Just for fun, what aspects would influence a person to say

"You don't own me"

Saggies?

Well,

This Cappy here with Venus in Sag sextile Uranus, certainly has said so.

I'd say in general Aquas and concept of owning someone don't go together.

Strong Uranus Moon contacts? Or Uranus/Mars?
I wonder what would prompt someone to say that "All the time" ?
Seems like a defensive relationship-

All Fire signs have an independant streak, but Gemini and Aquarius have them beat. Libra can be too, once they've finally made up their mind. Caps and Scrops too are quite strong-willed, but it's more because they prefer to be the owners than the ownees. Earth signs, being often very self-reliant, can express that need to be free if you pressure them too much to be something they don't want to be.

Also the placement of more "strong-willed" planets, in particular Mars ad Uranus, play more in giving a person a sense of independence. Example: I have Libra Uranus conjunct to ASC in 1st and Aqua Mars in the 5th, which make up a grand trine with my Venus in the 9th house - despite having a prepondeence of mutable signs, I am a highly independant person and anyone who's spent a few minutes with me will know that.

Other possible indicators of independant streaks:

- Mars or Uranus in a fire or air sign

- a preponderence of fire or air signs/ a noticeable lack of water or earth signs

- a preponderence of fixed or cardinal signs

- Mars or Uranus in the 1st House, especially if conjunct with ASC

- a strong aspect, like T-square, stellium or Grand Cross that involves the 1st house

- Mars, Uranus or an aspect/part of aspect in the 3rd or 9th house

- a 3rd house to 9th house opposition involving Uranus, Moon, Mars or Sun

- ASC opposite Moon or Sun

- Sun or moon conjunct Mars or Uranus

- Uranus or Mars squared MC

- and sometimes 10th house activity can stir up a need for emancipation, the 2nd house the need to "clean house," and the 6th house to "cut the crap" - so don't count those out, even though they're all associated with earth signs

great work Gemini Nymph
Uranus resents authority (big time)
and telling them anything is a no-no
You have to ask, nicely
any hard aspect with uranus and a personal planet will get an in your face response.

Natasha ~ stifling, and over protectiveness would make me say that.. I don't think I ever have said it, but certainly aimed it at people - ususally close parental figures.

I understand where they're coming from sometimes though, since my apparent, haphazard impulsive nature, scares the he11 out of anyone that cares for me, or comes along for the ride! (when it surfaces)

I'm not purposefully careless ever. I care deeply. It's just I have a different way of getting to places sometimes, and others panic at my A - B approach, rather than the mapped route

Gemini Nymph I had to laugh at you (informative!!) post. I'm a really independant person and find it hard to stay in close relationships, despite a 7th house taurus moon. But a lot of the things you said really apply to me! Aside from the gemini sun:

Other possible indicators of independant streaks:

- Mars or Uranus in a fire or air sign
**mars in aries and uranus in libra

- a preponderence of fire or air signs/ a noticeable lack of water or earth signs
**one earth planet (unaspected moon), and one water planet, Saturn. Fire and Air evenly distributed.

- a preponderence of fixed or cardinal signs
**7 cardinal planets/AC

- Mars or Uranus in the 1st House, especially if conjunct with ASC
**Mars in 6th, but Uranus 0° orb with AC

- a strong aspect, like T-square, stellium or Grand Cross that involves the 1st house
**don't know if this counts but a libra AC(conj Uranus) opp Taurus DC, both squaring Venus(conj. MC).

- Mars, Uranus or an aspect/part of aspect in the 3rd or 9th house
**uranus on the AC squares Venus in the 9th, mars in the 6th squares Saturn in the 9th.

- a 3rd house to 9th house opposition involving Uranus, Moon, Mars or Sun
**nothing here

- ASC opposite Moon or Sun
**just missed this aspect lol, the orb is 0.5° too loose (moon/AC)

- Sun or moon conjunct Mars or Uranus
**nope

- Uranus or Mars squared MC
**uranus sq. MC

Well, now I don't have to wonder why I, though HAPPILY married, want to have my own appartment and "play family" on the weekend lol!! I do feel really guilty about feeling that way, like I'm not faithful to hubby and son. Now I have my own room that is off limits to the others and I get pretty ugly when they violate that rule.

That's a good point, I was thinking about Uranus conjunct Ascendant today, and I relate having Mars in the first, but it still gets me anyway when someone is in my face without knowing why.

I think we all have our own control issues and no one likes to be owned in theory:>

Yep...yep...

Moon Opposed Uranus...BIG ONE...

Combine that with Sun and Venus in Sag...and I am pretty defensive about my freedom.

I call it: "A Pathologic Need For Independance".

Hee hee...but I am learning...LOL

Thanks for that info Gemini -

I'd say strong Sag, Aquarius or Gemini influences.

Could also be someone who feels they own everyone else, like someone who was a ruler in a previous life. Capricorns, Leo's.

As soon as I saw the topic of the thread I said Sag!

I don't know that any matured person would say that. What happens when you are so deep in love that you own the person and they own you? There is nothing wrong with ownership if the two of you are close enough because the other person can be trusted with ownership, although I must say that this might be different in practice. But it might not be. It probably won't be.

But for the record. "You don't own" (or a variation thereof) is one of the first things to pop into my mind when someone tries to exercise themselves on me (unwanted).

1st House Uranus trine 5th House Sun; NN conj. Mars in Leo & conj. Virgo Jup (by degree) in the 10th; 3rd House Aqua Moon.
I'm not ownable.
And, generally, as soon as someone "tells" me to do something, I promptly do the opposite; not as a "rule", but somewhat automatically.
But I will "give" myself to some - that is, I'll take their opinion, needs, and wants into high consideration when acting - and view doing so as an act of love and devotion (my Pisces Sun probably being point-at-able there); that being made void if I'm at any time "commanded".
