I just had a general question about what everyone thot about the big bang theory.I know this doesn't have much to do with astrology but when i was reading thru some threads i noticed a general "the big bang theory is a load of bull" kind of feeling. I just wanted to ask what the reasons against this theory are and what other alternatives people believe in. i'd love to hear what you all think IP: Logged |

I for one have no problem with the Big Bang theory. I don't see ant astrology reasons to disgard it. Lanny IP: Logged |

Maybe I've been living under a rock for most of my life (.. more likely in my Neptunian world in my head), but what is the Big Bang theory?Heidi IP: Logged |

It's where the Uni-verse began as an explosion and thus began to expand.I have no problem with it; however, I find it quite interesting that some stars are older than the Uni-verse itself. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." hmmmmmmm ... I can grasp the concept of the universe but once I start to think beyond that, specifically what's beyond the uni-verse and how it came about, my brain starts hurting. "ouch" Heidi IP: Logged |

There's no problem on this end with the Big Bang theory; it doesn't seem to conflict with the idea of a Universe, a Multiverse, dimensions ad nauseum, or anything (up to and including String Theory, right?).And now, I shall use a random smiley that I've really wanted to see, but have not as of yet had the chance to pop up: Peace OK, OK, just one more: IP: Logged |

Just one of those "anomalies" astronomers can't explain. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

Yeah I get that it's an "anomalie" it certainly sounds like one, but i've never heard of such a thing. where did you here about it? any links on it? cos it sounds like fiction to me- i dont see how it would be true.hey hrj777, i know what you mean. cosmology gives me a total headache sometimes- trying to visualise the fourth dimension makes my brain hurt. but how on earth have you not heard of the big bang theory? it's a theory thats more famous than evolution. the basic idea is that there was a point about 15million years ago when the entire everything consisted of a single very small but very dense point. this thing got very hot and expanded rapidly creating all the atoms and stuff we have today. you cant think of the big bang as explosion in space, it was an explosion OF space. nothing existed before it: no matter and no time. time is related to gravity and gravity cant exist without mass so if there was no mass then there was no time. am i making sense? no one seems to have a problem with this theory on this site but im sure i read that stuff somewhere so i'll have a look again. related question: do you guys think religion agrees with this theory? apart from creationism obviously? and does astrology say anything about how the universe was created? Hi Ash,Ummmmmm ... guess I wasn't paying attention in school or it could just be that I read so much, I am like Kelly Bundy ... if you know who she is ... she could only keep a number of facts in her head and when she learned a new one, she forgot something else because her brain only had the capacity for a certain amount of information. Hehe ... It could also just be I am getting old and forgetful. yes, I would be interested to know where religion stands on this theory too. Anyone? Love and Light, Heidi IP: Logged |

Read about it in Discovery magazine. Should be easy to find info on it. ------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |
