Hey

I'm an intermediate/advanced astrologer and a software developer - a combination I'm putting to good use right now.

When I'm comparing two people's charts, I sometimes I miss an aspect or two (despite my Gemini love for details). And so, for that I'm making a small software (for Windows®) that will create a cool (and printable) comparison chart and calculate aspects and even give a general relationship-rating based on the general text-book stuff in astrology.

What I'm writing this for is I'm gonna give this software as freeware as soon as its done. I would like to make it as easy as possible for all you aspiring astrologers (or even pros who'd like a small tool). I want your suggestions on what you'd like in this software.

I'll be posting a list of features soon right here.

Thanks

PS. The software was inspired totally by Linda Goodman and it has been dedicated to her.

Here's a list of the features intended for for the first version (more to be added in later versions).

- Linda Goodman's Relationship Signs style comparison charts
- Planetary Aspect calculation
- Relationship "ratings" based on Aspects
- Notebook for Astrologer
- (Tentative) Shadow Planets' (Pan-Horus and Vulcan) calculations and included in charts
- Full Print and Save support
- "Relationship Analyzer" to create an overview of the relationship.
- More to be added soon.

Please note that this is a free software, intended for (before everyone else) all the learning and pro astrologers who hang out at this site. So feel free to suggest any features you would like to see in this software.

Just a thought:

How modular will this software be?

It'd make it incredibly useful if you could add asteroids (Ceres, Pallas etc.) in, and possibly quite a bit more complete than many other solutions out there

Greetings...

N_wEvil (sorry just waking up, hoping I put the underscore in the right place) if you use those asteroids, which I don't but that's just me, there are many packages available for purchase that contain not only the asteroids that you mentioned, but also the Uranian hypothetical planets, over 1000 asteroids which is WAY too many for me to even conceive of putting into a chart, Chiron, a boatload of Arabian parts and other assorted stuff that I have no idea how to use.

Pegesus, Kepler, SolarFire, Janus are all examples of these packages. I have them all (except Pegesus as it's a smaller version of Kepler) and I tend to use mostly SolarFire... it has some great features for Classical/Horary astrologers, as does Janus... but Janus is not nearly as user friendly as SolarFire.

Kepler is a great system for both new AND advanced astrologers, and has some of the prettiest graphics for nativities that I have ever seen. It is also fairly easy to use, although not nearly as easy to use as it was in the OLD DOS version... that tell you how long I've been playing with astrology software?

Each package has its own advantages and disadvantages, but I enjoy them all in their own right. One does Classical better, one gives you more user defined options, one makes a prettier chart printout... it's all a matter of trial and error.

By the way the packages I mention are all for Windows.. I don't think there are that many astrology programs for Mac, but I never really investigated as I gon't have a Mac.

To the new programmer.. I'd say, see what's out there and then offer something DIFFERENT AND USER FRIENDLY... so many of these programs are good at churning out the charts, but you actually need to read the manual.. Heaven Forbid!

I'm sure I could give you a ton of suggestions if you're really interested.. I am a very opinionated astrologer! If I could program a computer, I know what I'd like to see.. but that doesn't mean that's what would float everyone else's boat!

I wish you luck and much success tho!

Peace and Light...

A, the opinionated astrologer!

Hello Fishy...

No, I haven't tried Jigsaw, it sounds like an interesting program, but I do my own rectification methods and research...

Let me know what you think though!

Peace and Light...

A

Hi Guys,

Sorry for not replying earlier.

Yes, I've tried many astro software too. But my intention for THIS software is that it should have what PEOPLE want - not what the DEVELOPER of the app wants!

And its supposed to be a self-help tool along with a "journal" module too.

I'd love to hear suggestions from all of you!! Just mail them to dax@nukeation.com

Aselzion, yes, I really want to make it User friendly. Since you seem to have so much experience in this kinda stuff, how about being my official "advisor" for this project? Anyone else interested are more than welcome. Just e-mail me.

Thanks everybody for the great feedback.

- Dax

PS. Yes, I'm thinking of adding a "custom" mode in which you can add anything you want from asteroids to galaxies : :

Greetings Dax...

Well, as I say I'm not a computer programmer, but I am an Astrologer and I do know what I'd like to see in software... so if you're willing to listen to my opinions, I'd be happy to work with you.

Please keep me updated and let me know when there's a working version for me to scope out!

Peace and Light...

Aselzion
