Hey everyone, I've posted before on here before, some might remember me or not:-) But I'm from the UK studying American Studies so will spend my third year in the States. I've noticed that a lot of people are from the States nad wondered if I gave you the list of available Universities would you give an opinion on the Uni or area (if you know it). It's just that the US is so huge...I don't know where to start!1. University of Arkansas 2. University of California at Berkeley; 3.University of Kansas; 4.Le Moyne College; 5.University of California at Los Angeles; 6.Louisiana State University; 7.University of Miami; 8.University of Mississippi; 9. Mount Holyoke College; 10.Mount Union College; 11.University of New Mexico; 12.Old Dominion University; 13.Purdue University; 14. University of Utah. I would really appreciate any info at all:-) Best wishes, Cassie IP: Logged |

I'm not sure what American Sudies involve, but I reccomend the University of Kansas, or the Iniversity of Tennessee. Both are Liberal Arts schools, located in interesting locations, and not overly expensive.Good luck, Lanny IP: Logged |

I recommend Berkeley, especially if you are interested in politics and sociology. Where have you visited before? What kind of experience do you want out of it? The US is so diverse as far as atmosphere, ideologies, etc. Also, there are huge differences between culture in the north and south (I've lived in both) as I'm sure you already know. It just depends on what you are looking for. IP: Logged |

Hey, I've visited Miami before and i'm not sure that i'd want to study there. I like the idea of Indiana...but I also want to be somewhere where I can travel easily. Any suggestions?Cassie IP: Logged |

Hi Sag,I would say the University of CA at Berkely would be an awesome choice, I'd definitly choose Berkely over Los Angeles. I have a couple of high school friends who went to Mt. Holyoke- it's an all girls school, so chances are that will influence your decision. Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana are all in the south, so make sure you're prepared for the weather and whatnot down there. I'd stay away from Miami. Utah and New Mexico would be awesome I'm sure. What kind of hobbies do you have? If you like skiing, Utah would be a good choice. Swimming, beaches- obviously Cali. What a big decision! Good luck! IP: Logged |

Hey eightdegrees, Thanks for your reply! Berkely would be fantastic but California is expensive and to be honest i'd rather have some money left to travel with...you're right about Mt. Holyoke..I think i'd rather go to a mixed school. I like dancing, music, skiiing (not that great but can do it), I'd like to go somewhere where the state is interesting. It's a tough decision, lots to consider. What is Utah like? My impressions of the US are probably v.different to what it is really like.Cassie IP: Logged |
