I'm pretty new here ... (hi everyone!)

Does anyone know which has the greater influence in affairs of the heart? Is it the moon or Venus? I have a feeling that one influences WHOM we're attracted to, and the other is HOW we act in that relationship. Can someone shed some light?

H Odessa!

Venus is traditionally used to tell us our ideal mate, your Venus would be very close to a Man's Mars for example to show intense physical attraction. The Moon tells us about our basic security, the moon shows how we show emotion so we are drawn to the sign ruled by that house in personal planets. If your Moon is conjunct the Man's Venus that's a very sexy placement as well, because you trust him.

Love has a lot to do with trust, is your moon well aspected? If so then you are attracted to those you trust and who trust you back.

I agree, both are very important. Lots of moon make you feel at home, you want to be with that person all the time. Venus makes you like/love him

Both the moon and Venus are "receptive" planets, meaning they are highly receptive to influences of other planets, be them natally or in synastry. Just how receptive and to what either the moon or Venus is depends on what sign and house, and other apects that might be affecting them.

So consequentially, both have a lot of influence on whom we attract and how we act, but there can be a lot of variable. Some people have more receptive moon placements than Venus placements (like me) or vice versa. However, it should never me over looked how your moon and Venus affect each other: good, agreeable aspects can make you very intuned with yourself emotionally and capable of attracting compatible people; whereas difficult aspects can lead to inner confusion, conflicting desires and behavior, and attracting incompatible sorts.

I personally pay more attention to the moon at first, then look at the Venus, because the moon has stronger, more regular, and more rapidly changing (due to transits) influence on us, and whatever the Venus does, it'll be in tandem with the moon, for better or worse. I've noticed sometimes, some women with difficult moon placements wanting to intepret their Venus as isolated from their moon influence, and it just doesn't work like that. So yeah it's nice that someone's Venus is in Sag and they've attracted a firey, exciting man, but if they have a Virgo moon, and don't contend with that, they're probably not going to understand why that firey, exciting man ran away after a few weeks. it's that's age-old adage: Know thyself.

I think you've just described my problem in that last paragraph... venus in sag and moon in cap... AARRGGH!

My husband is a Pisces with his venus in Pisces and moon in Aries. I don't know how we found each other or stuck together this long, lol.

AquaGirl,

Well, right off, the two of you will show your emotions differently. You have a cool headed Sun (Aqua) and a more unemotional (not meaning you don't "feel" it's just that you don't lose your head over it) Moon. Having Venus in Sag (like me) you love the chase and it's all fun...but when the emotions get to sticky, the Venus in Sag gets put on the shelf. She doesn't care for too sticky of emotions anyway, but Sag does love affection and kisses...just not the smothering kind..

So while the cooler headed Sun / Moon analyze these issues..his Emotional Sun / Moon and Venus are like "HEY!!! What is up..you 'rejected me' and he goes into hiding".

OR...the Aries Moon is activated and it's like a...ummm....Ram in a china shop (not to be confused with the Bull). I have an Aries moon and there are times that if I feel like someone is pulling back, that moon pops out and says "HEY...DON'T YOU LOVE ME". See our moon needs to be reassured - not in a smothering way, but we think for today - so if you forget to tell us you love us today or give us that hug- we think you are losing interest.

My ex boyfriend in college was a guy with a Pisces Sun / Aries moon. He was very aggressive in sports and even a bit in his pursuit for women, but what through me off was once we started dating, he became much more emotional. I was like "Where is my strong man?"..but his more watery emotional side began to show and although my Mars in Pisces was still very very attracted to him, I just didn't understand the rest.

All in all, you'll need to work on your difference and understand that you may need to emote more and he may need to emote less. Talk about it - LOL..I have had so many of these discussions with my current dude (Taurus Sun / Virgo Moon / Venus in Cancer and Mars in Pisces) because we sometimes emote differently. I am more direct and reactive - he is more romantic and stubborn.

