I purchased a ticket to France for May 30 to see my gf. Its not like she does not like my gf, she loves her! But I think it has more to do with my funds. I got a scholarship check for 1000 and was able to find a ticket for 750.I will still be able to pay rent and bills easily, cause I still have bi weekly checks from work, and I can survive on just those. Plus I have an extra 250 left from the scholarship check. But besides that, I would say I live paycheck to paycheck really. Though with a new roomie, that cuts bills and rent even more. The scholarship just allows me to have fun a little. and the money saved by having a roomie allows me to have a little extra cash. So hopefully she can see that I am trying to be smart and counter the plane ticket. Three months of having a roomie has allowed me to save way more than the ticket already, with the money she contributes. I just have a feeling she will kill me and maybe she would have wanted me to use it more wisely? She was so mad when I got my ticket to France this past June (for December 2006). I got it for $415 and my outbound was the day after x-mas. She did calm down within a day, but imagine how mad she will get over 750 and 4 weeks of no work. I don't know how to break it to her. I am sure she will get mad. But I love this girl and need to see her! I dunno, she is a pisces sun, cancer moon, taurus asc I believe. IP: Logged |

Agreed! Who are you doing the whole bit for? Mom? I'm sure she'll love you, even as she is picking your brain I imagine she wants to know that you have happiness overall anyway,... which may be why she does not pick for long. Hope all goes well for you.. have a safe trip,... loaded with the greatest fun! ~ geminstone IP: Logged |

I just read somewhere.... use money for builing memories not for material things. Sounds like you are going to make memories so how can that be wrong? IP: Logged |

Also, having a positive outlook on the universe providing money when you need it, will bring it to you! I live by this law! It works! Have a great time!IP: Logged |

haha wow, she was not that mad after all!I remember how it went: she called and asked how I was and if I got my package. She asked about the snow (New england) and said one of her friends had to cancel a trip to florida because of the snow. I said..speaking of flights *gulp* but she was pretty cool. "Uh yes, I can pay the school 500 dollars still (gulp). I will find a way...

As a Mom, I have the bad habit of always envisioning a worse case scenario- like: "Spent the scholarship money on a ticket? OMG! My child will be forced to beg, forced into starvation, have no money for shoes- catch a cold and die!- have to give up school- sell drugs- blahblah!" Moms also conveniently forget their own youth and expect their children to have the mental set of a stodgy ultra-conservative banker who survived the depression or something. Also we do not want to later have to sacrifice our $ AGAIN because you spent yours doing what you wanted instead of what we think you should have! THEN we want to "remind" you of this again and again! Good luck, have patience with yr Momsie, Lovingly, Tuxedo Meow IP: Logged |
