Is it me or do Leos seem to hate cats most of the time? Everyone I know (except for one Libra) who has professed a strong dislike for cats has been a Leo. Do you guys feel like you're in competition with the kitties?

Lol, that's funny. I have actually heard that the Leo Lions are supposed to have some sort of fondness for kitties though, and that Leos are actually likely to have cats as pets because of that link they feel with them, with cats being of the lion family and all, lol.

lol tuesday! cat is the most flexible hunter of all. though lioness is the most powerful but its surprising to know that the best hunter (on leg) is the cat! it doesnot have clear vision cause it sees blurd and has yet the ability to see infrared. it doesnot have a sharp nose and is under constant threat from dogs. the only powerful thing it has is ears but that too not more powerful that the dogs. yet it manages to hunt a jerry or a tweety! it is also the best jumper of them all. that's where the dogs loose. it also survivies on its own. yet the cat has survived all the negative human perception about them (selfish, lazy, etc...)
but the leo is nothing but sit, eat and rule. no wonder they dislike the true 'best hunter'. junglee instinct, eh!
as for thier fondness for kitties, they are those leos who are not as much dominating then others.

so let us therefore say in thy glory "do hell with the lion, the cat rules!"

i thought that leos were attracted to cats as animal friends too. hmm.

my leo sun and leo rising brother likes kitty pal. even though willard isn't immediately friendly, my brother just gives him attention anyway.

oh! (silly how the smallest things can get me so excited). i have taken photos of willard (cat) on one whole roll of film. i should have photos to post in the coming weeks.

Whatever gives you joy, Amy

Personally, I love cats, of all varieties. I've never been a big dog lover, mainly because I was attacked without provocation by one when I was 7 (perhaps because I AM a feline myself??)But, according to Nackie's stats, Leos are most likely to own a big dog. Go figure.

Hi Tuesday,

I think that most Leo's like cats, at least the ones that I have known really LOVE cats. My guy has 3 and my grandmother always had cats and dogs around.

In fact, until I met my Leo, I had never known a man to love animals as much as me. He has the three cats, 2 horses, 4 dogs and about 30 cows. LOL.....I have just to fat cats.

Now, I have noticed Capricorn men are not into animals - at least the ones I have talked to or I have known. The same kind of holds true for the Virgo men that I have known. Their distaste for animals stems from the hairballs and poop produced. My Ex-Virgo is taking care of my cats while I am away and I usually get a poop and hairball tally/report when I pick them up again. LOL

Concering signs and their love of pets, I thought you might find some of this interesting. Quoting from Debbi Kempton-Smith's book. To find how a person feels about animals, look at the sign on the cusp of the 6th house, that's more accurate than the sun sign, but the sun is still a secondary indicator. Her book is fun, her style irreverent.

I won't write the whole thing, that would take forever, but here goes:

ARIES- doesn't care for slobbering critters. They dont' like smelly creatures either. Aries animals are sheep and rams and any adoring thing that buoys their big egos. Some Aries fixate on strange objects and turn them into pets. One Aries gal took a cantelope with her to the pubs, it was her meloncholy baby.

TAURUS- good cuddlers and will always cuddle their pets. In many ways they are the best pet owners, sure to be set in their ways and provide stability. Perhaps Taurus is so devoted to pets because animals will return unbridled devotion where humans would if only Taureans weren't so boring. They like a nice normal conservative pet and will never let the thing go hungry. Dogs and cats, cows, and bulls, camels, two-toed things, sloths, bears, weasels and anything that stinks, like skunks, comes under the rulership of Taurus.

GEMINI- will never subject a pet to isolation on purpose, but sometimes need to be reminded because they always have so much on their minds. Apes, gorillas, hamsters, squirrels, even ants fascinate them. Insects come under the rulership of Gemini. Perhaps their favorite creatures are birds, creatures that elicit all their tender feelings best. Bright fidgety monkeys also come under Gemini, but a monkey would make most Geminis nervous as the two are too much alike.

CANCER- like furry things in need of protecting. Cats, bunny rabbits, and old faithful dogs tug at their heartstrings. If the creature slobbers, so much the better. Crabs, lobsters, oysters, hippos, walruses and armadillos appeal to them, and many Cancers relate well to tropical fish. They like to muck about in fish tanks, to ensure a nice home for their finny friends. Snails too. They can watch them inch along and feel content.

LEOS have a soft streak for any critter in distress, but given a choice they will choose a pet they can be proud of. It doesn't have to be the best breed, but a Leo has to feel that his et is special, with extraordinary qualities. They are good to their animals, playing weird games with their pets, squashing down the cat's ears and making him cruise through the air like a Bonzai flyer. They adore cats, all cats, lions, tigers, cheetahs, pumas and kitties.

VIRGOS prefer cats too, but this is due to their innate dislike of dirt and smells and to a rather cool attitude that wants the darned critter out of the way when there's work to do. They can be very happy with little turtles. They're fascinated by tiny things--other Virgo crawlies are porcupines, minks squirrels, mice, rats, hamsters rabbits and bats. Yes bats. Servile dogs work well with them. An ant farm is the closest thing to a Virgo's life-work work work!

LIBRA is another cold sign when it comes to living with animals. They admire creatures most in their natural habitat. Libras generally make their partners into their pets, and if the partner is doing his utmost to be a mature adult, Libra becomes the pet! Think I'm joking? Just try to remember how much fussing and errand running Libra requires. It is the only sign of the zodiac with a machine for a symbol. Tis true, their things are their pets. Usually a camera or a car.

