I'm thinking back to that 15th-century illustration which shows curves going across the page, and signs sharing the same ruling planet positioned on each curve. Who came up with the idea of each sign having to have a ruling planet? Why did the ancients choose our specific 12 signs at all? Why not others? Were there scientific, as well as mythological reasons? Reading the latest issue of "Prediction" Magazine in the UK, I've come across an article on recently discovered planetoid Sedna, way outside the orbit of Pluto. In one of her books, Linda Goodman mentions the undiscovered planetary rulers of Taurus and Virgo, Apollo and Vulcan. Why wasn't the planet named after either of these? When did the Ascendant begin to become important, and who "invented" the idea of Houses?IP: Logged |

Hi Archer,Did Western astrology originate from Indian astrology? I ask this because I can't seem to recollect ever seeing astrological subjects in pre-medieval European art. Do you have any experience of Vedic astrology? How do you think its predictive abilities compare to Western astrology? IP: Logged |

Astrology, or some something very similar to it, was used by most of the great ancient civilizations, including the incans and the egyptians, and of course the Indians. Our modern day western astro emerges from Greek traditions.IP: Logged | |
