Over at Astral Realms we wondered what made Freud so sex-fixated... He was born May 6th 1856 at 6.30 pm in Freiberg, Germany. He has a funnel chart, retro Mars in Libra on the cusp of the 12th house being all alone on the east side (that could explain it, I guess...). His Moon and Saturn are both in the 8th house. Any inputs?

Hi Stella Thanks for posting Freuds birth date. I'm currently studying psychotherapy - but Humanistic/Gestalt - Carl Rogers. Freud is considered to be "The Papa" as far as psychology goes - and yes he totally believed that we are all sexual/erotic beings. I haven't studied Freud but he's certainly an extremely interesting man. I'm trying to remember why he originally started to experiment with cocaine - but my brain's currently sleeping Can anyone else remind me? Sue IP: Logged |

Coke wasn't illegal in those days...For instance, it was given to soldiers to improve their fighting. Freud used it for indigestion, among other things, and he prescribed it to patients for almost anything, like a cold. I've only tried coke myself a few times, but it just gives you a high - it's not like heroin or pot or LSD - that acutally DO things to your way of thinking. Or what do you say? I'm looking at Carl Jung's chart, too. Interesting. He has Sun/Uranus conjuction in the 7th house, just like Freud. But opposite, in Leo. And Mars in 11th. IP: Logged |

not to go off the topic of freud but cocaine definately DEFINATELY does things to your mind, tho not as part of the high, as part of the side effects. especially when done regularly. you become PARANOID in a frighening way, obsessive over weird things and you lose your good judgement over reality. in my experience it puts thoughts in your head that dont belong there, you get delusional. the effect on thinking from psychs are a little different- i have not experience with opiates, but unless you have life changing mind expanding trips or traumatizing experiences, or you take them too much, you go back to thinking the way you did before when not highANYWAYS- i dont know about astrologically, but in his time, the victorian era, sexuality was particularly under-expressed and accually quite repressed and disregarded. it would be much more accurate then that sexual themes would arise in symbols and dreams etc. than it would today, where we feel basically free to express your sexuality openly. geez, i cant imagine such a natural instinct to be looked down upon so greatly... and if you think about how much of a sexual explosion to the point of it being way over done our society is going through just from being repressed for so many years, its not surprising that freud paid so much attention to it. sex was like the missing link. tho, i've read he just had an imbalanced sex chakra, and that i believe too. maybe he just felt repressed many of his theories are right on when you remove the sex element of them... oh must go, i post later bye all IP: Logged |

hola his Moon and Saturn in 8th is quite intense on his sexuality - the Moon makes him overly sexual and emotional while Saturn there restricts that with the same intensity. As Freud himself said once - "Repress sexuality and you are in trouble" but I am going to check his chart after I come back from the movie tonight.IP: Logged |

Stella The Freud/Jung relationship was very interesting. I'll try to find the info I have on it. It got complicated as they were analysing each other and then it apparently came out that Freud was having sex with Jung's wife and Jung was having sex with one of Freuds patients.......It may have been the other way round - I'll have to check the article I read. Coke can certainly make you oversexual and very potent for a certain period of time. Afterward it does exactly the opposite- it makes you impotent, paranoid and reluctant to any close contact with another human being. The reason Freud was obsessed with sex is not only the coke, however.According to Alice Miller, there are strong indications that Freud was sexually abused by his father. This will explane the coke consume as well. Love and Light for all VeneraIP: Logged |

I found this small article. It's not the one I was thinking of but it does explain why Freud started experimenting with cocaine.....Cocaine Ambitions Freud thought that the then little-known drug cocaine might be of great use fighting morphine addiction and melancholy. Around the same time, an associate, Carl Koller, was experimenting successfully with the drug as a local anesthetic, especially for eye surgery. Freud envied the recognition Koller received, experimented with the drug himself and urged others to do so before realizing it could be addictive. Sue IP: Logged |

I haven't read much abt Freud. But i know a fact that can fit argument. Carlo are you listening? Freud said every son wants to bed his mother. Hmm interesting. But did you notice a baby boy gets a hard on while being breast feeded. Interesting. IP: Logged |

Carl Jung: July 26th 1874, 07.19 pm, Kesswill, SwitzerlandI couldn't find Carl Rogers. I had a friend who did some courses in gestalt theraphy and she was so enthusiastic about it. Can you use your knowledge of astrology there, Cat? One of the reasons the relationship between Jung and Freud went sour was that Freud refused to believe in astrology. Interestingly, on July 24th 1895, when Uranus was in exact opposition to his natal Sun/Uranus, Freud wrote to a friend: "There should been a monument erected that says today the power of dreams was revealed to Sigmund Freud." The wife of Jung is supposed to have been very unusual for that period, very liberate, so maybe she slept with Freud... Venera and trippy, thanks for sharing your knowledge about coke. Venera, interesting what you said about Freud and his father. Also Jung had a terrible relationship with his strict father. IP: Logged |

As odd as it sounds, many men that I have dated are similar to my biological father, and behave like him too. I know it sounds so weird- I noticed it looking back, OK? ------------------ Food is the only art that nourishes! IP: Logged |

Sorry, Carl Jung was born in 1875 (not 1874). Also, I see some sources say he was born at 7.32 (not 7.19). I have his chart in an astrology book, where it incredibly enough doesn't say when he was born, but on that chart his Sun is 3.20 Leo and Moon 15.40 Taurus.IP: Logged |