SCORPIO-thinks hard before taking on the responsibility of a critter, but when they commit themselves they are the best of masters. Typical animals for Scorpios include arachnids, frogs, bees, anything poisonous or with a stinger, weasels, gorillas, and scorpions, natch. Once in every Scorpio's life they get a fish tank. The like to play God there, watching the cycle of birth, death, and gobbling up. They think snakes and tame fuzzy tarantulas are cute; or maybe they like to watch other people's reaction to them.

SAG-love their dogs and horses. They're not too good at correct feeding schedules, but they have hearts of gold for all beasts. This sign rules all large animals, one-toed things, whales, elephants, walruses, deer, hippos, giraffes. They go for quirky animals, like kangaroos. On Sag I knew had an otter who ate nothing but chicken necks. He used to roll around on the sofa and swim in the bathtub. The otter did too.

Perhaps CAPRICORN has the most complex relationship iwth his pets of all the signs. People have disappointed them so often that they develop deep, caring relationships with their animals. Remember Nixon and his "Checkers" speech? Even the dog was put to work. Capricorns love it when the dog fetches the paper, but nothing tops the feeling of understanding Capricorn's experience wehn, Capricorn in the midst of a 'black dog' depression, feels the sympathetic sniveling snout of his loyal bulldog on his kneecap. These stuffy lonely people delight in exotic beasts. Perhaps they identify with the strange savage beauty of their signs own cretures: iguanas, crocodiles, alligators, dinosaurs, lizards...and that most industrious of ambituous beasts, the beaver.

AQUARIUS doesn't like cats much. Cats are cold and don't need him, and that's Aquarius' game. He doesn't like it much when it's played on him. Give him at least a bright Siamese cat or a smart Labrador retriever. Aquarians love smart loyal dogs tht obey every command. They have no time for dumb bunnies. Bears are also Aquariun--they are big and clumsy and always experimenting. If there's a beast in pain, trust Aquarius to calm it--he has a 6th sense with critters. It's people he can't connect with.

Ah, PISCES, what a softie you are. Your house may not smell so nice, but at least the strays always have a place to stay. This sign will have a three-legged dog, a turtle kidnapped from a cruel owner, and always leaves a little milk on the back porch for the froggie. Pisces rules the fishes, worms, legless slithering things, bacteria, night creatures, whales, elephants, dolphins, seals, sharks, and dogs that look like Walter Mathau.

aagh ok, so its this way...just like a sag either loves or hates dogs and horses...the leo either loves or hates cats and big cats. but they say, inside they always want to be with those animals atleast once.
i'm a double ag, and with 2 dog bites from those stupid pomerians i keep away from dogs and horses and no cake for me either. but inside i always feel of having a good friendly dog and a spirited horse ride.
lol

I've always thought that Leos would feel that specal connection with cats too! I guess it's just the Leos in my area. I grew up with lots of kitties and feel a connection with felines even though I'm a Gemini. (I feel a connection with birds too).

I went to a Leo's house a few weeks ago. His mother invited a bunch of us for a little get-together. His little brother has the most *adorable* little white and orange Gemini kitty. I was cuddling him and smiling and just worshipping him in general and the Leo was standing behind me watching. Suddenly he announces "I hate cats!!" then makes jokes about cutting up cats and making cat soup and things like that. I was annoyed by this, and he tells me I "take everything too seriously." I said "I'm an animal lover" to which he replies "I'm not. The only animal I like is the American pitbull! (makes growling noises)"

>>To find how a person feels about animals, look at the sign on the cusp of the 6th house, that's more accurate than the sun sign, but the sun is still a secondary indicator. <<

You're right! I've always felt I act like a Pisces around animals, all mushy and adoring and sympathetic (I treat them like people), and sure enough, I have Pisces ruling my 6th.

6th house?! That's funny, Tuesday cuz I've read that it's the 12th house cusp that will determine pet preferences and attitudes toward pets. Well, it's along the same axis, so we must be on to something here.

I've also read that Venus placement can influence pet choices as well. *shrugs* Some things pop up in more than one jurisdiction, depending on what they mean to you I guess.

lioneye, I got all that from a book by Debbi Kempton-Smith, she's the one who says look to the 6th house cusp. It's a fun little book, written in a style somewhat reminiscent of Linda's, and it's called "Secrets from a Stargazer's Notebook." But my best friend and I just call it "the purple book."

I've noticed the exact opposite phenomenon as well. Leos and kitties go together like peas and ...um well that's what Mama always used to say...like a box of chocolates..

Well, this is one cat who loves kitties, of all shapes and sizes. (don't care for those wierd looking bald kitties, though)

I like dogs too, but I'm a little intimidated by them. I have to trust them before I'll be freindly with them. They can be dangerous!

Hmmm, I don't know that I would put too much stock in that 6th house thing at all.

Aquarius rules my 6th house and Virgo rules my dudes 6th house. I LOVE animals and have been working with them as a vet tech since I was 16. Ever since I was a child I brought home all the strays and injured animals. The two cats I have are from the last ER vet place I was a tech at in Portland and my mothers two pets are from the ER place in California. My friends used to make fun of me, and still do, as the pied piper of animals. Seriously, I can walk past an animal and they will start to follow me or go a little gaga. LOL....

My Leo is the same way. His Virgo mom has been the office manager of a vet hospital for over 30 years and she raises horses. He (as I indicated above) is an absolute animal lover.

I think there has to be way more to the 6th house than just the sign of the cusp. Maybe the planets inside of that house. Most of my 6th house is made up of Pisces, so that might have something to do with it.
