Or try baby orajel....or some kind of numbing cream. But like anything, the more you do it, the less painful it is... you get used to it. I don't even know what the big deal is now, but I do remember my first brazillian bikini wax. YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEOOOOWWWZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!IP: Logged |

HEE HEE!!! Yup, that's the torture I put myself through (when I have a "reason" to do it)... I wax it all. But I do it to myself. It actually does hurt less the more you do. I'm SURE we've lost all the guys now... .gloria ------------------ it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness... IP: Logged |

C'mon, tell! Actually, his isn't a "real" unibrow, but he has quite a few eyebrow hairs over the bridge of his nose...I just call it a unibrow. I don't think I could ever be together with someone with a REAL one! lol Please, tell us lol...it must be something awful! Why doesn't it work when I put up an image grrrrr. I have the link encased in and it still doesn't work. No spaces, it's a working link.... Nackie IP: Logged |

I have a question-does anyone use threading? I have a Scorpio friend who swears by it. Does one method produce results that last longer?Yes, pixelpixie, those Brazilians DO smart. I try to take asprin about an hour beforehand. IP: Logged |

I'm just guessing here, but I am supposing that you are hinting that a unibrow is a genetic throwback to the Neanderthal people. Am I right? ------------------ What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness? -- Jean-Jacques Rousseau IP: Logged |

Threading is an ancient technique that involves alot of skill. But it is similar to tweezing in that it pulls the hair quickly from the root. The technician holds the thread taut and loops it in such a way to facillitate hair removal at a quick rate. It doesn't burn or pull the skin, and so It is excellent for small areas and for people sensitive to wax.IP: Logged |

Thanks for the advice for how to lessen the pain Astro Junkie and Pixelpixie, but I have absolutely no desire to pluck any hairs from my body. Fortunately, I don't have much hair anywhere but my head, and what I do have is blonde, so it doesn't make a nuisance of itself. I can't imagine applying hot wax to sensitive areas of my skin, then yanking out the hair when it cools. I like myself just fine like I am, hair and all. I have also developed laugh lines and some strands of gray, which seem to come and go on some schedule known only to themselves. I don't mind those either. I can't concieve of any circumstance that would cause me to inject Botox into my face. I thouroughly enjoyed every minute of laughter that created those lines and I wouldn't want to get rid of the ways it effected my features. I am, however, willing to eat a piece of cheesecake with a friend and make some more lines for the future.IP: Logged |

At least we'll get the guys back on board! Playful: You have been genetically blessed. Mine is beautiful too, once I've uncovered it... .gloria ------------------ it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness... IP: Logged |

My Virgo son (whos 6) has gorgeous eyebrows, but for some reason he WANTS a unibrow LOL. He keeps getting into my makeup, so he can fill in between his brows with my eyebrow pencil. He does a very nice job too I might add. Very natural looking.IP: Logged |

Hi Oxychic,I have started using threading last year and I have to tell you it is great!!! I have tried different methods for shaping my eyebrows and I absolutely LOVE threading. The only problem I don’t like driving and the hair salon, which normally go to is about 45 mines drive. Now there is another hair salon closer to me, which also offers that type of service, I am a little scare to try someone new; I might try it this week. One thing I can tell you I will most likely stay with threading for a longtime. Before doing threading just get a reference from someone but everyone should give it a try. Muse IP: Logged |

Astro Junkie, That is so funny. I have always had great eyebrows. I don't pluck much as my shape and arch are pretty natural. I do add a bit of dark brown shadow with a brush to just "floof them up a bit". LOL..if that makes sense. (I'm a Sag). I am not sure that that grow up towards the nose. I do get a lot of compliments on them though. Oh and as for the lower waxed regions. Well, luckily I have hardly any hair...being American Indian, but I am quite weird about the nether regions. A nice little landing strip is all I have....very little. (BLUSHING...and Mr. Leo loves it...and wants to help me maintain it...geez. hee hee)
I don't have the ingrown hair or sensitivity issues down there. Also, growing up in Orange Co, cali and going to the beach was pretty instrumental in shaving from ankle to bikini region. IP: Logged |
