I have a pretty good shot: I know the exact day-hour when my dad died, when my granny died, also will come up with specifics about the time I broke my arm and had surgery, or at least my apendectomy.

now, that's clear-cut data. I just don't know what to do with it.

for my dad's death: should I look for a ... Pluto contact to my ... 4th cusp/ruler? or my Sun/Saturn (ie father)??? he died in hospital after a long ilness.

for my surgery: Mars contacts to...? what? my Asc ruler??

I'm lost.

I know it's difficult, but if you guys could just help me define clearly how these things would look like...

Well... that's not an easy call.

You are right about Father = 4th house, but the contact could be by transit or progression or even the symbolic degree for a year direction.

You would be remiss in looking only for Pluto contacts, as Saturn is the TRADITIONAL ruler of Death... but depending upon HOW he died, another planet might as easily be implicated.

It COULD be to the 4th house or it's ruler, and it could equally well be by contact with the 11th house cusp/ruler as 11th house is 8th (death) from father (4th). Or it could be an aspect between the Ruler of the 4th (Father) and Ruler of the 11th (Father's death). So many options.

Rectification is a hard subject to teach in a forum such as this, but those are some starting points.

However... depending upon how close you were to your dad, and how it impacted you emotionally, it could also be reflected by contacts (transits, progressions or directions) to your Ascendant or even MidHeaven.

To confuse matters further, Ivy Goldstein-Jacobson would also advise that you look to the 7th cusp/ruler as 7th house = End of Matter or GRAVE, to the father 4th house. She might also advise looking at certain Arabic Parts and Solstice points as well.

What a fascinating question.

As an interesting exercise, I might have time to take a look at the charts if you want to e-mail me your NATAL data, and the EVENT data that you are using. However, I would also request that if we do come up with a working chart, that I possibly obtain permission to use your DATA, without names and other identifying information, in an article/book.
