Okay all, this is too weird. I am going to a convention later this month and out of all the hotels listed, I selected the "Hotel San Carlos". I did it because it reminded of the San Carlos Apache tribe.

Well, I didn't read the history until today and I am facinated and freaked out.

Here is the info:

On this same site native Americans once worshipped a god of learning. Perhaps this is why Phoenix's first school, a one-room adobe structure, was built here for a handful of Indian children in 1874. By 1893 a brick schoolhouse with an expansion to sixteen rooms had replaced the adobe building. For almost a quarter century, the new schoolhouse served the children of Phoenix. Then, in 1927, it was condemned to make way for construction of the Hotel San Carlos.

At 2:30 a.m. May 7, 1928, just months after the opening of the Hotel San Carlos, a 22-year-old woman garbed in a fashionable evening gown jumped from the roof to her death in the street below. Miss Leone Jensen left a note, explaining that she was heart-broken from being spurned in love by a bellboy who worked in another hotel. Today her ghost has been seen in a white gown, and Barnes says the housekeeping staff will never go to the seventh floor except in twos and threes. The entire hotel staff talks of paintings on seventh floor walls that remain crooked no matter how often straightened, and clock radios, turned off, that come on again by themselves. A woman's figure, in the form of a white cloud, accompanied by unexplainable breezes, has often been reported.

There are also confirmed reports that the ghosts of young children have been heard running through the halls of the San Carlos.

"Four Indian children drowned in the well in the late 1800s," explains Barnes. The San Carlos water well, originally built for the schoolhouse in 1874 and still operating in the hotel's basement, is believed to be the center of the countercurrent. "But they're happy ghosts. They laugh and cackle and giggle. Cynthia, the head housekeeper, the engineering staff, and even nearby store tenants have heard them.

"There's definitely phenomenon here," adds Barnes. A normally practical Australian, Barnes relates how psychics and psychologists of the paranormal have visited the hotel and come away convinced of ghostly presences.

Oh this is too weird. I am kind of wondering how I will react when I get there. What if a ghostie tries to get me?

Oh, I hope they don't put me on the seventh floor.

Oh I need to add something that I remembered. About a week ago I dreamed about flooding in the streets, but the weird part was that at one point in my dream I stood across from a very old concrete structure that looked like a church - or an old schoolhouse (now that I think about it).

There was an old cowboy sitting on top of it. I felt the ground move because it was saturated with water. I screamed for the people to get out of the building, but it was too late, the ground swallowed it up into a type of underground pond. Then the ground opened up where I was, but I was able to pull myself out.

Oh my, what if this place is...like calling to me? Maybe I should ask Ra about it. Hmmmm, comments anyone?

LOL...jwhop..oh, if only I could. Hey, I will be stopping by Tortilla Flats too!! I am going hiking one day near Apache Lake and TF is on the way. I'll take some pictures and see if there are any new owners around LOL Hey jwhop, what should I do if a Dude Ghost tries to kiss me? LOL

Lioneye,

Oh, it sounds kind of creepy don't you think *eh*? I am excited but a little unnerved. I'll take pictures and see if any orbs make their presence known.

I just found this website that lists all the haunts in AZ: http://www.carpenoctem.tv/haunt/az/

Check it out, it's kind of cool - in a ghostie creepy kind of way.

Pidua, I think dreams of a natural disaster have to do with instability in your home life. Do you have to move or travel quite a bit this year?

Hi Natasha,

No, I don't have to travel too much this year, not like I did over the last 3 years. My home life is actually stable right now, nothing really weird going on with that front. It's just me and the cats (LOL..in party hats).

Now my career...well that is another realm altogether. I am tying up loose ends so that I can move on to another company - I am not sure which one, but I think things will work out. The problem is that the tension here is immense. This work place is like a train wreck and no one wants to admit that the train is off the tracks, let alone there are any casualties. I can't help but watch though - I keep reminding myself - there is a LESSON to be learned.

I just found out that not only is the new greasy CEO using this place as a jobs program for his cronies, but he has already filed bankruptcy 2 other times. WHY would we hire him to be in charge of our financial decisions? I think there is something going on behind the scene that is dark and ugly. My gut tells me there is deal between the old CEO (he is still the chairmen of the board and director of science) and the new CEO, who used to BE on the board. I am just gathering all my facts and documenting EVERYTHING because this is a publicly traded company.