Isn't astrology funny? I was reading this, and looking up my best friend's chart at the same time, and I realized why we're such great friends- I have a Piscean Sun, Libra Moon, and Aquarius Venus. She has a Scorpio Sun, Aquarius Moon, and Libra Venus. And I also have a Gemini asc. It's like, no wonder we understand each other so much! It's amazing, we can literally tell what the other is thinking without saying anything.

ETA: Our North Nodes are also both in Pisces, but I dunno what that means, really.

Hi guys,

My moon is in Pisces and Venus in Scorpio. Do they balance each other, since they are both water signs? Also, does my Sag sun calance out the harmony since it is Fire????

Thanks,

D

Odessa what are your full charts or birth data including place of birt? You may want to post in Practice, Practice, Practice for more responses, but yes your moon in pisces need a different kind of commitment than he can give,

The way he is acting is normal for him, are you getting your needs met at all is a normal question?

Take Care,

Hi Natasha and everyone else who cared to respond,

I don't know what I can do to reassure him that the relationship will not smother his independence. It's ironic because in most of my other relationships, I was always the one fleeing at the first sight of a man getting too close emotionally or being clingy and making demands on my time.

He would be attractive to me too, so I can relate. You are fairly independent when you find one that doesn't do the usual thing you are surprised!

Don't worry, every relationship is different.
I can't do his chart without at least a precise birthplace, the houses can change from place to place on the East Coast. He would be open to telling you more about where he was born, I'm sure. I can do a mini reading for you.

With the Sun conjunct Mars you are always moving fast and then moving on. You get bored quickly and want to set the pace. Give your lover a chance to tell you what his needs are and give the relationship time before judging. Be open to seeing each other at different times in different ways and do not be afraid to give affection first, that is lighthearted.

Relationships are very important to you, and your focus is on having a partner, of some kind to talk to. Sometimes you do not always as if your partner's physical needs are important so be sure and do small things, maybe a foot massage wouldn't be out of line.

Your feelings are strong but your actions are timid, don't be afraid, be brave and you will be rewarded. Most likely you have chosen a sincere partner, but you may not trust yourself. Your natural sincerity attracts good people.

Your chart is similar to GeminiNymph who also has a Pisces Moon. Are you a touch cynical when it comes to love? Allow you heart to overflow with caring and don't worry about the consequences.

Venus square Pluto, you don't often obsess about lovers but they obsess about you.

If you have to work for a lover, you are happier in the long run but be sure it's workable. Venus in the 8th and a Virgo Midheaven show you like an intelligent man, and your dream date would keep you guessing, full of mystery. Dont' allow yourself to become impatient.

Read up on singletons, you have one in Mercury in the 6th house in Taurus. With Taurus on the 6th house of work, you see love and sex as something you do for recognition, or you may meet men through your work. There is service in love for you, because you want a man who takes you seriously and vice versa.

Your mercury conjunct Vesta means you are devoted to the work you do which affects others, that has to do with speech and recognition for your work, and you can be devoted to your mate as long as he is intelligent and worthy of your respect. You have high standards.

Your mercury singleton is conjunct Chiron, how hard did you work today? Who do you serve?

Mental work is important to keep you happy, games, puzzles, and music.

Neptune and Uranus are in the 1st house, your ideas and thoughts are sometimes brilliant but you lacked your own identity for a long time, and are just now finding yourself. The need for a partner is strong but you find yourself often with friends rather than lovers due to your subconcious fear of being walked on.

Because your pisces moon is not aspected by your Neptune what you seek in relationships will be a heavily Neptunian/Piscean personality for a while, until you find a balance within yourself.

The arts help balance you but be careful not to be overwhelmed by a lover/friend/helpmate all in one. You need space and an identity. I do not recommend living with a lover until late in life.

Sex drive may be strong with eros in the 5th house ruled by Taurus. Even though you are a Gemini you may find you are drained emotionally by other Geminis, the nervous energy is draining to your Moon. Make sure your lover has a lot of energy and emotional strength. Your ideal mate must have a strong Mercury not just his Sun but his Tenth house, or Ascendant would ideally be ruled by Mercury. He would also be very devoted but passionate and exciting, he may travel or be involved in sports.

