I know there have been several postings about mercury retrograde and a few about natal mercury retrograde people, but it seems so limited. Even books seem to say little and there is only a very tiny amount of information having to do with each individual sign that is natally retro.anyone ever felt like I do about this? my mercury is retrograde in sagittarius and my baby, due in august, will have mercury retrograde in virgo. I am wondering if anyone else has either of these placements or just has a comment in general. I dont want to make too much out of the retrograde factor, because I know that it can, ironically, have too much emphasis placed on it. I am just curious if there is anyone else who has a thought or two on it. IP: Logged |

I have mercury retrograde in my chart, I have read that retrograde mercury means that the person with this placement actually thinks before says or jumps into conclusions. When I have transiting planets making stressful aspects to mercury I find it difficult to make myself clear or verbalize my ideas. I also noticed that I get lost easily or very often go in the wrong direction or take the wrong bus or go out on the wrong metro station. I also tend to be very inattantive while other other people tend to be kind of rude to me.IP: Logged |

Crystelle -They tell you not to put emphasis or "thought" into Retrogrades because it's just one of those things in life we have to deal with, and often. From what I know about them in Natal (I personally do NOT have an R's), the keyword I remember is "internalize". As you can see, it's very much related to the "re's" they tell people to do during transits, except here, we are not dealing with temporary transitions. "Mercury Retrograde - Mercury is often retrograde and slows down the faculties, making them fixed to the present day. The individual is more practical and pragmatic – as if lacking imagination. The individual finds it hard to concentrate and focus, to think things through. Mercury is the planet of communication and intelligence or learning. So a retrograde Mercury could indicate a shy person, someone afraid to speak or, alternatively, someone with learning difficulties depending on where the planet lies in the birth chart (in terms of sign and house placement). The person has difficulties coming to terms with the planets significance and requires an urgency to work out the challenges with more urgency." IP: Logged |

Peri -Without tons of detail, I'm thinking the reasons you have those behaviors, while definately influenced by the R, may not be the only energy contributing to it. IP: Logged |

Also for Crystelle -"Mercury Retrograde - These people absorb thoughts & ideals through osmosis rather than careful, deliberate study. Own best teacher. Tendency to question what others accept as gospel. More capable of dealing with abstractions & impressions than those with Mercury direct." IP: Logged |

THANK YOU.I have read just about everything i can find on natal mercury retrograde. I think that it fits me quite well. I also have pisces rising, which sometimes I am not sure if the way I am is due to the natal retrograde mercury or the pisces rising. (somehow they seem to be similar (esp. the osmosis thing), or maybe I am analyzing too far...moon in virgo) mainly what I am wondering is why there is not much specific info (in terms of any retrograde placements, really) on the retro planets in SPECIFIC signs. For instance, you will see an enormous amount of ideas/interpretations on what it means to have mercury in sagittarius, but not what it means to have it retrograde in sagittarius. (I have mercury, mars, jupiter, and saturn retro- so you can see why I would be very curious about the lack of specifics here.) thanks for your thoughts IP: Logged |

You are right, it's impossible to find that info. Maybe it's because we're supposed to just consider the things that planet rules, and that's it.But I DID find a really cool animation of what happens when planets go "retro"::: www.astro.uiuc.edu/projects/data/Retrograde

just some notes i have run into on the retrograde mercury....one theory is that retrograde planets have to do with karmic conditions.... when mercury appears retro..the person's mind is capable of tapping ideas in the universal consciosness from prior times...uusually, he is unaware he is doing this, but what he is aware of is that he cannot make others understand all he knows... his wave length is slightly different from the rest of society...to make life easier...the retro mercury person should not try to make the form of his life fit into the ideas and opinions of others around him. instead he can find more comfort in being grateful for his rather unique way of seeing things... retrograde mercury people are here to experience unresolved karma in relationships... have any of you retro mercury people ever caught yourself reacting to others as if they symbolize someone from your past...like someone who is in "your present" reminds you of someone from your past....and you end up reacting to that present person based on your past experience with someone else...? people with many retrograde planets can live in the past, present and future ...kinda like "multi-dimentional personalities...and it sometimes throws you out of "living in the present moment".>.. mercury in the third house may focus on trying to be understood by others...sometimes inhibiting his total self expression if he feels others will take what he is saying the wrong way...spends a lot of time "switching wavelengths" according to what he senses around him...sometimes it bogs him down by constantly seekingto find the right word that will say all he wants to convey...(some people may stutter)...still the person with a 3rd house mercury is one of the most analytical thinkers of the zodiac... mercury in sag...does not like to have others improse their thoughts on him,,,biggest difficulty may be that his mind wants to comprehend everything under heaven in order to take the information back to somepast time and apply it to a problem as yet unresolved...perhaps somewhat out of time sinc..and scatters energies...he is also a very mystical spiritual messenger to everyone he meets.... just sharing some things i have stumbled across regarding retrogrades....i find it fascinating.... and wondering if any of you can relate to any of this....or feel this way .... us "retrograde personalities" may have much to learn from each other....
