HA!

Basically someone surveyed a bunch of divorced British people and found that men are more likely to gain financially from divorces than women (even though popular perception is that WOMEN ARE TAKING ALL THE MONEY).

Just thought I'd post this here.

I thought it was men recovered more quickly from the financial loss of divorce?

My exes are quite well off.
I was too scared to fight them.
I think maybe many women are afraid....
such men do often have friends who would seriously hurt or worse,
the woman who was divorcing their good buddy.
So the woman walks away with nothing (and in my cases, literally nothing, including most material things) for her own safety.
The attorneys could not guarantee my safety...
restraining orders were worthless...
I was stalked and threatened...with death even, but no one could or would help.
So when the attorneys tried to get me to go for my fair share and alimony, I said no....
it was far too dangerous.
So there they are with incomes of $100,000 or so a year whilst I straddle the rail of poverty.

Just enjoy yourselves whilst you can, boys.

quote:
About one in three men over the age of 50 have some cancer cells within their prostate and nearly all men over the age of 80 have a small area of prostate cancer. Most of these cancers grow extremely slowly and so, particularly in elderly men, will never cause any problems.

Personally, I would trust Cancerbackup on this subject area far sooner than I would trust the BBC on reportage of scientific studies.

Most likely all be working long hours making money, then getting married.

Even if I don't have to I was burned out last semister got up at 6am, worked from 7-12am then school till 10pm, Then sleep.

Last summer I was working seven days a week with two jobs, the money was good thought.

Made sense one job made me money to save the other to eat out everyday.

I think all end up concentrating on work then getting married.

We've all been there... l had all of the above and much more for over 3 years after l left my husband but l didn't walk away with nothing; l stood up to the b4st4rd. I didn't fight him, l just stood and told him that l would not be turning around and walking away from what was mine.

I was much more frightened of others things anyway to let a stupid violent man bother me. Actually, if you stand up to them it throws them cos they are insecure and no longer have power over you

Lara I agree.

I know that now in hindsight.
I was so beaten down by the first..I became a total doormat and almost did not leave him.
I was disabled by time I left the second and after his brother threatened me and I saw him (the sadistic brother)torture animals to death, first skinning them alive and then slowly eviscerating them...laughing with glee.....
Then threatening me, who was too often bed bound at the time from bouts of partial paralysis.....I was terrified he would break in while I was most vulnerable and do me like he had the animals.
Additionally they threatened my child too. I could not take a chance that they would not carry through with the threats.
Then when he and ex#2 and a known criminal friend vandalized my mobile home, left water pipes spraying all over, and cut and left live electrical wires dangling, and stole all my appliances and trashed the place.........while I was at the doctors.....
and the cops did absolutely nothing...
and the abused women shelters said they could not take in a disabled woman with a child.....
Well...
I had no real options.

Sorry you went through such hell too.
I wish I'd had your nerve to stand up to them.
PS.

quote:
We've all been there... l had all of the above and much more for over 3 years after l left my husband
Both exes, especially #1 continued to harass me for several years. Ex#1 was still harassing me 2 years ago.
I finally told them to both back the F off.
Amazingly they both finally did back off.

yup Lexx xxxx hugs to ya.

I was almost braindead when the tsunami in asia woke me up to my life!

I found the courage and never looked back. I would stand in my ex's face whilst he screamed at and threatened me and l wouldn't move a muscle. I would just stare him in the eyes and then say "get out".

he was so disarmed he would push me and then leave.
It never pays to let them take your power but sadly we have to figure this out for ourselves babe x

Lara Big Hugs!
I applaud your courage!
Still, it must have been a bit scary?

Were you there? Or was it a kind of wake up call only?
I dreamed of it and woke up screaming.
It was not until later I found out it had really happened!
Truly makes one appreciate life even more!

It was a wake up call,... hit me like a brick. I thought "why am l doing this when all these people died and l now have to live the best life for them" in their honour.

4 days later l told my husband. 3 days later he moved out.

amazing that you dreamt of it! scary though...

personally if divorce makes men richer, who cares?! you wanna be rich or you wanna be free?!?!

Free of the jerks for sure!

Yes, dreaming about the tsunami as it was happening was terrifying! I woke screaming, and choking and could not breathe and was in a cold literally dripping sweat, and hysterically was telling my husband what I was seeing as it happened! Then to find out later that it was true....
