I think there's at least two types of Composites. One is called the "midpoint" and one is called "Davison". You are referring to midpoint, and looks like they took the point between Libra & Aries, calculating AFTER Libra. - (October), Nov, Dec, JAN = Cap.IP: Logged |

I think there's must be a mistake because I have found the explanation of how midpoint composite chart should be calculated and it says: "a composite chart, otherwise known as the relationship chart, is based on the midpoints of each person's natal planets. For example, if one person's Venus is posited at 10 degrees Aries and the other at 10 degrees Libra, the midpoint of both parties Venus will be at 10 degrees Cancer. This is then known as the Composite Venus. All planets are followed through in this manner, as well as the Ascendant and this provides a whole new chart for a relationship" << it was copied from http://www.aquamoonlight.co.uk/composite.html IP: Logged |

I've struggled with this also. Because we start with Aries and end with Pisces, calculations are set up to correspond accordingly. I use midpoints example: A's sun 20 Capricorn and B's is 20 Aries you'll get 5 Virgo but Virgo does not sit between Cap and Aries its opposite Pisces does. A midpoint means halfway between 2 planets. Also Peri I loved the link you posted in the "interesting observations in synastry"IP: Logged |

Don't quote me on this, but I believe some Composite charts are cast with the logic of mid-points being placed in the middle of the shortest gap between the two planets. I, personally take issue with this, because the natural order of the zodiac shouldn't be disregarded like that, at least in my opinion. It only makes sense to me that the energy is always flowing in the same direction, counter clockwise, so the mid-point should always be somewhere AFTER the planet closest to the beginning, 00:01 Aries. But...maybe the most important mid-point COULD be found in the middle of the shortest distance between the two...What the heck do I know? Maybe BOTH points are important, for different reasons. Whatever the case may be, I've read some thoughts by a couple of different astrologers, who seem to prefer the Davidson Corrected Composite Chart. The accuracy level seems to be higher, according to some. But, different strokes for different folks. The more you work with charts, particularly of couples you know, the more you'll develop your own biases and preferrences. IP: Logged |