Another significant feature of your chart is Uranus on the 1st, you are no people pleaser, opposite your Sun. Your mate will see you as slightly intimidating. Be sure to read up on this aspect too, with Jupiter in the 12th you can dream big, and you have the power to make those dreams a reality with work.

Be sure to detach from your lover for a while, as you will need space especially since he's an air sign. You will always be the one who needs the space even if you don't feel it. His withdrawals will always be in reaction to what you need. Do not think he is pulling away in fact, you are have to be alone to gather emotional strength again.

This can be difficult if you are looking for a day to day relationship but with uranus in the 1st time alone is crucial even if you don't realize it.

I noticed we have a few of the same aspects
Mercury/Virgo on the midheaven, Mercury in the 7th, although mine is in Gemini, and Taurus in the 5th and 6th houses. My first house is also ruled by Sag and Neptune is conjunct my Ascendant in Scorpio in the 12th.

I am a visual artist,

Take Care,

Natasha

You may want to wait to get serious in mid Oct. as you will be undergoing a transit that focuses on realizations in your relationships. That means that relationships that are not working come apart.

Did you look at your transits at astro.com? If you enter your data, look under free horoscopes and then forecast you will get your transits

here you go:
Look at the Neptune Transits that are hitting you! You may fall in love hard, and stay in love for a long time. Neptune will help you dissolve around another person so you are feeling pretty romantic right now.

Neptune trine Sun: An idealistic time

9 August 2004 until 3 January 2005: This influence will alter your attitude toward the world tremendously. If you have always been a materialist, you will find that spiritual concerns, perhaps disguised in some way, will become important to you for the first time. This does not necessarily mean that you will be attracted to an organized religion, for your expression of spirituality is likely to be more unorthodox. You will be concerned with a direct experience of the divine or nonmaterial aspects of being. You will recognize that purely material considerations do not give ultimate meaning to your life.

This influence stimulates your compassion for others. You may express this by working for charities or in institutions for people who are physically, mentally or economically disadvantaged; or you may become more concerned with helping people in your immediate environment. One peculiar characteristic of this influence is that you will not be terribly concerned about gratifying your own ego through such work; you only want to be of assistance to others.

In general, this is a rather idealistic time in your life, and you will want very much to actualize your ideals. But nothing will be handed to you now. You will have to work to achieve what you want.

Your creative imagination is also stimulated by this influence. This is a good time for any kind of creative effort, particularly if it involves rather abstract notions. This influence operates in a rather immaterial way and is at its best when dealing with the abstract. Artistic creativity, especially in music and poetry, is favored during this time.

The most negative side of this influence is that you may be tempted to sit around and daydream. Reality may not seem as interesting as your dreams, but this is a time when you can work successfully to realize your dreams, so it would be a tremendous waste of very creative energy to just sit! Any course of action as described above would help you to become a more creative and happy individual. There is much potential in this influence.

Neptune trine Mars: Painless lessons

15 August 2004 until 29 December 2004: This is not a good time to strike out boldly into the world to further your own interests. However, this influence does provide the opportunity to learn certain very valuable lessons without suffering discouraging defeats.

During this time you will not feel inclined to assert yourself at other people's expense. Instead you may wish to work to help others without any concern for your own advancement. This is a good time for any kind of charitable work or for working with poor or otherwise disadvantaged people. Similarly you may become involved with others in an organization concerned with mystical or spiritual teaching. Whatever your area of work, the main consideration is that you work for knowledge and insight and to help others, not for your own advancement.

Do not be afraid that your life will lack fulfillment. You will find that ultimately all your activities for and with others for a common purpose will be fulfilling. We often have an idea that our own interests are somehow not consistent with those of others. But at this time you will discover that your needs and desires are identical with other people's. In order to learn this, you must get away from working solely for yourself. This influence will help you do that.

Related to the above effect is a greater concern with metaphysical and spiritual truth. You will become increasingly able to understand how you as an individual fit into the entire universe. Your idea of who you are and what your individuality consists of will expand greatly.

