Okay,...Here's my (romantic) theory on Scorpios.... We don't create conflict, so much as we act as catalysts, or spiritual mid-wives, who draw whatever screaming secret is lurking inside out into the light of day. (Can we help it if "sinners hate the light"?) See, conflict is always there, dormant or otherwise. We merely seek to name the unmentionable elephant squatting in the middle of the room. Most people would like to sweep that elephant under the rug.... we like to lift the corner. The outlandish philosopher, Diogenes ("the Cynic") of Sinope, took a kind of disinterested pride (if such a thing may be fairly said to exist) in being a sharp thorn in his contemporary's side. He said, "The reason Plato hates it so much when I track mud on his floors, is that he knows it is really his vanity I tread on." He also said, "What good is a philosopher who offends no one?," and, "To a woman who prayed with her butt in the air, I remarked in passing, 'God is also behind you!'" If these aren't the (re)marks of a true Scorpio, I don't know what are. The wisdom of a Scorpio is in recognizing the mysterious healing properties of a good, clean slap in the face. It is the ability to understand the true nature of "evil" - not as something which may be created and destroyed, but, as something which may be transcended by virtue of experience... "Ignorance," we say, "does not create error; Rather, error reveals ignorance!" We would rather get everything out in the open, and deal with all of it face to face, than act like it isn't there, and take it on peacemeal. It's nothing that isn't going to confront us sooner or later (in this life or the next); and, if its going to happen anyway, Scorpio's would rather see it go down with a bang, rather than a wimper. We are screaming "Fire!! Fire!!" And you say, "Not now, can't you see we're trying to watch T.V.?" Please, don't shoot the messenger. Also, the passive-aggression... In my experience, as a Scorpio, I try so hard to suppress my dark side (because I want so desperately to be good), that occassionally, when a nerve is struck, I automatically vent like a mother____. I can be genuinely repentant in a matter of seconds, but that doesn't prevent my barbs from making wounds that last a helluva lot longer than that. But, can I help it if everybody's got a pistol, and all I've got is this here 12-gauge? , Heart-Shaped Cross ------------------ "Judgment is the antithesis of understanding." - Stephen Wallace Coltin

I liked that.Having strong Scorpio influences, I know what you mean about being able to see what's behind the curtain - people just reveal it to us, and then sometimes direct anger towards us. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Being married to a Scorp and having 2 brothers who are as well, I have to totally agree with you! Keeping the darkness inside and being good is obviously very frustrating for Scorpio's. My hubby has to vent and when he does, even though I know him well, it sometimes stresses me out and upsets me. I've learned to let him vent, because he needs to and I try not to let it upset me but sometimes it still does, even if the venting is not directed to me.(must be a Libra thing, I don't take stress too well)IP: Logged |

Trust me, I'd rather have a man who "let it out" like that, rather than some a-hole who keeps it all inside ...------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Heh, there's some Scorp that i never have a fallout with. I find it amusing when i do have a fallout with a Scorp. Usually it's to try to show me my ignorance, and I point out that my lightbulbs are their blindspots. And I know deep inside, they're crazeeee. Fun to watch a Scorp pretend they're composed. Okay, just adding my two cents (which when you take into consideration the value of the aussie dollar its probably more like adding my 1.5 cents!!!)I read somewhere that scorps are the sort of people that their friends come to for a well-timed kick up the butt. Yeah, I tell it like it is. I am always playing devil's advocate and getting people to look at things that they may perhaps be otherwise uncomfortable with. The upshot is that a lot of people (particularly men) run. I think they don't like to look in the mirror. If you don't want my opinion, don't ask me then. purple_scorp IP: Logged |

Purple -This may be true if it takes them some time to sort of digest what you said, and then over time, you arrive at a consensus. IP: Logged |

Oh astro, I've had my share of Caps. All of them gets so judgemental about my strangeness, even if it's what's so inviting about myself. My Cappy friend said "Of course I love it. It helps me feel like the normal one in comparison." LOL. I think all the signs are crazy, but as an Aqua, I embrace my crazy. Scorpios don't think they're crazy, which makes them the craziest of the bunch. "I'm mad, you're mad, we're all mad."-Cheshire Cat. I think that'll be my new sig. IP: Logged |

What do you mean we Scorps don't think we're crazy? I KNOW I'm crazy But there is a saying: Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me... IP: Logged |

Scorpio as passive-aggressive!YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! But in the best ways, they mean so very well. I have NO Scorpio in my chart, but I oftimes live vicariously through my best friend, who is all Scorp and I love her to pisces... i mean pieces! IP: Logged |

Lynx -It wouldn't take a stretch of the imagination to think a Cap comes across as judgemental. I sometimes catch my Libra friend doing that, but luckily he has some other influences in his chart which also gives him softness there. Do you remember the thread I started about Uranus being Saturn's best friend? If not, I'll try to find that link for you. There was an excellent article on that. .gloria IP: Logged |

In my experience - Scorps are actually no more outspoken than any other sign (the most brutally frank are Ariens and Sags). The bit about trying to be good - I can understand that. Most of the time they are very polite but they often wear an expression that suggests they're about to blow their lid. But that is all par for the course with Scorpio. Knowing (or correctly guessing) their astrological sign is a huge bonus when you have to deal with them. It de-complicates matters, because at least you then know where they're coming from, and more or less what to expect.IP: Logged |

Scorpios don't know they're nuts?!?!?!ON THE CONTRARY, Scorpios are just about the only ones who really DO know it... Most signs don't know enough to distrust others, let alone themselves! The Scorpio understands that, just because he knows he is nuts, doesn't make him sane. IP: Logged |

All I know is that the Scorps I know don't cause problems or get mad unless someone is stupid enough to go on and on and show that they are infact idiots! Scorpios, I find are more patient than most signs. They take a lot of crap, but if it continues long enough, then watch out! (and you probably deserve it!)What makes them mad: dishonesty, falseness, flightiness, insensitivity, and total lack of awareness from other people. As for the crazy thing, I think were all a little crazy, don't you???? IP: Logged |

All I remember as far as the word "crazy" and the word "Scorpio" coming together in some logical paragraph, I think, was written by Linda Goodman. I'm not positive. But it's something that has been with me for many years. That one of Scorpio's greatest fears was GOING crazy. I've taken it out of context here, so it may not come across the right way, but the text's meaning was about how Scorpio is a Fixed sign, and they like order. Just as Aquarius keeps Air in order, Taurus keeps Earth in order, Leo keeps Fire in order. But also because Scorpio's have an inner knowing of just how powerful their emotions can be. It's the "transformer," it is "death" and "rebirth". Not someone who takes things lightly. ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |

Aquarians? Keep order?? Why?? LOL. Which order? Autumn, I did say we're all crazy. I once knew a Scorpio that I fell for. Finally I decided that I didn't feel like having my emotions be manipulated, so I just cut him off completely. He then went on to make an online statement that "people are not supposed to have emotions" and that I probably never loved him anyway. LOL. A water sign, saying that to an Aquarian. That's rich. One of my dearest friends is a Scorpio but I can see that she always has a little bit of anger underneath. It's barely visible, but she keeps it underneath and does whatever she can to control it, even when people don't deserve it. I think if people steal her art, her vision, her ideas and disrespect her, she should speak out. Then again, she has enough Aquarian friends who will for her. LOL. IP: Logged | |
