Hi,
I was just wondering what people think about chinese animals, according to which year you are born in. I'm a a pig born in 1983 and it says I am sociable, fun loving etc but does this relate to your astrology chart?

Hope you understand my thoughts!:-)

I know what you mean exactly because I was on the fence as to Chinese signs for a long time. Now I think I understand its essence a little better. Simplified for me, it's like when you were in high school. Remember how the Seniors were to the Juniors and all other combinations. It's that sort of ladder of energy created by progressive years.

Or the same as in the order of siblings, and on top of the order, how many years span between each.

I know I immediately feel an automatic bond when I meet someone born in my same year. It happens even more the older you get as you realize it's a great big world.

Maybe you find you've made more contacts with people in a certain timeframe as well. Think about who your know and find out where they land. Each generational year has something good and something bad to teach us.

Test it. Think of someone you had a falling out with and look at theirs and see if there are any familiar patterns from what you read.

That's my take...

I have a tough time with Roosters (The **** !)
They are born 1957 and 1969. They tend to be arrogant and bossy and dont' listen. Of course I'm a Rooster too so that doesn't help. I have had several big falling outs with Roosters that have affectd my life. Rooster years generally suck for me too, and mean a lot of personal growth, and very little money.

I have to mail a Christmas Card to Two Roosters this year. Female Roosters are described as castrating and sadistic, well I'm not that bad but Virgos are very discriminating and the Rooster corresponds to Virgo.

Roosters are very cocky all right...

Chinese astrology is very accurate and is not just about the year, there is an animal for the Day and the Month, and you add up your elements to see which you lack. I lack Water so I attract Watery places, the ocean, lakes, and I love dark colours. Water represents the Mother and I had a rocky road with mine.

I enjoy the Pig year people very much as they are nurturing and lovable, and it's a water element, corresponding with Scorpio.

To show what I mean,
I have the Month in Snake (Earth) the Day is Rabbit (Wood), and the year is the Earth Rooster.
I lack Water and Air.
My ex was born a Wood Rabbit Day too, and was born in an Earth Year (Earth Pig).
He was big on water and lacked fire, which I have plenty of.

I am attracted according to Chinese astrology to dark places, the colour black, northern climates and lots of water. I will work hard all my life out of choice, and my early years were very rocky compared to my later years which will be abundant. I am also wise, shrewd and ruthless when crossed due to my Rooster nature.

I have crossed several Roosters over the years and it makes you feel like you have run into the Mafia, they do have a way of holding grudges! My advice is to make up fast! They love to hold out on you too, I am trying to wrangle an address of a nice (Rabbit year Libra type) out of an Aquarian contrary Rooster and you can imagine, he is holding out for fun. I need to send the Libra a Christmas Card and it's becoming a drawn out event, as in remember the grudges I hold?

Pigs, and Rats (Sag) are very cool, I am also attracted to many Tigers for some reason. (Aqua), but they are very bossy and we get along better separated. Dogs (Libra) are great, Sheep (Cancer), and Horse (Gemini). This Jan 19th was the Black Water Horse (my nephew).

This is the year of the Water Sheep (Cancer)
Better than the Horse, I feel much more settled!

I have a Japanese friend who is also a Rooster, and she has her entire house filled with tiny decorative roosters. She went all out. http://www.chineseastrologyonline.com/Default.htm
I had a reading done by the owner of this website and he was scarily accurate.
If I meet a person who is born in a fire year or is a Dragon (aries), I know my life will change in a dramatic way, and I will make lots of money too. It's predictable.

actually I am the wood horse day and not wood rabbit. Oh well, and that contrary Aqua is actually a fire monkey (Leo) not a rooster. Since he is born in late Jan.

Here you can do some calculating here http://www.chineseastrologyonline.com/tlh.htm

Ohhhh Natasha...

I am a c0ck..rooster....LOL....I am not arrogant. I hate those descriptions. Like we are always preening and rushing around. Well, Okay, I am a spaz, I do like to look nice, but I am not always checking myself out the mirror. I know what my face looks like, why should I keep looking in a mirror?

LOL...I must admit though..before a meeting or before I have to talk to anyone, I do have to do a bit of a once over...more like a "boog" check. LOL...you know there is nothing worse than meeting with the CEO if you have a bat in the cave!

Well, does that sound like something a c0ck would say? No!!! LOL

I'm a Monkey Leo (wood I think). Fits me pretty well, actually. Specially the part about "prefers not to marry, dislikes not having options" LOL, well I WOULD marry the RIGHT person, if only they could find me. LOL.

