Hi guys

I have a TELEPHONIC INTERVIEW on Monday for a job. I was wondering if anyone has some tips for this type of interview? I have never had one like this before and would really like some tips on how I should conduct myself on the phone? I would like this job. Thanks in advance...

Good for you

Well first you must remember that your facial expressions will not go across those phonelines. This being said, it's important to chose your words more precisely. It's easy to come across overly excited and cheesy if you are not to careful. I would suggest highly that you place a full length mirror at or near your phone for this interview purpose. Be sure to remain seated and face the mirror (at least at an angle of sorts) This will show you and keep you aware of your interview behavior at all times. This also helps remind you to remain professional as if you were actually face to face.
Be sure to end the call with a phrase like "I really look forward to meeting with you in person"

Do not pace at all (your breathing will be much more apparent) so remain seated no matter what.

You will do a fabulous job at representing yourself I'm sure!

You can practice in advance by listing various loop questions that may be asked during the interview then responding aloud to these as suave as possible.
Even if your questions are way off base it will help you loosen up and relax for the "real deal"

Examples:
+What can you personally bring to this company?
+Why are you interested in working here?
+What did you like the least about your last job?
+Tell me about the most difficult boss you ever had and how you handled tense and stressful situations with him/her.
+What qualities do you see in yourself that will help you advance with our company?
+If I asked your previous boss and or co-workers what you had the most difficulty with what would they tell me?
+Do you have reliable transportation, childcare, etc. as well as a back up plan should the need arise?
+How many times have you been ill over the last 12 months?
+How many days did you miss from work during this time?
+How much if any notice did you give your employer regarding those absences?
+Tell me about your most challenging experience with a customer?
+What type of resolution was made?
+If you saw a coworker stealing small items or not being so honest regarding time keeping how would you deal with this?
-Would you Look the other way?
-Speak to them discretely about it?
-Go directly to your immediate supervisor?
-Go the the main boss over your supervisor?
+Are you willing to travel?
How much notice would you need to do this?
+What office and or business equipment are you comfortably able to use?
+Are you willing to take a 3 day course on safety in the work place?
+We require an extensive course on sexual harassment which includes a strenuous test in which you must score 80% or above prior to permanent employment with our company. Have you ever done something like this before?
+We do hair folicle drug testing within our company both pre employment and randomly throughout our company during employment. What this means is that I will call you during your shift and you will immediately be required to drive to our designated testing center and submit to a 1/2 square inch sample cut from your hair on your head by the lab technician. Failure to do so will mean immediate termination. Are you supportive of this policy?
+We have nearly 30 qualified applicants for just this one position... Can you tell me something that you can bring to the table that makes you stand out above the rest?
+What kind of circular activities do you do?
+Are you a member of any local clubs?
Will you be needing to schedule regular days off because of these activities or other life commitments?

Sendin' love your way,
"your friend in spirit"

YFIS,

You are so wonderful...always freely giving of your time with your indepth info.

Fiery,

I've had lots of phone interviews. One of the best things I did was read the job descriptions that they posted (online or wherever you found the job). I also looked on the company website and looked at the position I was interviewing for.

Once I thought I had a really good idea of what they were looking for, I came up with possible questions they might ask, and wrote down answers and experience that I'd had that would be relevant to the position...even if it was a stretch. That way, I could say that I had experience in that area in another capacity instead of being caught on the spot and have to say I didn't.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

Booo...
They suck

I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm guessing there's something different in store for you... Hmm?

What kind of work do you or have you done?
Perhaps I could keep my eyes open for you.

If you're not comfortable answering these questions of a personal nature I completely understand too...

But, you are welcome to email me as well...
Perhaps with another set of eyes something amazing will fall in your lap

when i gave a telephonic interview for my call centre job i was adviced to stand up and talk and not while sitting down. this reduces nervouseness, lets voice come out properly and u sound condifent. besides there is an attitude change too. u feel u control and since ur belly is not under pressure as when ur sitting down, u can take deep breaths.

also, hold the receiver in ur right hand if ur a right hander or the other way round. plus see to it ur alone while giving the interview. pee just two minuted before ur about to give ther interview and also then have some water taking small sips.

rehearsel is very important.

if u decide to sit down and give the intervire then sit straight. do not slouch. i hav talked a lot on phone with customers. so this comes from someone with phonetic experience.

all the best!