Saturn conjunction Venus: Harsh realizations

15 October 2004 until 3 December 2004: This influence will have a strong effect on your relationships with others. Relationships that are solidly based will go through a period of testing and examination during which you and your loved ones and friends will become increasingly concerned about what is valid between you. A weak and unstable relationship will go through the same process, but you are more likely to conclude that it is not worth preserving. Consequently, at this time the relationships that have no purpose or that have outlived their purpose in your life will be cut off. Often you will be reluctant to let go of them.

Even in the best of circumstances you are likely to withdraw from others. During this time you have to evaluate who you are, what your individuality consists of and how all of these fit into your relationships with other people, particularly loved ones. You may come to some harsh realizations about your relationships, and even those that you thought were quite good may have to be given up. But you can be sure that any relationship that comes through this period in good shape is very real and important to you.

New relationships with a strongly "fated" quality may also come into your life now, which will have very profound significance for you in about fourteen years.

This is definitely a time to be conservative in financial matters and not take on any new financial obligations, for you may have trouble meeting your existing ones. On the other hand, this is an excellent time for firming up and organizing the financial structure of your life.

In general you should look upon this transit as a time for withdrawing into yourself with respect to others and to material possessions. This withdrawal will enable you to get a clearer idea of what and who you are, so that your future relationships with people and possessions will be more solidly based on reality and therefore more reliable and useful.

Jupiter trine Mars: Ethical standards

22 November 2004 until 4 December 2004: This influence creates an easy flow of energy that enables you to act much more effectively than usual and to take initiatives that demand foresight, careful planning and considerable self-confidence. Almost any initiative that you take now will work out as you want it to. It is a good time to start any enterprise.

Your actions are governed by a strong sense of integrity. You may be ambitious during this time, but you feel that it is very important to achieve your goals correctly and in accordance with ethical standards. Others will recognize your integrity, which will increase their confidence in you.

Under this influence you have a strong desire to make something of your self in the broadest sense of the term. For example, there is the drive to succeed, particularly in some project that you have started yourself. There is also a strong need to create, even extending to the biological realm, where this influence can signify a desire to have children.

This influence also signifies actions aimed at enlarging your scope of action, giving you more freedom of movement and creating opportunities for new experience.

This is a good time to approach a person with whom you do not usually get along or someone you have had a temporary dispute with and make an effort to settle it. You will find it easy to convince the other person of the integrity of your motives because it is true, and they will respect that. If you are involved in a legal controversy, this influence is a good time to settle that dispute on terms favorable to yourself.

Jupiter trine Sun: A sense of humor

23 November 2004 until 5 December 2004: This is such a pleasant influence that you may be inclined to sit back, enjoy it and do nothing. However, this is really a very important time in your life because you can reach out into new areas of life and have new and rewarding experiences. Your creative potential is enormous at this time, and you can very easily accomplish a great deal that would be difficult at other times. Your inner energies are strong, and you are full of self-confidence and the feeling that you can do anything.

This influence usually indicates good health and a feeling of well-being, although you may be inclined to put on weight if you are not careful. You may not feel inclined toward physical activity, but it would be a good idea to get some exercise. Make a particular effort to be outdoors. Hiking is a very beneficial activity at this time.

If you are inclined to physical activity, especially athletics, don't take foolish risks through overconfidence. This influence tends to make you overestimate your energies.

This is an excellent time for all financial matters. You will feel like making your surroundings appear more elegant, and you may spend quite a lot of money doing so. This is perfectly fine, and you should think positively in all ways, but don't let this concern with material acquisition blind you to some very real possibilities for inner growth.

Travel, either physically or mentally, often accompanies this influence. Take this time to broaden your understanding of the world around you. You have a strong interest in ideas that are different from what you normally know and encounter, and you are much more tolerant of different ways of living. Even people's usually irritating traits do not bother you at this time. Also your sense of humor is much greater than usual, and you can appreciate the dance of life in all its glory.