What kills me is the hypocracy. This new CEO talks about the greed of the conservatives and corporate America, yet he is the epidemy of greed. He does not care about the little guy or what he has to do to get more money, he just fires them. After the last round, the jerk pulls up in a top of the line Lexus and then brags about his new $950,000 home. WOW, I just can't believe it. I would love to be able to help bring those pompous pimples down a few pegs. Better sharpen my arrows LOL

So that is where my turmoil resides. It's hard for me because I have always LOVED my career. I could spend 12 to 15 hours easy working because it is what I identify with, or was. Now, it has forced me to look at things differently. Saturn in Cancer has been quite the teacher, while highlighting my T-square...interesting.

What if the ghost kisses you? Guess that depends on whether your Leo boyfriend is with you or not If Leo is there, look outraged, slap the crap out of the ghost, tell him he's strictly amateur hour, then put your arms around Leo and say, "now this is the champ of pucker" Might as well score a few points to save for a rainy day.

If your boyfriend isn't there then let your conscience be your guide but I don't see any future in a relationship with a ghost----at least not in the short run. Give it a hundred years and who knows?

You think they sold Tortilla Flats out from under us already? I'm still working on those chaps costumes.

jwhop,

LOL...you are too FUNNY!!! I almost spit my coffee out when I read that. Yeah, Mr. Leo will be there with me - but I have to stay the first night all by myself.

I must agree, a relationship with a ghost does not translate to long term potential, but it would reinforce my fear of committment issue that I still deny exists LOL....

Well, that explains why you couldn't take me with you. Too much Leo or too many

I agree, a relationship with a ghost satisfies the need for detachment. Disassociation at it's best. Most noncommittal women would be satisfied with having a boyfriend in another country and emailing once in a while.

Well, you caught me jwhop!!! I am only semi-noncommital. I like to keep my man on the other side of the US, with frequent phone calls, IM and e-mail (with a visit about once a month if we can manage it LOL).

I used to joke that whenever I got married I would still have my own room. Well that is exactly what happened when I got married to the Virgo. It was cool though because it was also the guest room. I used it as my very large dressing room and had my own bathroom as well. Boy, do I have issues. hee hee

LOL...Harpyr,

I have a problem with people that are hypocritical. I understand business is for profit and without business and competition we would be stuck in the dark ages.

My CEO is a bleeding heart as is many of the people in charge of the money here. BUT - they are also very wealthy, pompous and act as though they are above the very people they pretend they are protecting.

That is the problem I have with certian liberals and I have been coming into contact with them in business far too often. It gets under my skin to see the back room deals, then have one of them come into my office talking about the greed of the Bush Administration. Yet, the Bush administration is about 99% more ethical that the wacknuts running this company. In fact, my last CEO the new director of science, wanted to know what liberal senator we could buy off to get us more contracts.

But I see this kind of hypocracy in many places. Take the education system. I worked for a LARGE university system here in MD (guess). Well, many of the liberal department heads and researchers milked the system for overblown grant requests. The way the game is played is to say you need $500,000 for the staff, research, materials etc..but it really only costs $100,000 - so you get to pocket the rest in the form of university fund account. The money from that account then goes to pay for travel, new computers, what ever the person wants (as well as a nice huge bonus to the salary).

At one point the MD Attorney general did an investigation into our department and requested my lab notebooks. I, of course, cooperated and told them I had NEVER run any tests for a federal institution even though my department had billed the grant for over $300,000 for diagnostic tests. (Tests they said I did).

The end of the investigation found not only my department guilty, but also that of several in the system. They got a slap on the hand..keep it hush hush, because they didn't want to lose all their state and federal funding, which would have occured.

Now, these are the same department heads and researchers that HATE the Bush administration for cutting research funding or basing funding for research on concrete theories with methods and accountability. See, it is no longer a "free for all" that they want it to be. Many people think it's okay to milk the government, but what they don't realize is that WE ALL PAY.

Tuition goes up, good reseachers and teachers leave the institution and we end up with kids that are getting McDegrees.

I'd like to see an overhaul all around because it is not a Republican greedy corporate America or a Liberal greedy Education America. It is an overall greed and lust for power that needs to be changed.
