Would my moon in the 7th house be considered a singleton? I'm not sure if its far away enough to be looked at as a singleton.

I haven't studied singletons enough to know for sure, but here's a link:
http://www.astrologyclub.org/articles/singletons/moon/moon.htm

and the main site for further reading: http://www.astrologyclub.org/articles/articles.htm

Good luck - if I had time I'd read the article myself and make overly generous comments, but I have to run for now.

OK, according to Eleanor Buckwater (if I understand this correctly) your chart has three singletons. Singletons, according to her, are the only representation in a chart of polarity, modality, element, orientation by sign (personal, social, universal), or orientation by house (personal, social, universal). Therefore:

1) Your moon is a singleton because it is the only planet in the "social" houses (Houses 5-8)

2) Your Mars is too because it is the only planet in the "universal" houses (Houses 9-12)

3) Your Uranus is too because it is the only planet in a cardinal sign

She is clear that you can have more than one singleton in a chart. Read this article for more info:
http://www.astrologyclub.org/articles/singletons/intro/singleton_intro.htm

That's all I can give you right now - I'm new to the whole singleton issue, and it's a bit complex. This is a lot to take in late in the evening. I apparently just have an Uranus singleton in the 1st house which is part of a grand trine, so it must be significant. You know how those Uranian personalities can be. I must go read up on that now.

AAAAHHHH!!!!!! I was reading the article on Uranus singletons and found this paragraph about problems people with outer planet singletons face that describes my family dynamic and have my entire family treats me prefectly:

"It is a very critical issue whether or not the person received support early on in life from the family. It is a matter of how much support the person received or did not receive for the expression of his uniqueness. A child with an outer planet singleton may become the “identified patient” in the dynamics of the family psychology or the family “dysfunctionality.” Families love to have that person as the “least common denominator.” The rest of them can then think, “Well, we are just fine! It is only little George who is strange, who has problems!” Maybe little George has a Neptune singleton in his first house, on the Ascendant. He sees things no one else does. He knows family secrets he could not possibly know because no one in the family ever talks about that. He starts using drugs and alcohol even before Junior High in an attempt to suppress his strange perceptions."
(from http://www.astrologyclub.org/articles/singletons/uranus/uranus.htm )

Not only did my family treat me like this (and still do), I did start abusing drugs before junior high (I got so bad I was in rehab by my freshmen year in high school!!!). AND my Uranus is the 1st house. Wild!!! LOL

Also I do know family secrets that I shouldn't know because no one talks about them too, like that one of my cousin's a hermaphrodite, high functioning autism runs in the family but has been misdiagnosed as manic-depression and schizophrenia for generations and my maternal grandmother was a American-born German Jew who converted to Chrisitanity to avoid being ostracized. I know this, but NO ONE else in my family who knows will speak a word about it because I'm not suppose to know (my brother doesn't know any of this and he won't listen to anything I say cos I'm the family "headcase").

Thanks for bringing up the whole singleton thing, scorpbaby. It looks like something that could be very revealing!

hey gemini nymph!
Thanks for the articles, they were very very helpful.

I'm a little concerned about my mars singleton from the articles it sounds like "heavy stuff". And plus its in my 12th house! EEK

Im glad you were able to see how the uranus singleton effected your life so much Gemini. It seems like the aspect may have already played its part, which is a good thing. You seemed to have been through a lot.

The Uranus singleton makes perfect sense to me now too, In my chart its a double, the only mutable and fire sign in my chart! I too have had family problems where Im burdened by the "dark secrets" of my family. Its in my 3rd house so it probably has more to do with my intellect.

Im also worried about the moon singleton. Its in my 7th house of partnership, and part of a tsquare. Im sure thats significant, I just dont know how it would effect me.
In the article it said ppl with this aspect tend to feel like the "eternal mother or child" this fits me perfectly. Im the oldest child in my family so Ive always taken care of my younger brothers and sisters. On the other hand I sometimes act like a baby about things, not very mature of me.
Im very worried about this aspect too, bc it described how it may cause co dependency in love. Where one person takes care of the other. This scared me so much!! In my family I've seen codependency at its worse. My mother has taken care of my drunk/ drug addicted stepfather for yrs. Compromising everyone else in the family, including her children(me in particular). Im hoping I dont hold the same fate.

I wish there was more on the internet about singletons it explains so much. I wanna read more!

Oh yeah, Gemini! Someone had talked about that "dysfunctional" article here before, and I found it fascinating since if fits me too. I have a Singleton Uranus in Leo in my 4th. I keep saying my 4th is jinxed. Yup...

I don't think this particular astrologer sees singleton as only negative influences. She pointed out that they can act like a power filling in a void in the chart, especially during crisis. Plus she and other astrologers have pointed out that may singletons appear int he charts of brilliant people. It seems to depend on how you use the power that comes with it.

She mentioned a book by another person about voids in charts - I'd liek to find that and check it out.

I found I also have a Jupiter-Neptune singleton in the 3rd house in my chart. I'm not sure how it's all adds up but life's all a process of learning anyhow. I've always loved my Uranus placement - I have a very difficult Pluto placement (in the 1st house too in a differnt sign) and I always felt my uranus placement somehow can compensate. Perhaps it can. Besides, I like being an Uranian personality. Wouldn't want it any other way.
