I have no blessed idea what to do with my life. That's a bad thing, as without a Purpose (capital "P") I just kinda -~meh~- through things - the really bad part being that I can do so without much notice because my -~mehing~- usually stands as slightly to squarely above average, at least in a school setting (where sleeping through classes, doing last-minute work, and having a full-time job on top of all else has gotten me consistent honors since High School).

My question to anyone willing to take a gander: Does my chart betray any line of work that might be a fire in my belly, a calling?
My life is happy as it is, but without something fairly consuming I feel like only part of myself.

As background:

Immediately after graduating from High School, I joined the Army with an MOS in signal intelligence.
I broke my pelvis during training (discovering that, no, you actually can't run through the pain of a stress fracture with any hopes of it not getting worse), was held in limbo for forever because of my clearance, and then was granted an honorable medical discharge.
I then used my MGIB as most of the financing for an AA. I didn't really have a clear direction, but the classes were easy enough so that I didn't actually have to focus.
I then went to James Madison University to finish out my BA...it didn't go well. I did well and my professors liked me; but, still without direction, I got depressed both semesters, at the end of the second lighting off for Oregon instead of finishing out the last weeks of classes.
Next came another University. Again, I did well enough, made Dean's List with no real effort put in, but still felt adrift.
The most interested I felt was in the class "Nonviolence and Peace Studies".
Then, at the beginning of my Sr. year there, my now-husband and I got pregnant.
I slept (10+ hours of sleep a night and I was still drifting off whenever I sat still) and stumbled (stumbled b/c, while continually nauseous, I didn't throw-up) my way through 3 months, and had a wonderfully rousing "threatened miscarriage" sandwiched in.
I dropped some classes, and then dropped them all.

So, here I am with an "almost BA"...and still neither idea nor fire to fuel me.

As for work: Part of me enjoys service sector jobs - they give me an excuse to banter with loads of people throughout the day. While outside of work and school (during classtime discussions) situations I'm usually introspective, in those two I can be a regular chatterbox.
I liked the people that I worked with in a purely tech company, but didn't much care for the drudgery of manufacturing, testing, and inventory.

And, yeah, I realize how silly these questions are on some level - the search and journey are part of the destination, but still

These are not silly questions at all!
With a Leo midheaven, have you considered a craft? Do you like to work with material, fabric, or do you sew? Do you like fashion for the home, or yourself? And do you consider working with children, or in performing arts?

Real estate, the restaurant business, a coffeeshop, all have potential too,

Natasha
Virgo midheavens are a little similar to Leo ones, in that I am busy but never feel completely fulfilled or fired up, I constantly need to be fed that way.

I had to come back and read this a second time, and "a little glad" that you were able to be honest about this ... I'm so sorry for the way things so difficult right now. You've accomplished so much, and so much to be proud of ...

As an Aquarius MC person, I guess the computer stuff was something that worked for me because I could be transient, and you can have flexible hours.

Taking a quick look at your Chart, I was thinking something in the medical field.

Hope you feel better soon!

You, my lovely, must write a book.
I suggest goofy prose in an illustrated chidren's book.
Look up that friend who draws. Make it unusual.
I'll buy it... Meg test it!! She'll approve.

Natasha - Thank you for your quick and thoughtful response

I have worked a bit in the performing arts (in school, though) - as soon as the lights went down making the stage the world and turning the audience indefinable I'd give one hell of performance.
I also do enjoy individual children, though they seem to become predatory in packs.
I've ruminated re: a coffee shop (as has my husband)...we're just a bit too mobile right now (in the military and moving every 2-3 years or so).
Unfortunately, I'm not a sales person at all; and my crafts are usually too eccentric and individualized for anyone but me and a few others to appreciate.

Virgo midheavens are a little similar to Leo ones, in that I am busy but never feel completely fulfilled or fired up, I constantly need to be fed that way.
I'm not quite constantly busy, though I probably should be - part of me usually chastizes the lazy bits when I'm not.
So Leo MC's really often like that, then?
Busy, busy, busy, but with nothing consuming?

aj - Aw, thanks for the get-wells, but it's not so much that things are difficult right now - maybe that's the problem: they're too easy
Don't get me wrong, there's lots of little challenges about, just nothing about which to dig in my heels and charge. But here I'm complaining about "no great battles or journeys" when all of life can fill that void.
re: the Medical Field: B/c of Scorpio and Virgo action? Maybe the 12th House Pluto?
And You've accomplished so much, and so much to be proud of ... Thank you

pixelp -
That's a BRILLIANT idea!
Heck, I could even illustrate it - I was decent in my teenagehood at that, and could prolly pick it back up if I practiced
Or I could go with someone who's stuff actually "looks like it's supposed to"...either way
The one hang-up'd be the actual process of writing. My prose's gotten shoddy the past year or so with the baby eating my brain and valuable space being taken up by recipes and how to make cinnamon-chocolate-chip ice cream.

THANK YOU FOR THE REPLIES, YOU THREE!!!

Anyone else?
I promise that I'm not some sort of fly-by-night site freeloader - I used to post much more before transiting Pluto started its arse-whipping of several important planets in my natal chart.
I even helped distraught peeps as best I could given my feable astrological knowledge.

You're no spammer or lurker.... no way!!!

