When there are no planets in a house, look at the house ruler(on a chart, it is the sign outside the pie shapes near the dividing lines. First house is at 9:00) For instance Sag rules my 5th house -- I definitely like to travel and since childhood I have been extremely intrigued about foreign countries and culture.

Here is an article by John Hammelton on
Empty House Meanings. Thought that it might be of help.

Lanny

Of the major factors that astrologers use in delineating a chart or horoscope, all the planets, plus sun and moon, come to a total of ten (not counting part of fortune, nodes, etc.) The horoscope is composed of twelve houses that describe the mundane affairs of the individual as experienced in life. In all cases, there are two houses that will be empty; and in most cases many more. In some charts, the planets are bunched so closely together that it is not unusual for eight, nine, or even ten houses to be empty of their direct influence. This does not mean that empty houses are ignored in a good reading. On the contrary, the sign on the cusp, or leading edge of the empty house, along with its ruling planet, allow an inference to be made in regard to that area of life. Many basic text books of astrology do not include readings on empty houses. In most cases, it is necessary to hunt down a text specifically written to cover this area.

I have written interpretations for all twelve houses for each of the twelve astrological signs on the cusp of every house. All you need is your horoscope, or a knowledge of which sign is on the cusp of what house. The interpretation or reading is here for your use and help in understanding your own horoscope.

The First House is the window through which you see the world, but also the window through which the world sees you. Your physical appearance and presentation is how others perceive your outward manifestation; and first impressions come through the Rising Sign, or Ascendant, which is the cusp of the first house. Represents head and face.

The Second House deals with a person's finances, or the area in life that pertains to assets and personal worth in terms of worldly goods; shows gain or loss according to conditions affecting this house. Denotes ears and throat.

The Third House has to to with short journeys; correspondence, communications, reading, studying, mental abilities and inclinations. Rules the nervous system, lungs, arms and hands.

The Fourth House centers about the home and living environment; shows conditions at end of life. Has to do with land, mines, property; father, and rules the breast, organs of digestion, and stomach.

The Fifth House is involved with social affairs, children, speculation, romance, and the ligher side of the emotions. Pertains to the heart, upper back, and sides.

The Sixth House denotes work, service, health, pets, servants, hygiene, and clothing. Relates to the bowels, and solar plexus.

The Seventh house has to do with marriage, partnership, contracts, lawsuits, and relations with the public. The sign has rule over the lumbar region, kidneys, renal glands, and urinary system.

The Eighth House deals with wills, legacies, inheritances, death, astral experiences, and all things connected with the dead. Has to do with the sex organs, muscular system, and bladder.

The Ninth House is associated with foreign lands, long journeys, the higher mind, education, ideals, values, religion, and philosophy. Its domain includes the thighs, and liver.

The Tenth House is linked to an individual's occupation, or profession; also fame, promotion, honor, government, and the mother. Has rulership over the knees.

The Eleventh House is associated with friends, companions, hopes and wishes. Pertains to the ankles.

The Twelfth House has to do with secrets. seclusion, isolation, enemies, unseen trouble, limitation, exile, prisons, monastaries, hospitals, and the occult side of life. Rules the feet.

Why can't I find a good, meaty description of Neptune in the 12th house? Or, Jupiter in the 9th house, for that matter? They usually just say something vague, like "Neptune is quite at home here, as this is it's natural home" Well, I KNOW that. But gimme more! (I have these two placements, obviously)

Sorry, don't mean to derail the thread. Just didn't think it was worth starting a new thread over.

Lioneye I have Neptune in the 12th in Scorp and I see what they mean by secrets. Everyone I know tells me their deepest darkest secrets and it's a problem for me. Plus I think I have more of a addictive nature than others, and I have worked with people with addictions in hospitals. I do not work with individuals as well as institutions and hospitals simply because it's easier and there is more money in selling to the government. I think institutions also includes the government.

Neptune in the 12th is a natural politician and gets along with a wide variety of people. I believe in people too much and get my hopes up, I believe too much in the happy side of life and refuse to see the negative sometimes. I am not as good with money as I would like but I am good with real estate and working with old homes. Illusions are big with me, I lived with an independent filmaker for a long time and I can become immersed in film, drawings, illustrations, storyboarding, the whole distortion of reality and building of persona is very Piscean.

I can change my looks in a thousand ways and I have very different ways of dressing. I know quite a few arty types who are truly talented and relate to Michaelangelo on a spiritual level another Pisces. I have a lot of Pisces friends.

I also give to charities, work for charities and take in stray cats. and yes I do like a drink once in a again but it hits me hard.

Pisces rules film so you would like to go to film openings, and old vintage glamour may interest you. I love vintage clothes and films and sometimes sew what I sew on the screen. My talents include make-up and costumes. I like to collect photos of old drapery treatments and moldings from the last century in the older cities and try to copy these with plaster and velvet at home, my home is sometimes fantastical. I recently photographed the velvet drapes in a castle in Ireland and I am recreating them.

Dreams are vivid and I get entire paintings and stories out of them, but I am too easily influenced by culture, others and try not to get distracted by physical beauty. I am a sucker for glamour or sexy people and clothes, and will spend my last dollar on lilac lingerie.

I also know a lot of gay men because there isn't anyone else who appreciates vintage like I do, and I can't expect any man around here to care. Not that I'm complaining but if it was up to the Libra to decorate it would look like Black and White with a little red thrown in, maybe some cheap prints and some throw rugs.

He's lucky I found him. I think he lured me with promises of redecorating his apartment and the wise man let me have free reign. He know a good thing when he saw it and took full advantage. There is no way I would even let him have a say in any decorating decision now, that's all my department. I try to keep it contained for him and use only bright light colours instead of colours like purple and burgundy.

Hi everyone!
This is actually my first post (YAY!)

I find that I am attracted to Leos, Geminis and Aries exclusively. Even a guy that seems the slightest bit interesting, that I might meet when I am out, turns out to be one of those 3 signs. Capricorns tend to stalk me. Scorpio and Taurus guys hate me. Virgo guys don’t like my behavior. I haven’t encountered too many Libra guys or Sagittarius guys that are single.

I’m a Leo with an Aquarius Rising.(born July 30, 1979 @ 7:55 pm in San Francisco, CA).I actually have a 7th house stellium. The stellium includes : The Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn (although it is in Virgo - it is in my 7th house), North Node, Lilith and Venus is on the cusp of my 6th and 7th house... I also have eros and pallas in the first house...
How's that for relationship confusion??? Can anyone help me understand these aspects?

Sthenri~
Oddly enough, when I was reading your last post up there, I thought- yes! that is right. Sometimes, the feel of your posts to me seems patient, serene, and like very old lace. I know that doesn't make much sense, but it is more a 'visual feeling' than I can explain. You remind me of comfort- an antique store full to the crannies with valuable baubles, precious photos and treasures with that slightly antiqued scent....pleasant and dreamlike. I used to dream about a place like that. Endless rooms filled with the most beautiful and familiar items, all fascinating and unique. I find myself 'feeling' that dream sometimes, almost unconsciously, when reading your posts. I am pretty sure this doesn't make sense, but I will put it out there anyway. Wow! I am whacked!
