I've asked something like this b/f, but I'm going to rephrase it:

If a child were born on, say, Mars, what do you think the effect of Earth in its natal chart would be?
What's the essence of the energy of this planet?

Any thoughts?

very good point..

or for that matter another solar system (polaris, antares, epsilon pegasi?) - sorry if it sounds a little "out there" but im a scifi nut so im interested in the idea - specially since i now use a kind of fabricated natal chart to design my characters, hehe.

Yeah - I tried to ask a more extensive question like that a while back ("If a child was born a spacecraft..., etc.), but I didn't get any responses.
Re: the effect of Earth, I think someone said something like, "Well, that's your Asc..."
I can't remember if I replied and said that that's not what I meant, but eh.

If no one else responds to this one, too, I guess that we two can just rest assured that we're freaks
(a good thing in its own way).

But this was also kinda brought up b/c you figure all inhabitants of a particular planet would be somewhat inprinted w/ that's planet's energies (if you want to think about planets themselves having energies...but this is LL, so I'll give that concept the benefit of the doubt) - I thought it'd also be useful to bat around the idea to better know ourselves (my lil' bit o' practicality said).

Hmmm, Well, I think one way to look at it would be that the nergies/sources/mythologies

WAIT!! HAH!
Okay, Ever hear 'The Power Is In The Naming' ? Y'know writing things down, or repeating them to the mirror twice a day, or meditating on a mantra, gives whatever you are writing/repeating/meditating on power, and powers it into existence (sort of).

Well, Humans Named the planets around them. Now, its chicken and the egg whether the energies were there first, or if the energies followed being assigned a placement. What all parties here (we can assume) agree is that the energies do currently exist, and therefore exist whether we are on earth in this current moment (I mean the moment relativistically but can't currently remember how to state it, obviously this moment would have passedaalready for mars, but will not hav ereached pluto, though by the time I am done writing . . . ).
Now, our second assumption is that if there were people or similarly sentient creatures on mars the energies we have named would apply to them as well, which is a little bit egocentric (IMHO, but then I've been reading too much Heinlein ).
One could postulate that each planet/sign has filled a niche and that the aliens would have the same niche's and needs and therefore refine to the same nine meanings and passing them in any order they liked/thought practical would give them out the same, Earth taking the place of Mars within their astrology, or perhaps flipped with Venus which I like to think would be more likely (for no definable reason).

Or one could postulate that each planet might take on entirely different interpretations. Without knowing the culture and evolution on mars we couldn't possibly begin to understand what those would be, nevermind guessing what earth would represent when I for one can't even imagine how it appears on mars from here.

I don't think this answeres either of your questions but I think its interesting so it'll stay heh.

More directly answered is your question below (as Yoda would say)

I think that if an earth child was born on mars either they would set the chart using earth times and perhaps making some sort of adjustment for the different placement. Or else another house system would be invented.

Possibly Earth would be regarded much the way we currently regard the moon. As a metaphorical mother which birthed humans into the solar system (?), an unreachable home ?

In another solar system I think the only way to do it would be to mathmatically adjust the figures to give a placement equivalent to where the child would hav ebeen born if born on earth. Perhaps the earths position would be substituted for the moons.

Modern astrology is based on at least three thousand years of research, and still how to practice it is under debate, i don't see another system being readily invented for birth on a space ship, or another planet within or without the galaxy.

I think Earth is Taurus' true ruler, instead of sharing Venus with Libra. So, earth would be just that, an earthy energy, grounded, bountiful, feminine..for starters. Putting up with a Lot, before she Blows! Maybe others can add more.
