1) If you don't know someone's birthtime, what is the best way to start?

2) Once you calculate the charts, what are the best ways for getting a good overview for both an individual or for a relationship between two people? As in, are there specific planets/aspects you look for first?

For your first question, have you heard of "rectifying" a Chart?

I've heard of rectifying a chart, but I don't know what it means. As far as the second part of my question, I guess I'm asking for ideas on where to start. For an individual I would think you would start with the sun, moon, and asc,. but after that are there any planets or aspects or houses that should be looked at first?

Then if you're looking at two people's charts (that's synastry,right? And composite is made up of both people's midpoints between sigs? I'm not sure if there is a difference betweeen synastry and composite, but this is what I understand it to be.) but if you're looking at two people's charts, what aspects should one look at first to get a good overall view.

Does this make my question clearer? If not, let me know. I hate to ask ignorant questions... I know it can sometimes be trying for those who already know these things... but I do appreciate any help you give me.

I'm just looking for general information. When I say that a person's birthtime is unknown, I mean that maybe you just don't have that info. Like if someone wanted you to do a reading for them and they had all of their info, and all of another person's info except birthtime, what would you do?

And I think maybe what you're saying in response to the second part is that what you look at first depends on what kind of relationship you're looking at, am I right?

I also have a new question: My rising sign is Sag, and I have three planets in sag... sometimes this is labeled as the first house and sometimes as the 12th. Why the discrepancy and which one would be more correct?