The thing about children's books is the tired-er you are, the wackier you are, the more cheesed-out your brain ( and admit it, you are already a leg up in the wacky area.. and I say that with the highest praise. ) The better the product will be.
Dr. Seuss??? C'mon!!! Uranus making its presence known with ferrocity there.. okay, his social commentary was wonderfully hidden in the prose....
His beloved brain is inspiration enough.
Write down the ideas that come next time you do a silly voice to the Megster. What wacky name or item makes her laugh the most. What face that you ise? Study it and record it.
I kinda' thought you'd be creative with illustrations too.. so more power to you there.
I know nothing about publishing, but I am sure there is a collective or a resource somewhere....
I feel it in my bones, and I recall sying it a long time ago, as well as others... you should use your magic with words. And I think with your natural talent for humour and insight, and your more recent mommy-hood, children's books is your thang.

Prox, I've told you several times, and I'm gonna tell you again, to write! I have always gotten that vibe from you. And look at that creative moon in the 3rd house.

I've also told you before that there are important things awaiting you. It's not your chart, my talents in astrology are not that strong. It's just your energies.

YEAH!!!*makes her sternest face, then grins like a cheshire cat*

Here's a start....
"Elves are sometimes found in the strangest of places... with the strangest of clothes and the strangest of names....
The most recent I saw was in the hamper, cuddling my favourite red and green striped sock. He had it wrapped around his waist like a belt and was putting the open end in his ear, as if to amplify the sound of the fuzz inside. He caught me looking, and quickly spoke into it as if it were a megaphone.."

Or something like that.......

Prox, if YOU write a book, I will read it with pleasure. There is no match on this board for your goofy sence of humor.

Pixie, now, you should PUBLISH your stuff.

Hey, you know what, is it possible that your WATER, ladies, mixed up with the AIR in your charts creates those unique writing abilities?

Yes air/water types tend to be very creative, and usually possess on urgent, existential need to pursue that creativity along with it. This can also hold true for some Virgo/water types too, like Jack Kerouac.

It really is highly self-destructive not to use such creative gifts, and since many of these combos involve a mutable sign or pair of squared air/water signs, there tends to be a lack of self-confidence too that is self-sabotaging. I think that this is why asterologers don't seem to "get" my particualr combo and end up writing such off-the-mark assessments that focuses all on our weaknesses and not at all on our strengths and gifts - when you have that double whammy of squared mutable signs it's just that much harder to overcome all the obstacles and anxieties (not to mention, the crap dumped on you by other people) and come out and show your true potential and gifts.

Prox, I personally don't think any too heavy regarding financial commitments or being stationary, like starting your own business, is a good idea for you. Anything too tangible or stationary wouldn't suit your Pisces/Aqua temperment. You need to be able to move around, explore, daydream, muse a bit, take the day off when you need too, without having a string of clients or a troop of employees to be accountable for. You'll need both a certain independence and a certain non-competitive, non-high pressure envirnoment to thrive. It might be hard to find such a niche, but I bet it'll be well worth the struggle and wait. I think the idea of pursuing children's books is very good for you. Granted the publishing busines is HIGHLY competitive, but don't worry about that until you have to cross that bridge. Your Sun is in the 5th house plus a Leo ASC should enable you to appeal creatively to children, regardless to whether you enjoy being around them or not. Dr Suess wasn't known for being a fan of children himself, but he enjoyed writing for them. He was a Pisces Sun, with Virgo moon, and Aqua Venus and Mercury.

And don't worry about being "accessible" - just go with your intuition, write only what you know you could write that no one else could, and see what you come up with first. Because of today's publishing market, publisher want people who are unique and will stand out in the stacks of submissions.

Prox,

I havent gotten a chance to take a really good look at your chart yet, but I plan on it. And it seems youve gotten alot of good advice so far! I think you would be a FAB childrens book writer.

I'd buy one!

PS I loved that 'Thread Pit' site.

I took a look at your chart last night, went to sleep and woke up convinced you should be doing lab work. First though since your so close to obtaining your BA, do that. Even though Leo rules the 10th house (Sun in the 5th) Your ruler is in the 12th. Pluto and Scorpio do well with crime scenes or something along those lines. Does that pique your interest at all?

I also noticed you are able to post charts, I am trying so hard to learn, think you could give me a few tips? I'm already registered with photobucket and I'm ready to go but I'm seriously stumped. Anything would be appreciated. And kiss your beautiful Meghan for all of us

Hi Proxime,

For Life Purpose, try looking at the nodes. They really say a lot . . . as the post that initiates this thread sounds exactly like the Aquarius South Node conjunct Mercury Rx in Pisces in the Fourth House . . .

Your greatest challenge is going to be pursuing the spotlight with the pomp and candor of the regal sign, Leo. Mars Rx and Jupiter Rx conjunct the North Node creates energies that make it hard for you to enjoy the warmth associated with working outside of yourself and allowing people to embrace you.

Hope this helps. I miss Astrology sometimes and thought this would be a good outlet to write a bit.

Cheers,

Aphrodite

Prox,

I'm certainly no expert... but... It's funny. I was just talking one of my girlfriends earlier today about her 10th house Mars. She was also in the military (technically still is, but will be out soon... just waiting on the paperwork). We talked about how the Military was really perfect for her because of the constant work load it provides. She can't be idle... drives her nuts. Gotta keep moving.

I remember reading somewhere that jobs with physical demands are best for 10th house Mars peeps. Specifically the Police force, Military, Professional Athletes, or Physical Trainers.

Do you have the same type of feeling?... that you are driven to work hard (physically)?

She's a Leo Sun, Scorpio Moon, Virgo Asc.
