i've taken gloria's suggestion from another post and decided to start a new thread on the asteroid apollo.

to find out where your apollo is, you can use the extended chart selection on www.astro.com, and under asteroids just type in '1862' to find what sign/degree/house position it is in for you natally.

mine is in leo 27°/11th house. it trines my sagittarian moon exactly.

chiron and friends (http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/7969/apollo.htm) states regarding apollo: "By house it seems to denote a place where you feel that it is your right to expect your own way, and often where you take for granted some particular personal rights you have always respected."

the key words for this body are: "fixation, intensity, crisis-mastery, exaltation, commitment, challenge". "The liabilities---especially with conjunctions---are tunnel vision, blind spots, irrational awe, imbalance, obsession."

i do tend to have a weakness for fixating on people who stimulate my moon (because when my moon is stimulated, that apollo energy comes out).

in synastry, the site states: "In a relationship, if one person's Apollo is conjunct the Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars or Ascendant of the other person, the love the Apollo person receives is unbelievable. It is sometimes to the point of worship. This can be especially true in a parent-child relationship. A case in point: a woman does not really like children and barely tolerates her own. However when she has her third child, the baby has Apollo exactly on the woman's Virgo Moon. The mother adores the child, loves it, and cannot believe that she can feel so strongly toward the child."

i know someone, my virgo friend i'm involved with actually, whose apollo conjuncts my ascendant by 4°. i can say with absolute certainty that i adore him, totally and completely. i think he's tops. the only other men in this world i value that much is my dad, and certain artists/visionaries.

anyhoo, take the time to look up where apollo is your chart and your partner's (or family & friends). if you find an interesting connections, let us know. it's really fascinating.

hey chrissy

i looked up the apollos in my family, and there are some interesting connections.

my apollo is conjunct my bf's MC, and widely (7 degrees) his north node.

his apollo is conjunct my youngest son's stellium of sun/venus/jupiter. and it's true; my son adores him. well, they adore eachother.

my older son's apollo is exactly sextile my asc, and opposite my chiron. not sure if (or how) those count.

my boyfriend's apollo is trine my venus.

hmm. must study this more!

I've been looking into the asteroids in my own chart, and found the info in this thread interesting. The ones I usually add in at astro.com are:
16 Psyche
55 Pandora
62 Erato
80 Sappho
433 Eros
1388 Aphrodite
2101 Adonis
4450 Pan
Two months ago there was a severe windstorm where I live and a tree crashed on the roof of my house. A friend observed that Pandora (ie Pandora's box!) was exactly conjuncting my MC (the roof of my chart!) that night. Spooky!
Another asteroid I check out is my Name asteroid (I'm lucky enough to be in the list). Don't know what it signifies, but it's fun to see where it lands in my friends' charts!

There are also 'city name' asteroids - see how they work in your chart.

Asteroids that are named after the Muses and Greek Gods/Goddesses alone are highly relevant. That is why these myths were written, the ancients knew that they were vital and myths help humanity remember.
