This is more of a curiosity...but I'm trying to figure out why I am obsessed with travelling. I don't even seem to discriminate between short trips and long-distance, I desire both immensely. In fact I'm going nuts now that it's crappy weather outside and I don't want to drive in it! I have all these plans to road trip all over this coming year.Anyhow...so that lead me to look at my 3rd and 9th houses...guess what? no planets in either house! I do however have my North Node in the 3rd. Hmm...even my progressed and current transit charts show nothing transiting either house! I did think of looking at the planetary house rulers, but haven't done that yet (although my Mercury is in a Libran stellium!). I've read a little about empty houses, and how stuff that the empty house has to do with will either not be very important in your life or you will have it as a very strong desire. Do you guys think I'm simply fulfilling the empty house needs? (p.s. I also have always had an extremely strong desire to write, maybe even turn it into a job, which I understand is a Gemini thing, and my 3rd house is in Gemini). Or am I actually engaging my north node? Everything I've read about the North Node sounds like we would actually try to avoid it but need to use it in order to grow. IP: Logged |

I don't know much about the astrology side of wanting to travel, but I hear ya sister! I always want to take off... no shock though, all that air in my chart. But that empty house thing may be an answer, or at least a question worth looking into... Ghani IP: Logged |

Is your natal moon conjunct or aspecting either Mercury, jupiter or Uranus? If not, is transitting Mercury, jupiter or moon aspecting your 3rd or 9th house b-cause if so, you can find yourself feeling very restless with your current surroundings and may want to expand your horizons physically if not, mentally! I feel exactly the same way you do! I've actually been considering writing a book lately and doing some travelling myself! (I have transiting Uranus in the 9th house!).I'm assuming your ASC is in Taurus and if it is, your progreesed ASc may be entering Gemini- hence the need to pursue Geminian hobbies!IP: Logged |

Yay! Other people that love to travel !Passionfruit, your post amazed me! I just looked at my progressed chart again, and my ASC did progress to Gemini!! NEAT! My natal Moon opposes my Uranus, and quincunxes my Neptune. I just looked at my chart with transits again...I accidentally left in a date from Sept. when I looked before, so actually...Venus and Mercury are just entering my 9th house! Oopsie at my mistake lol! No wonder I want to drive away AJ - My Mercury is in Libra in my 6th house. IP: Logged |

I am very blessed to have been able to travel all over the place. My desire to do so was INSATIABLE in my early 20s... And I still feel it, but not so much. Probably because my insatiably curiosity and desire has been satiated. My Moon and Mercury are not conjunct, they're both in opposite ends of Capricorn/4th house. Gemini rules my 9th house which has no planets in it... aaaand, I have a Saggie Venus and Aqua Mars. I'm planning a HUGE trip to England, Ireland and Italy in 2006. Italy because I haven't been since 2001 and I miss my family there and England and Ireland just because I love everything British and Irish so much I have been to London, but I was only 21 and I spent the whole time (5 days) partying and cracked out on ecstacy, lol. It wasn't exactly a culturally enriching trip. IP: Logged |

I'm wondering if maybe Mercury's nervous energy has become so powerful at this point, it's pushing us beyond our normal boundaries.IP: Logged |

Look at the ruling planet(s) of the 3rd & 9th Houses, and see what Houses they're in and what aspects they have. Then maybe that might help you find more clues to the reason behind your Wonderlust. IP: Logged |

sasssygrl -Funny you should ask! It's interesting that my 3rd House Cusp is Ruled by the Moon > my Moon is in the 3rd House. AND - My 9th House Cusp is Ruled by Saturn > my Saturn is in my 9th House. Isn't that interesting - I mean - unusual? Or maybe not? IP: Logged |

Wow AJ that is interesting!...And I don't know about unusual. But it definitely puts some sort of an emphasis on traveling. The ruler of my 3rd House is in my 9th House...which seems to imply that I have a bit of the Wonderlust too. IP: Logged |

Well, I'm sure the scenery is lovely but in winter maybe not so much fun. My point is I would willingly and gratefully go anywhere. I just like to go. I actually really enjoy being in airports.IP: Logged |

TINK - ... hee hee ... Airports? I'm just bugging you, I know what you mean. It IS a fascinating place if you're set in your mind to not be in any stressful hurry. Fascinating. Even more than mall gazing. A good movie can sometimes make one feel they are "somewhere else", as well as some mood enhancing drugs (needless to say) - but I think that's MUCH different than "travel" in it's purest sense, as in, discovering how other cultures live, enjoying historical sites, and nature. The fact that I love some of the hard sciences in nature, as well as psychology, sociology, architecture, and anthropology makes the whole observation that much more fascinating. I'm still tripping on that 3rd and 9th House cross-reinforcement in my Chart I mentioned above. TRIPPIN!! No wonder I've always said, I've a gypsy soul. IP: Logged |

I have Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus all in the 9th House of Sagittarius (plus Psyche, if that counts). I'm a backpacker with an incurable wanderlust. 3rd House is occupied by Chiron and North Node. I'm not sure if Moon in the 1st House contributes to my passion for traveling, I seem to recall reading about it somewhere.IP: Logged |

virgotaurustaurus -I was just reading the recent thread on Eros, and wanted to ask you what Sign & House yours is in? Mine is in Sag and the interpretation speaks of travel, both physically & mentally ::: "Eros in Sagittarius Imagine, if you can, silver leaves waving above a pool of gold filled with singing fishes. Twin moons in an alien sky. If you like, I'll show them to you and they will be, I promise you, the dullest part of the journey. Come with me and I will show you sights that you have never dreamed of. Or stay behind, and regret it until your dying day... --William Hartnell as Doctor Who Eros in Sagittarius says, "expand my horizons and explore the unknown with me!" This placement of Eros needs widespread goals for the future and the space, energy and enthusiasm to live them out. Spontaneous, exuberant, adventurous and fickle, Eros here prefers a lively and challenging experience with the beloved, one that will take him to the limitless corners of the universe. If someone is going to be with Eros in Sagittarius, they best get ready to soar. This third FIRE sign has enormous sexual energy and will become bored if the relationship does not develop into broader and richer potentials, or offer new horizons. Travel is his watchword and that does not necessarily mean physically jumping on a plane and heading for a distant culture. The travel Sagittarius has in mind involves the exploration of any previously unknown realm. This includes symbolic journeys through intellectual concepts, philosophical ideas, spiritual beliefs and artistic creations." ------------------ ... it's better to light a candle than curse the darkness IP: Logged |