*looking up Chinese Astro stuff...*

This actually seems a good site: http://www.chineseastrology.com/

To give examples (and not because I'm a shameless exhibitionist), here're examples of their readings, given both Jase and me:

ME:
You were born in a Year of the Metal Monkey!
Humor, Enthusiasm, Complexity

The youthful and clever Monkey is the eternal child of the Eastern zodiac. These highly diverse and bright souls are 'irrepressible.' Monkeys are quick, restless, enterprising, and sexual. Mischievous and high-spirited, Monkeys are social, active, convincing, and are gifted with a hilarious sense of humor. Imagination, ingenuity, and resourcefulness characterize those born into a year of the multifaceted Monkey. Versatile, curious and easily bored, impish Monkeys are witty companions, indulgent, intelligent, and always ready to play. This 9th sign of the zodiac is the most difficult to define due to their dual and sometimes contradictory nature. Monkey’s need mentally sharp partners who stimulate their cerebral resources. The best time of day for Monkeys are the hours they rule, between 3:00pm - 5:00pm.
The Metal element symbolizes clarity, purity and precision. The power of Metal is to delineate and define. Metal element persons create structure, create the surface of matters, and interface with the outside world. This element adds rigidity to an individual sign. Those born into the Metal element are guided by powerful feelings and will seek their goals with unwavering allegiance, chaste & tendency to speak candidly/bluntly. Much strength of will, and fluency of speech characterize those born into the Metal element. Metal is 'set' and determinedly fixed. Metal element persons must learn to compromise, not always insisting on their own way, as they will always have a strong effect on all whom they come into contact with. The Metal element shores-up an individual sign and is not deterred by calamity, hindrance or loss. The Metal element holds in position each individual sign by serving as a foundation and base. Metal element souls prefer to sort out and solve their own problems and do not appreciate interference or unsolicited advice. The Metal element imparts strong monetary instincts to the individual sign, with extra ability to save for a rainy day. The Metal element possesses a fine-tuned intuition regarding finances and speculative investments of all kinds. This is the element of the solitary entrepreneur. The physical organs of Metal are the lungs and the large intestines; its flavor is pungent. Metal's color is White and corresponds to the season of Autumn and dry.

JASE:
You were born in a Year of the Water Dog!
Loyalty, Watchfulness, Altruism

The Dogs are the watchful worriers of the Chinese zodiac, and the champions of the underdog. The Dog is famous for complete loyalty towards their friends and loved ones, but intense ferocity towards the enemies of their loved ones. Anxiety, loyalty and protectiveness characterize the magnanimous Dog personality. Devotion, generosity, and perseverance are the cornerstones of the wary Dogs temperament. This 11th sign of the Eastern zodiac is earnest, sincere and faithful to those whom they love, but being plagued by wariness, can have a sharp tongue, and a tendency to jump to conclusions. Cautious and serious regarding love, the Dog needs a trustworthy partner who has strong family sympathies, and appreciates their tenderhearted virtues. Low on ego, high on soapboxes, the Dogs' fair-minded humanitarianism and extreme caution is legendary. Best time of day for Dogs is between 7:00pm - 9:00pm.
The nature of the Water element is that of feelings and emotions. Reflection, sensitivity, and powers of persuasiveness characterize those born under the Water element. Water descends, seeks out, and fills low places; especially the hearts of the brokenhearted and needy. Those souls born under the element of Water are dominated by their feelings and need to communicate. The Water element endows one with a quick mind and lucidity. Water is chaotic at times and does not have its own form, but takes on the shape and character of the vessel. Water element persons advance their own ideas by influencing the vote of others. Those born under the influence of the Water element are empathetic with others, possessing a calm and sedate nature. The Water element has a gift for seeing things objectively and those influenced by it, are much sought after for their council. The Water element relates to the way others feel, Using intuition to keep a finger on the pulse of the world. Water element souls have a well developed ability for communicating with people and thrive in public relations or social work. Water's physical organs are the kidneys and bladder; it's flavor is salty. Water's color is blue and corresponds to the season of Winter and cold.

HI Pidua, I am a rooster too so I am not knocking it, once you get used to your nature everything is okay. That's the way I matured. I did read a lot of negative stuff about female roosters but the male roosters are not described that way. I can't help feeling that it was a little sexist just because we preen does not mean we are unusually vain.

Maybe the website owner just didn't like rooster women, I don't know.
I will find the link and you can be amused by their description. It did take some time to get used to my rooster/virgo nature but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world now. There is a lot of inaccurate information out there for Chinese astrology, the same as in Western and the rooster is misunderstood by astrologers.

I have found that www.chineseastrologyonline.com is the best and I take everything else I read with a grain of salt.

Yes I give myself a once over too and feel awful if I go out without my hair combed, it's just natural to want to look your best without being over the top. It takes more work to look classic, I can't stand sloppy and there is not reason to feel uncomfortable about it.

I am a Multi-Color Dragon by the year... and the perfect combination for me is a Rat (which is 4 years older), because "nobody could give more compliments to she-Dragon than a Rat, who is in love." And oh my! I could tell male Rats all my life... My husband is a Rat as well.

I found this system more generic but helpful for the quick analysis. Since it takes more than 365 days for planets to return to their original positions, Chinese Year definitions can give you an additional insight. When you talk to person, you don't know where his/her stars were on the day he/she was born, but by combining his/her Zodiac sign (which is a month) and Chinese Year (which is, of course, a year) you land a more precise portrait.

By the way, besides years, Chinese also identified the hours of the day with the animals. So, when you do not fit exactly your year description, probably you were born in the hours, which are in the sharp contrast to your year sign.

No, Monkeys usually don't like to show off! They will entertain for other people's sake but prefer not to be in the spotlight.

My little Monkey son is hilarious but sometimes gets mad when he gets too much attention.
