Hello,

Can anyone tell me how to read the 9th division chart - Navamsha in vedic astrology? I mean, does the first house of Navamsha represent the native or the spouse? And what abt the 7th house?

The Navamsa chart is used in conjunction with the birth chart. It is interpreted according to the same rules as the birth chart. I don't know the vedic houses, but if 1st house is self, then this is also true in the navamsa. If 7th house is the partner, is also true in the navamsa.

Hope this helps.

Hi Woodland,

Thanks for replying.
So if first house is the self in navamsa, then does that signfy what the native will be like when they are married?

You know, I started to study vedic astrology, but the differences between western astro and vedic were so great, that I gave up, not wanting to have to learn so much new stuff. So I don't know how much help I can be, but I looked at my own navamsa chart. And Capricorn is rising, with sun/venus..also Saturn. This would put Cancer on the 7th.

My husband and I both have this axis in our charts. I have Capricorn on my marriage house(western 7th). I have Cancer rising. I have a strong venus and saturn. My husband has Cancer/Capricorn on the 10th/4th. He also has a prominent venus.

Maybe it's best to look at the navamsa in a general way..looking at the 1st and 7th houses and the sign of the moon, to give you a general idea. Let me know what happens.

Yeah i think you are right abt looking at both the 1st and 7th houses of navamsa for the spouse. I looked at 2 navamsa charts of married couples, and in one the 7th house gave a good description of the spouse and in the other, the 1st house.
But now i wonder who the other houses in the navamsa correlate to - the spouse or the native?? Like for instance, does the 10th house in navamsa represent the career of spouse or the career of the native? Woodland, who does ur 10th house of navamsa represent?
