Yes, it is, nerd-girl! Always has been, always will... but the good thing is that though it is going to crap..... despite the Hell we face and the rivers we swim with our heads barely above the water, You have to sow seeds in crap in order to get the most beautiful garden.
Though sometimes it's hard to see the garden through the weeds.*or the crap*

Well, thats a topic isnt it....

Politically, environmentally and economically absoluteley categorically YES - its going down the pan. Largely because there is no 'balance' of power leaving all the cards firmly in the hands on one hyperpower.

However, I believe the world is growing in spiritual awareness, I see signs of this nearly everyday. We are well in the age of Aquarius now and its showing more prevalently in the mainstream of life. I believe people are 'growing' in spiritual maturity and that as this process continues we will see it manifest itself in a pragmatic and tangible way.

The other thing is though, each generation thinks that things are 'getting worse'. Is it now just our turn (is it our age!!!!!). In the western world we are practically free of disease, we live in comfort, we want for very little, compare this life to one of 150 years ago - very different. Trouble is thats just the west and despite huge breakthroughs in technology and medicine it would appear that we still havent found a way to equalise the wealth a little more.

Ah, well... Libra scales dips and dips back again....dips and dips back again. I cant solve it all Im afraid but I can take care of my little piece of responsibilty to the world and thats all that anyone can do - and keep educated and informed.

Hey Nerdia,

Yes!
And take a wander into the Global Unity part of this forum to see how many others here relate to this. (if you dare - I know alot of Knowflakes stay away from this part of the forum - I've been participating alot there lately - although sometimes I wonder why I'm wasting my time)

"You cannot separate the just from the unjust and the good from the wicked;
For they stand together before the face of the sun even as the black thread and the
white are woven together.
And when the black thread breaks, the weaver shall look into the whole cloth,
and he shall examine the loom also."
...Kahlil Gibran,The Prophet

I think things may get worse before they get better. But I believe they WILL get better.

Yes...things get worse and still worse...but always there is hope. I too believe there are more and more of us gaining spiritual awareness, even tho it may seem to the contrary at casual glance. It is important to remember that what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.

I don't think things are getting worse at all. Humaity will always have obsicles to overcome. We have over come a great deal of obsicles... and we will continue to overcome.

I c/p's this from a post I made in GU: The World is NOT Going to Hell in a Handbasket.

  • The West abolished slavery, serfdom, feudalism, the Inquisition, witch hunts, theocracy, dueling, pogroms, polygamy, state-sanctioned torture, censorship of the press, infanticide, child labor, and capital punishment for misdemeanors.

  • The West also greatly reduced infant mortality, bastardy, religious persecution, racism, misogyny, discrimination, superstition, and war. What few wars do occur tend to be tremendously more violent, but it is also a long-term trend that they are getting rarer. There has also been a sharp drop in institutionalized anti-Semitism -- apparently, the Holocaust shocked Europe out of this 1,500-year tradition.

  • The West has seen a clear rise in individual rights, civil rights, human rights, sexual rights, global trade, travel and telecommunications, computerization, sanitation, hygiene, free markets, private property and increasingly sophisticated economic institutions and banking practices.

  • Democracy has replaced monarchy and aristocracy.

  • Illiteracy once afflicted the vast majority of society, but today has been almost completely wiped out, thanks to the rise of mass education.

  • Economic depressions used to visit the West once every generation or two. But ever since World War II, depressions have been completely eliminated in all nations practicing Keynesian monetary policies.

  • Poverty and income inequality have both been considerably reduced. Prior to the 18th century, peasants and serfs were cruelly exploited under feudalism and manorialism. Even by the turn of the 20th century, over 50 percent of all people in the U.S. lived in poverty. Today, the poverty rate has been reduced to 15 percent. In Europe, it's as low as 3 or 4 percent.

  • Our standard of living is continually rising. Efficiency of survival is greater than ever before.

  • Advances in medical science have more than doubled our lifespans -- from an average of 30 years to 75 years. Plagues that once killed a third of Europe have been wiped out. Epidemics have dwindled in both number and size. Each generation is taller, stronger, healthier, and faster than the previous.

  • Average IQs are rising 3 points per decade, in all nations, races and classes worldwide.

I agree with this statement wholeheartedly. It also says to me that in this life we must look towards the bright side of things, rather than the dark.

Collectively, humanity is growing... everyday. If you look at the progress we have made in the past 400 or so years, you can see that it is inevitable that we will grow even more in the next 400.
