectful way and few others too, but there will also be many others who will not obey the rules, and then say things that are so bad that people would get angry, upset, and hurt. Too many things would have to be deleted causing more anger and resentment. It's not easy to control, and I wouldn't even bother trying. Again we have Soul Unions. I'm fixed on my opinion. I don't think others would sustain themselves in a kind healthy role model way.

I don't care how popular the string is, it's only popular because sex attracts everyone, and I mean everyone including very dark people. Don't forget we have children here too.

I'm sorry I'm very stubborn and fixed in this area. Please don't take anything personal whatsoever. It doesn't need a forum of its own. Trust me. Porn would come around. There are many silent lurkers and trolls in these areas. I am a moderator so I would know.

Well, whether there is a forum or not, it exists. I contribute as well.
I think the idea of a forum devoted to it, is to sort of corale it, to define it, as people did have an opinion and it got heated in the past. It does exist, whether it is in it's place or not. And it will continue popping up in conversation, just like in normal life.
I think the introduction or at least the discussion of opening a dialogue about such a forum, is a good way to let everyone voice their opinions on the validity or need for it.
I do not think Linda would hate it personally, but then no one can speak for her but herself... I do know through reading her books, that she has a healthy opinion of sexual drives and she is a passionate Aries after all.... And yes, the moderator would be busy, but aren't you all, in your individual forums?
I guess the point is, acknowledged or not, it exists. I thought it was an excellent idea to put it in context. Who knows what would happen with it, surely not all you think. After all, sex is not the shameful mentally retarded cousin of the family dynamics, who is shepparded into the closet during civil discussions.... It is the way we are all created, the way we express love and fondness and pleasure, it is healthy and not dirty. If it were presented in a loving way... even a one-night-stand kinda' loving, it is something to be embraced, not denied.
Scorpio talking, Fifth house Venus... Need I say more?

A gardening/ecology forum? I would like to hear somethings about gardening and ecology. That could go far especially with the mysteries of plants. I would really like to have a garden but I have to wait until I got my own place to make a garden. Gardens are an emotional investment.

They are an emotional investment..

I'm so frustrated because I've been studying permaculture for more than a year now but since I move so frequently and rarely have any spare money, I've yet to actually put into practice all this learnin' that is swirlin around in my head. We are in a lease at our apt. until Sept. and we plan on moving then so I'm really reluctant to put $ and into a garden here.. Not to mention we are on the north side of the building waaaay up in the mountains were it ain't exactly a piece of cake to grow stuff..
*sigh*

Being a renter sucks.
